    Really the 780 is a great card and so is the R9 290 which has tremendous value. The 780 and R9 290 are allot closer in the power consumption department than you might think. The 290 is a shoe in if it is cheaper than the 780 which is the fact most way around the world.

    nvidia did not acknowledge anything. They basically stated that the Vram Gate is by design. A Petition against nvidia has been started at change.org for compensation from nvidia to 970 owners.     The 780 has lots of value still. It performs with all the tops dogs and will for some time.

    780 is good. It's as fast or faster than 970 and does not have a problem with the memory sub system.

    Just saying that for you another option rather than the 970 would be good cause of your high resolution and the Vram Gate issue.

    We have already seen performance issues in current games like FC4 when running DSR. The issue will only become more prevalent is the future and games require higher amounts of Vram. I am trying to save people the headache of a forced early upgrade is all.

    When you do need over the Vram Gate you will be disappointed with broken performance.

    What's the best 970 to go with .. none case they are all broken cards as shown above.

    It matters something fearlessly. EVGA ACX 2.0 also has a broken cooler plus the vram issue that's already affecting current games.

    1680 x 1050 triple monitor. It was a pretty common resolution.

    Really no GPU can drive 4K properly. I think framerate is more important than pixels IMHO.

    It could happen on any upcoming game like GTA V or TW3.
