The Cool n00B reacted to Elerek in Best overkill 1070??
here ya go http://www.anandtech.com/show/10926/galax-shows-off-single-slot-geforce-gtx-1070-graphics-card
jk, I have an EVGA SC 1070. It's stable at over 2ghz, haven't tried pushing it over that so I don't know where it caps out. Bought it for $380
edit: Mine's in a extreme worst case scenario as far as cooling goes, the way my setup is it faces the motherboard with stuff on 3 sides, so it only really gets airflow from behind and a little on the top, but it stays under 80 C like a champ with a slight bump on the fan curve. Even then I can't hear it over the 80mm noctua's on my radiators.

The Gigabyte G1 Gaming is pretty sweet. I have one and so does my friend. His runs at 2060 MHz without touching ANYTHING. It sits stably at 2160 when I give it a little more juice. Mine is happy at 1975 Mhz without touching anything, and easily hits 2050 when I max out voltage, power target and add like +80 Hz on the core.
Not sure what its retailing for now though.

Well the i5 because games won't use multiple cores so the hyperthreading will be useless as far as you'll be conserned.
As far as the PSU, witness:

Didn't you read the post? This one is the official unofficial server, and replaces all other servers because they are inferior to this one

I know about that server but it seems relatively small and lacks forum integration. I plan to promote this server and to collaborate with the forum mods.

The Cool n00B reacted to Enderman in Be careful with ebay GPU purchases
wtf?
so you bought a GPU from an ad that specifically said "r9 390" and happened to have a picture of a 390x, and you didnt even ask to confirm???
who taught you how to shop??
-
The Cool n00B reacted to HPWebcamAble in Be careful with ebay GPU purchases
I remember a hilarious Judge Judy episode where a woman bought a phone from some person on Ebay, and received a PICTURE of said phone instead of an actual phone.
Needless to say, Judge Judy ripped the seller a new one

The Cool n00B reacted to Enderman in Be careful with ebay GPU purchases
and you bought it anyway???
what kind of logic is that?
"oh theres 50 50 chance this is a 390 or a 390x, im going to spend my money without even asking first"
-
The Cool n00B got a reaction from Enderman in Be careful with ebay GPU purchases
No, it's not. In that situation, an educated shopper/ebay buyer would ask the seller whether it's a 390 or 390x. Either way, the listing said 390, so go with that. Just because the photo happened to be of a 390x doesn't mean that the product is a 390x, which is why you ask. As far as I'm concerned, while the photo was wrong, so are you.

Um... Single user mode??

EDIT: I knew about this solution already, but this isn't hard to figure out with a quick Google search, and you probably wasted your time typing up a thread and waiting for a reply.

Seeing as I didn't know about your solution, or whether it works, I'm sorry. I won't do it next time.

cryorig
instead of making a current mac pro-esque case
make an older mac pro-esque case
I'm sure people would be much more inclined to pay the piper for a Power Mac G5/Mac Pro 2006-2012 case.

Looks interesting, if only because case makes have absolutely no creativity with itx cases. More discreet looking cases!
Would love to see Luke to a review of this and other 'different' itx cases.
Cryorig also made a rather unique case/monitor stand that apparently wasn't as news-worthy since there's no "mac ripoff" factor.

The data has optional fields, what he's trying to get isn't always in the same place so that won't work.

Please, console gamers...don't be this guy. This is an updated video to one this guy made. He is an XBox fanboy, and he makes it pretty obvious. He has absolutely NO idea what he is talking about most of the time, and is just...the worst. However, the video is good for a few laughs!!!
By the way, here is my reaction/reply video to it. I wonder if he will ever watch it. Also, might be good for a few laughs!
(I apologize for the white noise, I got the mic for free)

I would use PlastiDip since it's not conductive, even when it's a liquid.

The Cool n00B reacted to ChineseChef in Request: Add Links to Vessel Videos
In the vessel videos, you have the video boxes/annotations for where links are when the video is on YouTube. But in vessel, those are just parts of the video and don't link to anything; unless I am just dumb and haven't figured out how to use them. Also, at the end of the videos you talk about "click our links" to sponsors/affiliate codes/whatever, and those links are again not on the vessel video, since this is still a YouTube thing. These extra links you talk about are rarely in the description, or anywhere on the video's "page". It is actually kind of a pain to find those videos or links sometimes if you actually want to click them. Please simply add the links in the details section where you have the links for the music and such. @LinusTech @Slick

The Cool n00B reacted to infamoustrey in Networking at Grandma's House
Story Time!
Today has been an interesting day. I showed up at my grandparents house last night, exhausted from the trip with the rest of the family. So this morning I wake up to a shouting match between family members over the internet. Long story short, a network built for two old people was not ready for 10+ people media consumption.
So naturally my family turns to me and says fix it. Time to work for my free meals. Grandpa is a Doctor so he's away, so I spend the next hour or so digging around for the network setup. It's in his study on his desk. It was the stuff of nightmares. No but it was really bad. Anyway I didn't take pics but it was essentially a directTV on demand adapter, a sonos player, and a mac all hooked up to one of these disgusting things. Instantly I recognized this was the bottleneck in the system. But I could do little about it, Doc wouldn't get back till 7pm that night and I didn't have the transportation to go out and buy a new router. Undeterred I kept looking around, He has a lot of apple products, he just doesn't know how to use them all. And as luck would have it he has one of these, plugged in powered on but not hooked up to the modem. :l
And now everyone is happy with speeds hitting 50mbs+
Thanks for letting me share guys!
