  1. Neither the FBI, CISCO, nor the Justice Department allege in the linked statements that VPNFilter was created and distributed by Russia—that language was included solely by ArsTechnica. They either spoke anonymously with people involved or are adding that language without substantiation. Regardless, according to CISCO's statement, only 500,000 devices have been infected worldwide, of which the majority are located in Ukraine. They also seem to suggest that the infected devices are only those with very little security that directly access the Internet. It's unlikely that the average person's router in the United States is infected.
  2. Oh my god sorry people lol. I am officially the forum idiot.
  3. twitch.tv/linus redirects to a notice of justin.tv's shutdown. Did Linus not transfer his account or something? What's going on?
  4. Just looked at their website, and you're right. Their payment model's actually pretty genius—reminds me of Steam. I thought there might be day one DLC or so, but no. They'll have to really market their game to make it popular enough to be profitable, though. Or depends on the excitement of their fans, and how many of the UT series fans they still have.
  5. I'd be interested more, but the free to play kind of makes me wonder where the money's going.
  6. WHY IS THIS IN THE NEWS SECTION
  7. There is no difference in behavior that separates a human from a sufficiently fast neural net-based processor. I don't care about the human "soul." That's such a vague term that it's essentially useless.
  8. I wouldn't call the human brain "more advanced" over a processor chip. They're different architectures and are therefore better at different things. For instance, try to calculate 3,192 * 41,331 faster than a computer processor. Also, I think it's pretty outspoken to say that "nothing can be matched to the intelligence of the human brain's way of thinking." The entire point of neural networking (the architecture that this IBM processor is based on) is to emulate the thinking patterns of the human brain, and, because of shrinking transistor sizes and the advantages of inorganic processors (e.g. relying on fiber optics instead of neurons), eventually processors based on that architecture will be faster thinkers than their biological counterparts.
  9. I can't believe Huffington Post can get away with posting content completely different from the headline. The structure of the article is essentially this: P1: We aren't receiving word on Half-Life 3 P2: Valve: "We saw the promise of multiplayer communities and games in a time where they were nonexistent" C1: Given premise two, Valve has said they aren't interested in working on Half-Life 3 P3: Valve has no management Final conclusion: Given premise one, conclusion one, and premise three, Valve SAYS Half-Life 3 "isn't happening" "Says Valve"? Seriously? Come on.
  10. Here are updated pictures. The first one is the cables to the far right. I realize that they say PCI-E, meaning they are to be plugged into the PCI express slots, it's the cables to the far left in the second photo that I'm confused about. http://imgur.com/a/7RaUg Power supply is a SeaSonic Platinum 860W. The GPUs are two EVGA 780 Tis.
  11. All these cables don't really fit for my GPUs...I really need help. Here's the dilemma in picture form: http://imgur.com/a/3oFT9 I don't know the names for these cables and I don't know why I don't just have the cables for the right sockets. Can anyone use the last slide (all the cables that came w/ my PSU) to tell me which cables to attach to my GPUs? Help is appreciated.
  12. @Shd0w2 Also, are you sure the 2400 MHz is worth it? I got the 1866 MHz RAM because it had good timings (9-9-9-24) and games tend to do best at 1866 MHz (source ). Other than that, looks like a good case and all. And I would reply sooner but I'm doing this all on a phone in the middle of nowhere (no internet here—just cell reception).
  13. Thanks for the advice—I knew it had an exhaust but I thought two fans would cool the GPU more efficiently. I guess it makes sense now though to have the heat removed from the case entirely. The build will be for gaming / video editing / level creation in source and UE4 / programming. Thanks for the recommendation. The entire purpose of this build, in fact, was to make it ready to upgrade to a 4k monitor. And despite the releases of affordable 4k monitors, they're all on TN panels and have slight color issues. I was waiting for a 4k IPS-panel monitor to be released at an affordable price before upgrading. I agree, though, it's a little overkill. If you think that Samsung's 4k monitor is good, though, I'll go for it. Otherwise I might just not get the second GPU.
  14. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ceraex/saved/BsK2FT Hey guys. My brother said that I might want to look into water cooling for a 2-way SLI setup since it might get a little hot. I was wondering what you guys thought about the airflow in this system based on all of the choices I've made. I'm replacing all of the fans in the case, putting two 120 mm Noctua fans at the front and one 120 mm noctua fan at the back. The 780 Tis I'm getting are the ASUS versions with two fans each. Do you guys think this will have sufficient airflow to keep temps below 80 degrees or should I implement a water cooling loop? Thanks in advance.
