narrdarr got a reaction from NobleGamer in Power supplies do NOT affect performance! ... right?
Uhm yes/no. Even using the pigtail/daisychain can have these affects. it really comes down to how well that power is delivered. an under powered psu cant deliver the correct amount of power consistently this may happen for an extended amount of time before the safeguard kicks in or the unit fails or kills another part of the system.

narrdarr got a reaction from Elliott Dyson in Intel A770 Review
I'm sure after a couple or few months someone will.. most likely going to wait to cover a big feature/driver update. And if LMG is as much of a supporter of Intel entering the space. I can only assume that they will have future coverage of their progress.

narrdarr reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Should I upgrade to an AIO?
Id keep the nh-u14s for now, then upgrade ltaer if you need to. The extra cooling of a aio won't make any noticable performance differences.

narrdarr reacted to PH7030AL.PH5030AL in Asus Prime B450 M-A and Ryzen 5800X 3D
The Prime B450M-A uses 4C10B/4C06B mosfets for its vrm, while it is a really low end vrm in the grand scale of things is adequate for the 5800X3D if running at stock settings. The 5800X3D consumes 108-120 watts at all core load at stock power settings, and consumes even less at gaming. Also, undervolting is an option if you want even lower temperatures and power consumption.
But in the future, consider stepping up to a better B550/X570 motherboard. I got myself an Aorus X570 elite for just $112, and some adequately equipped B550 motherboards like the MSI B550A-Pro/ B550 mortar(if microatx) are priced around near it.

narrdarr got a reaction from freeagent in Should upgrade from 3700x to 5900x for 275$?
I was thinking the same thing, but wanted to be sure. As for cooling it's not an issue.

narrdarr reacted to freeagent in Should upgrade from 3700x to 5900x for 275$?
Yes, for sure!
Not just for the core count.. probably don't need them all anyways.. but the boost potential.. then of course the IPC bump.. it will be quite noticeable, regardless of what anyone says. I went from a 3600XT to a 5600X and it was a crazy bump.. you will for sure enjoy it.
Just make sure you get a good cooler if you really want to exploit it..
BBQs and BTUs baby 🙂

This model of cooler is under recall. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/msi-recalls-mag-coreliquid-240r-360r-aio-coolers-due-to-sediment-build-up
For the amount you spent on it, you could have bought a new CPU and board that would run rings around an A10.

narrdarr got a reaction from The_Hackintosh in Corsair Commander Pro - Fans keep disappearing and reappearing
Everything that has been said its true. As the corsiar fans are not that great. But as buggy as it is for some, corsiar icue/rgb controls are best in every way.
Any my gf build ran into the same issue with disconnects and copies when I was using a h100i v2.
You could try a clean reinstall
To uninstall iCUE:
Open Control Panel on your computer. Select Programs and Features. Select Corsair Utility Engine in the list of programs, then select Uninstall. Once you’ve uninstalled iCUE, you need to remove some files so a clean reinstallation can be done:
Press Windows Key + R to open the Run command. Type %appdata%, then click OK. Delete any Corsair folders in the window that pops up. Re-open the Run command and type %localappdata%. Delete any Corsair folders that appear. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ for iCUE 3, or C:\Program Files\ for iCUE 4. Delete any Corsair files in that folder. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run command. Type Regedit in the Run Window, then click OK. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and delete the entire Corsair folder.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ and delete the entire Corsair folder.
Restart your computer. Download a new iCUE installer file from Corsair.com. Reinstall iCUE.
There might be a firmware update for your commander pro too.
You can also try a different USB header.
The other options rma the commander or use a different motherboard.

narrdarr got a reaction from An0maly_76 in Need a new air cooler!! I knew this little cooler wasn't going to be enough for the CPU
Can you retest with the side panel off. Those cases are not very good for airflow. A new cool may not be the answer. Or might be only half the answer.

narrdarr got a reaction from Demonic Donut in NH-D15: bottom-to-top or right-to-left
Uhm hot air rising. That's called convection. There is no convection happening here. Cold air, hot air, it doesn't matter, it goes where you tell it to go. And the front exhaust is far enough away that the hot wouldn't be recycled. As for vmr temp highly unlikely.

narrdarr got a reaction from Demonic Donut in Oil Submerged PC questions.
You shouldnt need all that. You can literally use an air pump like in a fish tank. The air and heat from the system moves the fuild around making the heat dissipate from the surface. You could also just run pc fan in the oil.

narrdarr got a reaction from Dreckssackblase in does the AMD Ryzen 5 1600X support any kind of b450 motherboard?
The question is if the motherboard supports the cpu? The answer is yes there are many b450 motherboards that support using a r5 1600x

Updating bios
Updating chipset driver

narrdarr reacted to jaslion in How to Take off the Bottom Fan?
All you really need to clean those fans is a paint brush.
Those screws used are just standard fan screws nothing special. Not sure why they decided to use push pins for the bottom fan. Usually just pushing the pin gets it out no problem.

You could try an older driver version. I'd also recommend using ddu to uninstall your gpu driver.
You could also just run with defualt windows driver

narrdarr got a reaction from Forest_IV in New Build Latency Issue
First of this sounds like a positive quote
Second it's apparent that you don't know that windows automatically push out drivers and driver update from said manufacturer based on hardware detection. So if it detects amd it will push out amd drivers. If it see nvidia it will push out nvidia driver. Sometimes they are not the vary latest as stability is a greater concern. The biggest difference is the features that you get from a direct download
