Nathaniel Vazquez reacted to LAwLz in Ex-Google VP: Android is the reason your phone takes worse pics than iPhone
I think his post is misleading.
What he is talking about is third party camera apps. As long as you use the first party camera app Android itself is no different than iOS in terms of "holding the camera back". An OEM can do whatever they want in their own camera app without needing approval from Google.
However, if Samsung implements something special and want third party developers to be able to use it too then yes, they have to go to Google and convince them.
That was the only reason why I stuck with the first party ROM for my Galaxy S 4. Because third party camera apps sucked and will continue to suck.
As soon as you open up the stock camera app on your phone his entire argument becomes invalid.

The part about "the end of DSLRs for most people" is misleading too. Most people never used or needed a DSLR to begin with, so it never begun. Can't have an end without a beginning.
As for the people who still use DSLRs, they do so because of the lenses. You need different lenses for different things, and as long as smartphones don't have a lens mount they will always be in a completely different category than DSLRs.

Smart phone cameras can't compare to full frame, no, but how many people buy full frame DSLR cameras?
    Very few.

Apple does an excellent job with its cameras, yes, but that's what happens when you control both the software and hardware at that level. I don't think the top performers from Samsung, HTC, etc are that far off of Apple tbh. Look at the Pixel. It's widely known to have an amazing camera.

I think this is more an opinion piece than fact.

Nathaniel Vazquez reacted to Moress in Top Tier RX Vega card rumored to be more expensive then the GTX 1080TI
If this is true, I would guess its the fault of AMD's obsession with using HBM2 for their high end cards, despite its minimal improvements for gaming and terrible yields (thus high prices)

Nathaniel Vazquez reacted to Okjoek in Top Tier RX Vega card rumored to be more expensive then the GTX 1080TI
I was certain that this hardware needed to be on the market months ago. This is confirming my fears that Vega will be a failure. Atleast Raven Ridge integrated graphics will give Vega a market to shine at.

I cant watch the video currently but are we acting shocked that a 4.9ghz 7700k is faster than a 4.0ghz 1600?

and at $224.00 vs the i7s $330.00 price point with that performance difference "king" is technically right but...not to anyone with any kind of monetary sense.

I would expect them to be since it was said that all Ryzen CPU's will be unlock and this AFAIK falls under the Ryzen name.
also for what reason do they have to lock it.

Are these using the same socket (AM4) and boards? or will it need a specific board?
If you can put it in a B350 or X350 board I expect it can be overclocked.

I'd be more concerned about using drivers that have yet to be fully optimized for games and hardware reviewers who test that sort of thing. If AMD were confident that Vega FE right now both hardware and drivers were representative of what gamers would be buying they would have sent out review samples.

Nathaniel Vazquez reacted to Taf the Ghost in US tech firms pledge to defy Trump on withdrawal from the Climate Change Agreement
Yawn.  All show. The major tech companies have their products actually produced in countries that won't really be affected (or not just outright lie) about their effects. The Finance Class & Companies (of which Tech, due to its R&D At Home; Manufacture Away setup, is a major player) are pissed off because they wouldn't be able to rob the States of 100s of Billions.

When the Tech Companies start talking about putting 10s of Billions into next generation Nuclear development (or even Thorium Reactors), then they're be worth listening to.

A quad core apu with RX 470 performance would be the ultimate console-killer setup for me.  Put it in a tiny case with a decent cooler, use the space that otherwise would have gone to the GPU to stuff a 2x120 rad inside.  Add an SSD or two.

And that's pretty much it.  1080p60 on high/ultra settings, in a box the size of a modern game console.

Nathaniel Vazquez reacted to handymanshandle in There's too many hate for Christians around the World
I'm generally okay with Christians as long as they're not trying to spout homophobic messages or wanting to kill or imprison gay people.
My biggest problem with some Christians is that they try to promote or shove their believes down others throats. The ones that target people going through hardship and then possibly scam those people out of money.
I want religion as far away from politics and public education as possible because I strongly believe in separation of church and state.
I don't think a business should be able to use their religious believes to not serve a customer on those grounds, so yea. I don't like "religious freedom" bills like the one in Indiana. Though at the same time it kinda seems like arguing for or against those kinds of bills turns into like a revolving door. Similar story for the bathroom bills.
But if a business that claims to be a Christian business and does something that generally isn't considered cool. Like refusing to serve gay people. That business potentially closing is arguably just capitalism doing its thing.
