  1. Well, im in an interesting predicament. I just sold my desktop, and after about a week of the person saying it worked great, he had troubles with it shutting off randomly during use. A freash copy of windows 10 was put on it, and i have a few theories. Could it be drivers? bios issues? or corrupt OS? i am currently having him run the bios and see if it still shuts down. If not would windows reinstall fix it? and how can he reset it if he cant get into windows before it shuts down? safe mode?
  2. thank you all for your input! very helpful. i will be wiping the hard drives, and i have software to make it where no one can recover my data. and i am selling it with the case and psu, so Philosophy, i dont understand your comment. finally, a lot of your estimates seem quite low? it would cost about 1000 to build it today, i would think i could at least get 6-700 for it, especially considering it has almost no issues. maybe that because im attached to it, but 300-500 seems a bit low for a fairly high end, water-cooled gaming PC, even a slightly used one.
  3. Hello, i am about to move to college, and my PC setup is quite large, I'm afraid i cant take it with me. I am looking to sell it and possibly get a new gaming laptop. However, i don't know how to price a slightly used PC. I will list the parts below, any help from people who have experience selling used parts, please give me any advice you think of, including how/where to sell it. Also, if you arnt an expert on selling used parts, please comment on how much you think you would pay for it, if you were looking to buy a used PC. Thank you! PARTS: CPU: FX-8320, nothing wrong with it, using it for about 19 months now. cooler: i got a set from frozen cpu, i really didnt need a watercooler, becasue i did not overclock, but i didnt know too much about what i was doing) radiator: 360 xspc radiator res/pump: dual bay combo from xspc fans: 3 120mm fans that came with the set, high static preasure, fairly quiet GPU: ASUS R9 270X 2GB, RAM: 8GB Gskill ripjaw x 2133 MOBO: asus m5a97 R2.0 PSU: rosewill hive 750w modular 80+ bronze Case: in win GRone SSD: samsung 840 evo 120GB HDD: WD blue 1TB OS: win 8 pro Ya i take decent care of it, cleaning out dust every few months, its not very dusty here, so it doesnt need it too often. i built it 19mo ago, but put in the water loop about 10 mo ago, i changed the water out 4mo ago. i did upgrade the gpu about 10 mo ago, so its a little newer. i still have all the parts that go with the case that i didnt use(hdd cages, screws, ect.) just incase the new owner would like to change it up. it runs well, decent gaming machine. i have put almost 1100 into it(yes i know i could have been smarter about my parts and gotten a nicer, faster computer for less, but it is my first PC, so its not perfect. the only major issue is the water pump makes a small rattling noise, its not noticeable when playing music, or a game, but while the speakers aret busy, it is noticable.
  4. First, i want to say you guys rock! i have not been the most active member on your website, but i have enjoyed all of your videos, and you are one of the few channels id be willing to follow to a new system like vessel, leaving you tube behind(just for your channel, i will still use it) Now for the info Username:Joshuatree favorite video: https://www.vessel.com/videos/JYZEYDYx0(hard piping is sexy) second favorite:https://www.vessel.com/videos/EskapF9Yn Shares: https://twitter.com/chatham1997/status/580592913962414081 https://twitter.com/chatham1997/status/580593907995676672
  5. Also, i do game a lot so i would like a sub for the explosions and other sound effects, but if getting a higher quality set of bookshelf speakers would really improve my audio for the extra money, i would do that for sure
  6. so is Pioneer a good company? i found these previous generation speakers that arnt to expansive, but if they arnt good, i would like to know why. It is a set of bookshelf speakers, and a sub. Pioneer SP-BS21-LR and Pioneer SW-8-K 100W edit: how does wattage affect an amps performance? and what other factors are important for quality sound, but also being able to play music with some volume behind it.
  7. So Corsair=no, Hi-fi audio is good, what other companies are generally good for speakers?

    Need audio!

Okay, so here is what i need help with. I want to replace my speakers for my desktop. i currently have the logitech z506 5.1 surround system. i would like a set-up with better quality for under $200. I would like a 2.1 system. I dont know enough about audio to be confident in a purchase, hence why i am coming to the forums. I would not mind a dac, and im not a huge headphones fan so i do need nicer speakers. size of the speakers should't matter, and i would like it if they came in a black version. thank you all, i look forward to seeing your suggestions.
  9. I attached a picture of my home layout, i did not list the devices in the picture, but i have a list below Devices Office -desktop -modem -old router -power line adapter Living room -xbox lil sisters room -desktop -power-line adapter sisters room -laptop Bedroom 2(my room) -desktop -laptop -powerline adapter Bedroom 1(parents) -xbox -laptop -so that is a list of the devices in what rooms, obviously the phones and laptops move around. the only things that consistently use wired connections are the 3 desktops, and the xbox down stairs( we plug in our laptops if we use them near a open port) i did list the networking devices where they are now. The only requirements for where networking devices go for the new set up is the router and modem in the office, for the coax cable. -not 100% sure if that king of picture is what you meant, and sorry that its not to amazing. 10. I have been meaning to redo my home network for some time, and finally ordered a few parts. I am looking for advice on how to use my hardware, and what hardware might be worth investing in. i will list the hardware below, and what devices i will be using(there are a lot of them) NOTE: I have Comcast high speed internet. -i also have a large sheet of ply-wood and might use it as a mount Hardware- Asus n900 router(new router) linksys 54Mbps router(old router) TP-Link 5 port un-managed switch Power-line adapter set( 3 piece set, 1 connected to router, 1 with one ports, and the other with 4 ports) modem-idk the model, but it is old, im not sure how much it will help, but i think our ips can bring us a new one) -i do have a raspberry pi that i enjoy using to learn programming, and i know some people use them for networking, so if anyone knows a way i could use this, that would be cool. Between my family of 5, we have 3 desktops, 3 laptops, 5 smartphones, 2 Xbox 360's. -3 of us game on our desktops -between the 5 of us, we stream Netflix almost daily -we all print things, so i will be using one of the usb ports to make a print server -i would like a NAS, but idk if i want to spend the money, wondering if using the other usb on the router as a FTP is worth it. EDIT: -i do occasionally throw lan parties, with many PCs/Xboxs so having a couple extra lan ports in my room or the living room is nice
  11. I do not personally keep up with i3 or i5 intel chips, so i will refrain from saying which one is better, but i personally have an FX-8320 and a R9 270x in my system, and i do light video editing and a lot of gaming. while it doesn't compare to any high end intel chips (i7 or xeon) it can handle some video editing if you make a video or two a week, and when it comes to gaming, while some say the i5-4460 is better, the 8320 will NOT hinder your R9 270x at all. (i would recommend 16GB of ram though, while 8GB was doing okay for me, there was a huge deference in video editing when i switched to 16GB)
  12. I know we are all supposed to care about performance over looks, BUT my favorite item to win would be the Accent lighting kit because while the other products may help my preformence, its not by much and the lights would match the ones i already have on my desk and make my work space look even more Bad Arse. (picture of my desk, sorry for poor quality)
  13. i like gtx 980's and both of those cards would match my build. and i like linus tech tips, so ya. id love to win. You guys are great, thanks
  14. Since this video was about thanking everyone involved in your community, i would like to thank you. About a year ago i found the error in my console gamer ways, and decided to build a PC.(PC master race ftw) Ever since then i have relied on you and your channel for information about products. i currently own a G502, G710+, an 840 evo, and an r9 270x (i got it on a sale, otherwise i would have just overclocked a 270) and all of those products were at least partially, if not fully inspired by your videos.( i have never heard of the G502 until your video). so ya, i am very thankful of you and your staff for creating such a wonderful business and community
