Solkia got a reaction from Lord Fusion in Creative things to put in an unused 5.25" bay?
I had this idea of using a 5.25" bay to make a port bay for old controllers for emulators like SNES and Saturn.
Problem is I'm not sure how to make it look clean. I can do the ports easily, but I probabld can't make a smooth looking bay.

It's the same for Nvidia.
And it has to delete out of date packages and replace them with revised ones. Otherwise you'd have two copies and one isn't being used. That will pile up over time and people will complain. Plus there are less issues.

Solkia reacted to MEC-777 in AMD - AM4 Socket is confirmed for upcoming Zen CPUs and APUs - CES 2016
Thank you, AMD, for doing this. This was a smart move. Now people who start off with an APU or low-end CPU will have a much better upgrade path down the road. No more of this multi socket/platform BS.

Affordability is a darn good argument IMO. A homogenous market is something no one wants, and an elitist or monied interest argument for it is the weakest of all. Subjective value trumps all, opine all you like but second guessing others' motivations is disingenuous.

Solkia reacted to don_svetlio in No more cracked games in two years?
My point is. If I am forced to pay double the price, I at least deserve a demo of the game first (many don't have those). I own half the games I used to play pirated currently on steam or battlenet as I deemed them worthy of such an investment.
Furthermore, if the localization process for prices wasn't getting screwed up by Grey Market key resellers who take keys intended for us, lower-income users, and sell them to the US for low prices it would be a whole lot better. Imagine having to pay 80$ for your games and not having steam sales or G2A. Don't act as if third world countries deserve to rot in hell while you sit atop your ivory tower just because of dumb luck. If someone is offered a bad deal, they will steal. Simple as that.

That's my point, to me, Denuvo automatically makes it not worth buying. Hell, even if it was Elder Scrolls (the only game franchise I will buy day 1) I would not want it if it came with Denuvo DRM. It's a deal breaker.

Solkia reacted to RZeroX in No more cracked games in two years?
Games really need to bring back demos so we can at-least test how well the game runs on your system and to see if we like the game.
Nothing is uncrackable there will always be away.

Solkia reacted to Anult in No more cracked games in two years?
I don't usually wish to condone piracy but in many countries, due to the lack of options for buying products such as games, piracy is really the only option for some people.
Until companies can provide legal and fair means to distribute those products in those countries, I have no issue with people pirating a product if there no other way to get that product.
It's a bit disingenuous to tell people to buy a product that for some people they may not actually be able to obtain when there is no legal way to do so.

complete tosh, crackers will stop at nothing to break into games, dont give me this shit. If they can get into the governments or massive companies they can crack a damn game.

Solkia reacted to LAwLz in Oculus Rift Consumer Edition Pre-Order now Live!
Not true. Development kits has historically been faaaar more expensive than the consumer product. The development kit for the PS4 cost about 2500 dollars (according to Forbes).
That's why being able to use the Xbox One as a dev kit was such a huge deal when it was announced.
Very disappointed by these news. I was expecting it to be 400 dollars tops. VR will continue to be an incredibly niche market if the price does not drop very fast, or for example the Vive isn't a lot cheaper.
R&D should not factor in that much either. That was the reason why they started the KickStarter (to fund R&D, and it was successful), and it was one of the reasons why they said the buyout from Facebook was good.
It's not that expensive. The 5.1" SAMOLED screen in the Galaxy S6 Edge is estimated to cost around 85 dollars. Price of screens goes up exponentially so buying two smaller screens will be cheaper. Then we remove the digitizer and the price premium of it being bent. The screens probably don't even cost them 100 dollars.
There is absolutely no way they are selling this at cost. Devkit 1 and 2 were not sold at cost and they were far cheaper.
Custom parts should help REDUCE cost, not increase it.
