  1. thanks, but like I mentioned above, I'd like not to mod my headphones. also, here they cost 280€ but they did catch my eye earlier, because they even look similar to T500
  2. thanks for the suggestions. for now I will keep the m50x because I like the sound. I feel like the mids are a bit duller than on the ATH-T500 but it could very much be the case that the T500 had the mid tuned up. in any case if I have the chance to listen to 361 or 371 I definitely will.
  3. so I bought m50x and they are definitely better. so, there's that...
  4. yes. I'm sure. I specifically ordered 40x because I saw a video from Z reviews where he says the m50x are awful and 40x are extremely good. well, if 40x are extremely good then I don't wanna know how 50x sound like. Actually, I do wanna know, but I have nowhere to test them without ordering them first.
  5. thanks for the suggestions! however I'd like not to mod the headphones if I don't have to, so is there maybe a higher model of the same sennheiser family that does have a removable cable? I'm affraid of the 50x as I had a very negative, above mentioned experience with the 40x. are they flatter than their cheaper brethren? do they have the sharp highs?
  6. Hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me out choosing new closed-back headphones for under 200$/€. I've had the audiotechnica ATH-T500 (now called ATH-AVC500) for probably like 7 years if not more. They sound great in my opinion but their doom was ultimately the cable which got stiffer and stiffer every year and now the right cup is not playing. So I want something that sounds very similar but has a removable cable. I tried ATH-M40x but they sound absolutely horrible. They have very annoying V sound signature. Also the highs are very sharp. I gues I like it flat... although I don't know how the signature really is on ATH-T500s, I can just hear they are very noticeably flatter than the M40xs. I would be really grateful for all your suggestions (they don't have to be audiotechnicas). Thanks!
  7. Perhaps I should make myself clear as to what exactly I want to know. I want to know if this swapping caused the failure of the port or if the new sub did it. Because I already ordered a new sound card, so I don't want to make the same mistake. I personally think it wasn't the sub because as far as I know, the only powered port is the headphone jack. All the other ports carry signal only, not a significant amount of voltage, so the speaker itself cannot fry a non powered port, right?
  8. ok I reinstalled the driver - nothing. I changed the ports and as expected, speakers don't play and the sub does. so the fault is definitely in the port and not in the subs.
  9. Hello everyone, I am seeking help as the subwoofer port on my Sound Blaster Z sound card stopped working. A few days back I purchased a new subwoofer, SVS SB-1000. Previously I had some small Genius sub from 2.1 set. I have the sub paired with bookshelf speakers. It all connects to the sound card through the respective ports, so sub line out, front speakers line out and I also have my headphones connected via headphone jack. All these ports are 3.5mm jacks (I connected the jack to the SVS sub with RCA adaptor) and the all still work besides the subwoofer one. What probably went wrong: Everything played nicely for like two days. Until I tried hotswapping the two subs to have a feel for the immeadiate change in sound. Of course I wasn't literally hot swapping them. I turned them both off, turned the song off, swapped them, turned on the swapped sub and resumed music. I did this like three times and then suddenly no sound from the sub. This happened when I "hot swapped" from the old one to the new one. What I tried (to no avail): - looking if all settings are right and if all connectors are in the right holes - trying if the old sub still plays (it doesn't) - changing the 3.5mm jack cable to a different one - trying different power socket in the house (note that the power indicators are glowing on both subs) - restarting the computer - starting the computer without the sound card and then back with it What I want to try but don't know how or fear I might mess things up even more: - reinstalling the sound card driver - connecting the speakers to the sub port and the sub to the speakers port and see if the sub blows the speaker port as well (lol) - try to meassure the voltage in the ports with multimeter (I bought it today, never used one before) Interesting note to add: When I turn the pc off before the sub there is this loud and short bass POP. I think this is normal but the interesting part is that both subs STILL do this, even when the sub port is supposedly broken. So... yeah. I would be glad if someone knew how to help. Thank you.
  10. well, drivers didn't work, I checked the cable multiple times....now what....
  11. oh yeah, of course, thanks....will try and let you know if that worked
  12. those drivers came with the motherboard, didn't even install them myself, they were just there. If I uninstall them, where do I install them back from?
  13. Hi I just reassembled my computer into a new case (phanteks eclipse p400s) and at startup, my realtek drivers won't boot (can't even start it manually with .exe) and when I plug the headphones in the front panel (actually doesn't even work when I plug it in from the back) nothing shows up in the playback devices. Speakers on my monitor via DisplayPort work. I tried booting computer with the hd audio cable unplugged from the motherboard and then plugging it back in and start again but it doesn't work. I have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on. Any ideas? Thanks.
  14. I guess I'm gonna go with PHANTEKS Eclipse P400S Tempered. Thanks guys!
  15. yeah that's 17mm left to spare I'd say that IS too little
