Looks like they updated the end of the thread saying that a firmware update is coming out end of April. Fingers crossed it fixes the turbo write issue.

Hey NewMaxx, great to see you on here. When I first installed the drive, I was seeing around 5GB/s. I'm thinking that something in a Windows update screwed up the TRIM. The drive's been idle for around a week at this point, and I've run optimization manually a few times. I'm hoping they push an update soon, it's strange that Samsung omitted the 980 pro from their nvme firmware package.

The behavior does seem to match direct writing to TLC. I'm seeing the drive max out at almost exactly 2.2GB/s. I have the Windows "write caching" policy on, but it doesn't seem to make a difference because the drive seems to be ignoring the SLC cache. Samsung support seems to just want to process an RMA, but I'm pretty sure a new drive will show the same problem. For the time being, 2.2GB/s isn't too much to complain about, just wondering if anyone's found a workaround.

Hey, As a general rule, most cellphones without Qualcomm quick charge or a Samsung equivalent technology will charge on 5v and 1-2 amps of current. Anything higher than that and you will fry the battery. Technically even quick charge slowly kills the battery, but it intelligently switches between 14v-12v-8v-5v (and various amperages) in order to minimize the damage and charge time. I don't believe the G3 has quick charge, but I encourage you to check for yourself. If the original charger pumped out 1.8 amps, then 2 amps at 5 v should be fine . I recommend any Anker product on Amazon or anywhere else as they are a reputable manufacturer. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Can you post a picture of where the Hard drive connects to the laptop? Assuming that website is correct, then the laptop only supports IDE drives and therefore the drive in your OP will not work, as it is a SATA drive.

    Hello,

I have not used AutoCad and am not familiar with it's system requirements, but I have used solidworks which is pretty similar. I am currently running it on a asus n550jv with a 850m gpu and intel core i7 4700hq, and it will run smoothly on small parts, but as an assembly or part gets larger and more complicated, it almost becomes impossible to work with it in detailed line viewing mode. If your old laptop has served you well, and you are mostly dealing with small parts and assemblies, then I think that the lenovo or the g550jk will serve you well, but If you have been having lag issues, then you might want to consider a laptop with a certified workstation Gpu. In reality gaming graphics cards should offer more performance for a lower price, but the nvidia drivers and the Autodesk support may offer more performance. Of course take this all with a grain of salt, you do need a discrete gpu if you intend to use autocad for anything more than drawing a circle, but you may not need a workstation gpu. This subject is highly debated online, and I poked around a bit but was unable to find any recent comparison results.

Hope this helps you in your decision
