  1. Thanks guys, I am aware that it is backwards compatible, just want to be able to get the most out of the console / any future PC upgrades
  2. Hello forum! I’m from the UK and trying to get a hold of an Xbox series X which supports HDMI 2.1, so was also looking to upgrade to a 2.1 compatible monitor or quick response rate TV. What (preferably) monitors are there on the market at the moment with HDMI 2.1?
  3. Hi there LTT community! I'm looking at either a new build or upgrading my existing one and need some help! My primary use is gaming, usually; GTA V, Battlefield V, PUBG and some others with much lower requirements. I spent around £1200 I believe when I built this system in 2013, if I did a full rebuild that would roughly be my budget, perhaps with a little leeway. My peripherals have all been bought over time as has storage as I've filled up drives with my game libraries. Current specs: CPU: intel i5 4670k (stock cooler) MOBO: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H RAM: 2x4GB corsair vengeance DDR3 GPU: EVGA GTX 780 3GB Storage: 240GB kingston SSD, 1TD WD Blue HDD, 1TB HDD (can't remember make) PSU: OCZ-ZT750W 80+ Bronze fully modular Case: Cooler Master HAF X Displays: 1920x1080 60Hz BenQ (primary), 1920x1080 60Hz iiyama (secondary) Other: Gigabyte PCI-e wifi card, LG DVD drive Peripherals: Razer blackwidow ultimate, deathadder, kraken 7.1, firefly mousepad I feel like my CPU is my main bottleneck currently but my GPU could probably do with a boost too. but as the next gen intel chips have a different socket I'd need a new mobo, ram..... and then the cost steadily goes up. I'd prefer to upgrade rather than build new or do a huge overhaul, but I don't think i have much options without bottlenecking. I basically want to get some more performance but am unsure if I should just wait a little longer and do a full rebuild or do some incremental upgrades if they make sense to. If I did upgrade rather than do a new build I'd definitely keep all peripherals, storage, DVD drive and probably case. I'd look at getting a newer monitor with g-sync or free-sync and higher refresh rate, but at a later date to keep costs down. SO... What would people recommend as the best way of getting some more performance without breaking the bank? OR Am I just best to wait a little longer and do a new build?
  4. Thanks, gonna have to see if I have a dvi cable lying around somewhere, if not I'll have to buy one
  5. Hi there, I recently got a second screen which I use for Skype, chrome and steam while I'm in games, when in a game the second screen flickers(don't think this is the best term to describe what's happening but can't think of a better one). It seems like it's refreshing a line at a time? Any ideas what could be causing this? I have a gtx 780 3gb, i5 4670k, 8gb ram, 760w psu, 240gb ssd, 1tb hdd x2, windows 10 64bit primary screen is 1920x1080 hdmi second screen is 1920x1080 through the vga port using a dvi to vga adapter It is shown in the video I've attached, it's not just in GTA that it does it, but it only does it when the game is what is focused (shown in video) and doesn't do it outside of games. thanks in advance for your help! 50394216502__6CDC9239-E523-4A17-A60A-B38CD6D7697E.MOV
  6. hello i am looking at replacing my 22inch tv that i have been using for my xbox 360 and pc for the last five plus years as it is on its last legs. i have been looking at getting an LG ultrawide one. so 1. what is the difference between the LG 29UB65 and the LG 29UM65 2. would you recommend either of the 2 aforementioned displays or another option (my budget is £250 or less and i wont be buying until my birthday in july so prices will have dropped by then, hopefully ) thanks for the help.
  7. Hello everyone, today I awoke to find I had received an email from what seemed to be YouTube letting me know that Linus TechTips had sent me a message letting me know that I had won a competition. (See pictures) It said to follow a link to complete an offer and claim my prize, I thought it was odd and clicked the link anyway, it took my to a page where I had to select an offer then fill out a form. I thought that Linus Media Group wouldn't do something like this (especially as one of the forms required a mobile number to send several premium rate text messages), so I looked closer at the email. This was when I realised that it wasn't the real Linus Tech Tips channel which had messaged me, the channel name had a different spacing and when I clicked on the channel name In the email it took me to The YouTube channel and it had zero subscribers, this Is when I decided to start writing this so that it can be brought to the attention of Linus Media Group. Here are some photos of what I have discovered:
  8. with all the discounts he could probable gat a 256gb ssd
  9. next week I will be returning to school for 6th form (college basically) and need a device for word processing and programming an arduino. I already have a Gaming PC so i will not need it to game on, my laptop is too big and heavy to carry in my school bag all day and my iPad can't programme an arduino. I don't have a ton of money to spare so was looking at the ASUS Transformerbook T100 which includes Microsoft Office and is only £249 Should I get the transformerbook or is there any similar alternative under £300 / US$500 ?
  10. this phone was cool already but the dbrand skin makes it look awesome
  11. Thanks for the help, I will probably go with an xps12 especially after seeing Linus save his from the rain
