Depending on how the download is done, latency can have a direct impact on download speeds.
For example TCP (which I assume is used when you download from Floatplane) will stop sending data until it gets a confirmation that the previous data was received and acknowledged. The higher the latency, the more time is spend waiting before the next set of data is sent.

On a link with 30ms latency with a standard 64KB TCP window size, you won't be able to get over 17.4Mbps throughput.

You can read more about it and how to calculate it in this article.

From the Netherlands, I can tell floatplane loads just as fast as youtube and I can watch it effortlessly via 4g in the train so I don't feel like there's any buffering problem whatsoever. Also as far as I can tell downloads from the other side of the world go just as fast as those from a server 5km from home, it's not the speed that's influenced much by distance it's primarily the latency that is far greater when a server is far away.

I'm not that great in translating what I learned in school so I googled it and someone was imo more capable than me to explain how the boiling point of two (or more) mixed fluids works. To summarize it's kind of a trajectory instead of 1 set temperature, so it'll start to boil as soon as it's hot enough for alcohol to boil but it'll continue heating until water is at it's max liquid temperature not counting all other stuff in Jägermeister for the ease of explanation. Because if you'd consider those and try to boil all liquid out of Jägermeister you would have just a messy residu of spices and such left unless you were to boil those as well lol

It's quite a bad and temporary fix until next update but it works (on chrome at least as that's where I tested it). You can add it via an add-onn like tampermonkey on chrome if you like
It makes the it look like this btw (not perfect but it works):

    I'd recommend using
$(".cProfileRepScore ~ .ipsBox .ipsGrid_span6").addClass("lmgReactionListRow_icon") inside the load function, which will make it consistent with the other rep stuff (making the resulting user script
    // ==UserScript== // @name Gimme icons // @version 0.1 // @description give a background color to fix the invisible icons on a profiles reputation page. // @author Lars // @include https://linustechtips.com/main/profile/*/reputation/* // ==/UserScript== $( window ).on( "load", function() {$(".cProfileRepScore ~ .ipsBox .ipsGrid_span6").addClass("lmgReactionListRow_icon");}); )

Zijn zat Nederlanders geabboneerd op ltt alleen niet heel veel op het forum, want hier is sowieso maar een klein deel van de volgers die hier posten.

There's plenty of Dutch people subbed to ltt, just not very many on the forum, because it's only a small part of all the followers posting here anyway.

Your logic escapes me. FPM is its own company. When it will be marketed for other creators, it won't hold any connection to LMG. Nothing so visual that stupid creature would note it. PDP might mention that platform was founded by LMG, but thats about it. Besides that, since its paid platform, you aren't gonna see too many under 15-16yo's on there. As thats lowest age for getting own payment credentials. Its not like it will be on Play store or iTunes where kids can just pay with parents CC.

This forum doesn't equal floatplane... This is the LTT forum, not the floatplane forum ?

Anyway, I think the platform isn't fully grown up yet hence why there's only three creators on it at the moment. But for the future I dunno if it matters if PewDiePie or any of the biggest youtubers there are join floatplane, it's purpose is to support a creator directly via paid subscriptions instead of solely relying on youtube for his/her income.

Kleine IJsbeer got a reaction from J.b091 in Question regarding different types of power system
It's not just the plug that is different indeed, there's different voltages as well. For most 'advanced' appliances like pc's the power supply is built to handle either voltage but it might be your heating pad doesn't adapt to the difference and 'expects' the US voltage while it gets a european voltage which is too high compared to the US standard. I'm just guessing as I have no experience with this whatsoever but it might be overvoltage protection or so blocking the device from working?

Kleine IJsbeer got a reaction from vorticalbox in Login System with many users.
Well the biggest part of handling a lot of users is the big server farm that has enough power to serve all those users in a reasonable amount of time. But the system behind logging all the users can differ a lot between different big sites as there's plenty different server sides and each has it's own advantages for certain workloads. Node.js is quite popular at the moment but apache/php servers are also still relevant for plenty of sites.

About the login system itself, well in principle you have the login action for which a server needs to compare the filled in credentials with the ones in the database and for security it's best to hash at least the password before storing it in the database (whichever one you use). After that the session is often stored in a cookie with a unique identifier which is linked to your account for the duration of the session and set to only be modified using a http cookie header from the host that encrypted it and set it so that the user can't edit it.

Or at least that is approximately what I was thought during recent lectures about web technology

Well I was writing a reply trying to help you, because to be honest I haven't had to use Linux before as I have multiple pc's running windows on which I always make my bootable drives. So I was doing a little research for you, could also tell you to use google and find out but you triggered my curiousity which is making me find this out for myself.
