  1. I went with the u12a but kept my 3700x. I had a noticeable improvement in temps. The d15s with two fans got me about 68-75c while gaming in say warzone while my u12a gets me 59 to 65c, so should be fine for a 5800x if i upgrade. Maybe i mounted it better or my minor mobo upgrade helped with temps too. Hard to believe a smaller cooler works better, but the u12a is a beast. Worth the money.
  2. I prefer air but Im tired of big honking heat sinks that get in the way of everythingand create clearance issues. The U12a seems like the answer to my problems but i hear mixed things about its actual cooling ability with a beast like the 5800x.
  3. Id go with the 9900k. More cores and threads with a faster processor will help a little in upcoming games but upgrading to ryzen wont make a difference inless u do other cpu intensive things like rendering.
  4. I'm talking strictly from the point of view of games running smoothly. I was just spitballing over my warzone stuttering being related to having windows on a separate and slower drive.
  5. I currently have windows installed on a 256gb sata drive and my games on a 1tb m.2. I'm reinstalling windows because of microsutter and lag issues in COD warzone and im wondering if I should put everything on the 1tb m.2 or keep it the same way it is?
  6. I recently “won” an evga 3080 ti costing 1399. Far less than most 80tis. Decided 1500 with tax and shipping was still too much for a gpu and didnt know anyone who wanted it so cancelled the order. Prior to that id lost 60 plus consecutive shuffles.
  7. I kind of like the game and I've managed to win about half a dozen times in battle royale, but I long ago lost count of the number of times Ive died while dealing with a stuttering slide slow when action gets heavy. I probably will just delete it and forget it and wait for battlefield 2042. It doesnt help that the warzone player base is easily the most toxic Ive ever encountered. It's nothing like battlefield's. I'm guessing because it's mostly console players.
  8. Already have done all that. Made no difference. The only time I've ever experienced anything similar is playing battlefield 1 64 player conquest with only 8 gb of ram, and that wasnt nearly as bad as warzone is. That problem was completely solved by going to 16 gb of ram. If you run task manager, does it show a small amount of shared video memory being used?
  9. One thing Ive noticed is that when i run task manager and look at it while the game is playing, it nearly maxes out my 10gb of dedicated vram, then shows a small amount of shared vram usage? Is this normal for games? It seems to me under no circumstances should shared video memory be used during a game. Am I just interpreting the task manager wrong? If it uses up all 10 gb of vram and then reverts to shared memory for even more, that right there has to be the issue.
  10. So like seemingly everybody, I have always experienced microstutter in this game. Sometimes its annoying but playable. Other times it's nearly unplayable. Also like most people I've tried various fixes, none of which works for any length of time. I have a Ryzen 3700x, rtx 3080, 16 gb of 3600 mhz cl16 ram. So system specs arent the issue. Having researched the issue periodically for weeks comes up with a dizzying array of fixes, some of which actually are the opposite of each other. Is this just part of the PC gaming experience for this game? Does anyone NOT experience this? It seems to be something to do with either the game using too much ram or vram, and the amount of ram and vram you have doesnt even matter because it will always use a max amount, which seems to be more than it should. It seems this game is just designed for consoles and pc play is just tacked on and not really supported. I'm at the point where im just going to delete the game and be done with it.
  11. You don't understand how business works if you don't think a lot of thought goes into MSRP prices. There is a reason why the AIB's are more expensive for AMD, most likely related to manufacturing costs, shipping, tariffs, etc. I was just wondering if someone had some insight into this, but apparently not.
  12. No, I'm also comparing other stores and online retailers, since I have stock notifications still set up from when I was looking for a GPU. AMD cards are easier to buy across the board, everywhere. I'm not saying they are easy, but far easier than Nvidia. And no I'm not mad. I have no dog in this fight. I'm legit curious why it's occurring since I like GPU competition. You seem to be the one getting defensive over this for some reason.
  13. Well if the Microcenter I visited is any indication. They DON'T feel like it, which was also part of my point. These overpriced AMD cards are sitting on shelves, at least at that store. It just seems like AMD is going to get slaughtered as this GPU shortage begins to go away. Stores like that Microcenter are already cutting back on ordering AMD cards because they just dont sell unless they are the reference model.
  14. And some arent. For instance the gigabyte and EVGA 3080 ti's are maybe 25% more than the FE. By contrast ALL of the AMD board partner cards are jacked up 100%-150%.
  15. So why are people willing to spend so much more on AMD AIBs than Nvidia? For instance Asus and Gigabyte make cards for both AMD and Nvidia. They jack the price of their Nvidia cards maybe 30-50% over the FE model for Nvidia, but 100% over the reference for their AMD models. Why is that? I dont get why people arent understanding what I'm asking. I get there is a GPU shortage. Im comparing Nvidia AIBs to AMD.
  16. https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=radeon+rx+6800xt&Ntk=all&sortby=match&N=0 Compare that 650 dollar reference price to that link I gave, which are all MSRP.
  17. Nvidia cards are far harder to find than AMD cards, and yet their board partners arent gouging anywhere nearly as bad as AMD's. What am I asking is why this is happening.
  18. I clearly stated I was talking about the board partner prices, not the reference ones which are nearly impossible to buy. Why the massive disparity in prices? All the board partner 6800xt's go for 1,100 to 1,500. Double the price of the reference card. By contrast Nvidas board partners increase the price as well, but not even close to the same amount. My Evga 3070 cost 170 over the FE model. Thats nowhere near the gouging u see by AMD board partners
  19. But as I said, they are now sitting on shelves. I saw an asrock 6900xt that was selling for $2,500 that nobody wants to buy. Are these cards still selling out most places?
  20. I think AMD did a good job of competing with Nvidia with their 6000 series GPU's, and the reference model prices are perfectly fine, but the AIB card prices have been ridiculous. What's going on? Does AMD take a loss on their in house built reference model and charge AIBs a higher price? Why would the AIBs like Powercolor and Asrock price them so high? I was at a Microcenter recently and the shelves were full of overpriced AMD cards no one wants, while all the Nvidia cards sell out the second they come into stock. It seems like either AMD or their board partners are shooting themselves in the foot. Either that or these AMD cards cost a lot more to produce than Nvidia cards and they have no choice but to price them so high if they want to make any profit.
  21. Every time i press certain keys like r it will add another letter so when i press r i get ru or when i press 7 it comes out 47. Doesnt do this for all keys just some. Not sure wgat the heck is going on. No keys are sticking. got it open box off ebay. Coukd this be some foreign language thing? edit: the “linked” keys are always on the same row either next to each other or a few apart. im hoping its not just defective.
  22. When I transferred everything to a new case it worked like a charm. I failed to realize the 3070 ftw was larger than a 2 slot card like my last gpu so the very bottom of the gpu cooler shroud was hitting against a removable slot cover meaning i probably couldn't fully seat the gpu(i think). Either way installing it in my new case i realized this right away and opened 3 slots in the case and had no problems. Could have been some other issue with psu wires or connectors i overlooked that i did right in the new case, but i think it was the gpu not being fully seated.
