Geek Squad experience follows(not sure if I posted this before)
So many years ago my grandma and grandpa took their malfunctioning 2006 mb pro to geek squad. The problem-it kept shutting off during use. 8 year old me suggested just changing the battery as that should be the problem with it shutting off. Hey, it works for rc cars, so why not a laptop? My g&g still wanted geek squad to diagnose it because "they are reaal geniuses". Anyways, the diagnoses was it be broked buy a new laptop from us. So that's what happened. I was then given the laptop because it was broken, but a few months ago I decided to try it again. I went in thinking the battery was the problem, so I took it out and plugged the laptop into its charger and viola, it works! The moral of the story-
    NEVER, EVER TRUST GEEK SQUAD!

Some kid in my class said, "It would be awesome if our school got really high tech compewters." So I responded with "sooo celerons, 512mb of ram and an underclocked gt610?" And he responded with......THOSE COMPEWTERS WOULD BE AMAZING OUR SCHOOL NEEDS THEM."
Another friend of mine asked if I could overclock his MacBook Pro to play counter strike at ultra for exactly 90 minutes, and use up all the battery (one ultra cs round per charge) and have it automatically undo the overclock after each match. He said he wanted it to look pretty like FRANKIEonPC's cs.

I started reading this forum in August and bit by bit I read more....and now I have finished...what am I doing with my life?
On topic- a few days ago my computer teacher was working on an iMac and there were some cables hanging out of the desk. I picked up an Ethernet cable and asked my friend "What is theis cable called?" He said "I don't care about Apple stuff because it sucks and no one uses it. Why should I know what an Apple cable is called?" Me=9,000% done.

This one has been mentioned a lot, but yesterday I showed my friend what I wanted to build on Part Picker. He said "Only 8 gigabytes of memory for a desktop? That's way too small of an amount." I then explained how memory is the same as RAM, and I had a 1 terabyte hard drive and 120 gigs of SSD storage.

Ok, so this dumbass who can't resize a window spent his savings ($100) on some random phone because it was the most expensive one he could buy. I asked what OS it had (it's android, I've seen it) and he didn't know what that was/that it had one. I also asked how much storage it had, because I figured he would know at least that and he said "4 metabutts". What. The. Fuck. I couldn't handle it and just walked away wondering how someone from my generation could be so ignorant about BASIC technology. I wish there was someone who was as or more knowledgeable about computers than me at my school, at least then I could say whatever I wanted without explaining/face palming.
Next story- my cousins were at my house, and one of them wanted to see my computer since he knew I built it. He sees the big, shiny monitor that lights up and says "Ooooh is that it?" followed by looking at another monitor next to it, which is currently hooked up because I don't have an extra dvi cable and says "Do you use that computer too?"
Now that alone excusable, it's a common non-techie misconception, however idiotic it may be. But it's what follows next that is the real gem....

Who wouldn't want their child to have an active mind?
    <rant>
Anyways, it kind of does get your mind active; sometimes when I'm dozing off at night and need to catch up on my YouTube vids (I have a lot more trouble spending 12 hours a day doing that during the school year than the summer) I play a few games to wake back up. Although, that isn't quite the same as just sitting at a monitor. My mom thinks that "video games and social media turn your brain to mush". Bit hypocritical coming from someone who used up our ENTIRE SHARED FAMILY MOBILE DATA watching yoga videos on Instagram. She is pretty much against technological advancement for interactive intertainment, or even learning (examples include watching videos to learn more about computers [Linus anybody?] playing video games [which surprisingly have a shitload of benefits; I did a report on it for school cus I was pissed at my mom 'bout her restrictions, after which she asked if I say anything about them 'disrupting sleep patterns'. Da fuq? I didn't, that was some bullshit she saw on Fox News] and even coding and 3D modeling. Like seriously, I can use this shit later in life in real jobs. We don't hammer penises out of stones anymore; we make them in blender.)

My friend came up to me today and said "The Razer Kraken is the best headset for gaming ever made."
    can skip following if lazy:
(I have tried them, I find them to be not super comfortable, with my ears, which are of average size, not fitting underneath the circamuaral ear cups, and the general sound quality just being average. My $i don't know how much but super cheap and totally rekt Sony headphones sounded pretty close. However, the only experience with legit good headphones has been demoing sennheisers at department stores when I went to London over winter break, so what do I know about sound quality. )
    /skip
So I asked why he thought that. His response? "They have a retractable mic that goes into the headphone, it doesn't flip up." What. The. Fuck.
Razer Krakens are NOT the only headset with a retractable mic. And that shouldn't even be a reason for why they are the best. It sould be build quality, comfort, sound quality, and mic quality. Not how the mic goes bye-bye when you aren't using it.

Nearing the end of the school year, my friend (who everyone thinks knows about computers, but doesn't even know what a SSD is) was absent. He is the person who usually sets up the history class videos on the smart board, as our history teacher is around 65 years old, and has acknowledged his tech illiteracy. So my other friend and I are selected to set up the video (he usually helps a bit, and I am to lazy to get up and deal with stuff, so I never work with the smart board). I did the "complicated" stuff (put the VHS in, turn the thing on, press play, all stuff to complicated for people in my class). So I put the VHS in, and pressed the power button, but the power LED didn't shine red. I looked down at the ground and realized the ONE job of my friend hadn't been completed: plug the stuff in to the outlet with an obvious cable. So I'm like "Hey, *friend* it's not turning on," and needless to say after five minutes of him scratching his head, I finally plugged in the cable. I get so bored that light real life trolling is the only entertaining thing i can do in school.

Is that a BAK in your profile pic? I can't tell; I'm on mobile.
My dad asked why I needed a different cpu cooler, because the stock one "should work just fine". I didn't explain to him that it was an unlocked cpu and about all te jigahurtez for oc'ing. He also asked why the windforce cooler on my GPU was so damn big and commented that Windforce is something that happens after he eats beans/Mexican food. BUT he does know quite a bit about computers, and used to right manuals for server stuff, and has helped a shitload in my first build.
