Axel Sypkens Smit got a reaction from Roll_Like_Rollo in Experiences with non-techies
I had a history teacher in secondary school and she was upset because her boyfriend erased all her data of her pc.
some one in class: "Why?"
Teacher: I asked him to format my pc.
Some one in class: But formatting is erasing everything from your hd, right?
Teacher: ja, how I supposed to know that?

Axel Sypkens Smit reacted to Lays in [Tutorial] How to make your 900 Series Video Card have a 0% fan mode!
Hello, I recently figured out how to change the minimum fan speed on my Gigabyte 970 G1, and figured I'd share how I did it with you all.
Do this at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damages that occur.
DO NOT TURN YOUR PC OFF DURING THE FLASHING PROCESS UNLESS YOU WANT A $330-$700 PAPERWEIGHT.
REMEMBER TO DISABLE YOUR VIDEO CARD DISPLAY DRIVER AS I MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO BEFORE FLASHING THE ROM
I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WORKS ON OTHER CARDS OTHER THAN 9XX SERIES, YOU'LL HAVE TO FIND OUT YOURSELF

Axel Sypkens Smit reacted to Luke in Are the people at HP high....?
So i just came across this HP Pavillion with an AMD A10 5700 and integrated HD 7660D graphics. Installed in this computer was also a Nvidia GT 620 GPU and on the back of the motherboard was the onboard DVI/VGA blocked by covers that say "DO NOT REMOVE" on them as shown in this picture.
So rather than doing dual graphics they paired a GT 620 GPU with an AMD APU system rendering the HD 7660D graphics completely useless? On top of that the GT 620 GPU is WORSE than HD 7660D? The ONLY reasoning that i can find behind this is that the GT 620 has an HDMI port but HP could have just put one on their motherboard....

When we watch a youtube video, the teachers like ALWAYS dont put the cursor at leat on the video or anywhere on the screen, they always put it on the toolbar and that thing doesnt hide of the mouse is on it.
so I ask the teacher to move the mouse a bit so the bar would disappear.
*moves it 3cm horizontaly, bar doesnt go away*

They going fully wireless with that thing which I personally really like, you can still use USB plugs with an adapter, and I bet there are already tons of nice ones on the market

Axel Sypkens Smit got a reaction from zEr04 in Reversible USB adapter kickstarter
Kevin Lieber from Vsauce2 started a kickstarter for a reversible usb adapter with Julian Chow.
They are also planning to make reversible usb flash drives. Until usb type c is on every device this seems very nice.
These adapters seem pretty cheap, early adopters get three adapters for backing $12,-
What do you think?

Axel Sypkens Smit reacted to Victorious Secret in Apple Watch Event - Live Coverage (Watch + Retina Air + Retina Macbook + HBO Now + ResearchKit) UPDATED
This worked so well the last few times I did it, so why not go for it again? Its nice to keep all the discussion in one place and I plan on keeping this post updated the entire time so we can keep up a good discussion.
I'll include some of the rumoured stuff, this event went from "Apple Watch" to a little bit of everything, with rumours of updated Airs, Retinas, even the iPad has been brought into discussion as being given a more 'productivity orientated" SKU.
Even word floating around a 4K equipped Apple TV, which might be more likely given how much Apple has neglected the unit in the past few years. Lets see whats what, but for now lets get some typical LTT shenanigans going. Not the terrible kind of shenanigans, but the fun kind.
Yes, I'm making this thread early because it took a while to format it. Oh well. Enjoy. If you want to follow along with a live stream, here are some links:

Axel Sypkens Smit reacted to Altecice in Need mor LAN ports
Just going to point out that if you are going to be adding alot more devices a hub will not be ideal and may slow things down. A switch would be a much better option.
The difference between a hub and a switch:
Hub = one collision domain, one message in one port gets forwarded out all the other ports (so each device has to process every packet on the network to discover if its for them or not, as you can imagine in a larger network this will become a real issue) Also there is a security risk if every devices receives all packets.
switch = each port is one collision domain, one message in will only be forwarded to the correct port out (Switches hold a MAC address table so it knows where each packet is going to and from) This means no security risk and no packet storms of messages from every device to every other device.
----
Most of this wont apply to you (like security issues) but now you know the difference
