UK guys: help me put a pricetag on this PoS
GregButcher replied to GregButcher's topic in New Builds and Planning
Any other time i would go for donating, or giving it away as a hand me down, but sadly im not well off myself(this is my first year in england, im still struggling with finding any work thats not temporary) and that 50£ could feed me for 2 weeks :\ But anyway thx for the input -
Hello all, So long story short, my flatmate went on holiday to his home country and never came back(we're both immigrants and no, he not ded, don't worry) so all his crap he left on me. Between that mound of crap, was a crappy PC that the other flatmate will buy hopefully, if he can sort out windows for himself. If not, it just goes on gumtree. Anyway, I'm not very well versed in prices around here especially 2nd hand stuff, but im guessing its not worth too much. I dont have exact specs but i can recall the important parts off the top of my head anyway: Intel C2Duo running around 2.5GHz, some really old one(the socket is, but the chipset isnt even viable for a q6600 upgrade) 3 GB RAM 300GB Maxtor Sata drive Geforce 7600 GPU Generic case, generic PSU 17" HP monitor, 1280x1024 M, KB Im going to plough the HDD clean and just put linux on it to show its functioning. To be honest it'd be pretty decent as a "moms email machine" sort of thing. So, my plan is to just sell it in one, and be done with it, i was thinking around 50£. Is that a viable price? Should I ask more or less? i know the monitor I could probably sell for 15-ish on its own, so thats my line of reasoning. Thanks in advance!

yeah i have to say being a 3 year old card (well technically 4 if you look at it like an upgraded 680) it didn't age too well :\ I'm really just waiting on the AMD equivalent of the 1070 as i'm combining the gpu upgrade with a freesync/gsync monitor purchase as well.

I have a gtx770, 50€ is i think a decent price for the card. I have to say i dunno how it compares to the radeon card you have in raw performance but 2gb of vram is definitely a limiting factor now, even for me and im only using a 900p monitor due to "life" reasons. I hope I was able to help you at least a bit.

Steelseries QCK Mass(6mm) here, love it but will probably upgrade to the bigger one(I think its called qck heavy) when I have the money.
-
Kinda dissapointed, yeah i know it does approx the same as the 390 but with half the power and heat, which is admirable, but from all the hype and whatnot i was expecting more... Still for the price they are giving it, its a very good deal, its just not the performance jump i was hoping for, so im definitely holding out until vega comes along

Price tag of RX 480 Revealed: $199 4GB, $229 8GB (Confirmed)
GregButcher replied to Briggsy's topic in Tech News
Reading more and more about it, as much as i was excited about this, i'm getting hesitant about upgrading from the gtx770... I am almost definitely going to go for AMD upgrade(cuz i need a new monitor and freesync is well, free) but i might wait out a more powerful card, i just hope they can get out an equally killer price-to-performance card in 350$-ish ballpark(and soon ). -
well if you know he's happy to pay his price for that then i don't see why you would hesitate.
-
well, wait until the card is out and then you'll see if it fits into your budget. Or is it urgent for your buddy?

Hey, since i still have trouble finding any zowie products to be in stock in the UK, and recently found the dreammachines DM1Pro mouse i've been really looking into it. Anyone has any experience with it? I have small-ish hands fingertip grip and I'm coming from a Roccat Kova+, what do you think how it'd fit me? It really piqued my interest but it isnt something seemingly i can try out anywhere anyway, so im looking for people who might have it/had it. Thanks in advance!

Two of the main players in ergonomic office chairs are Steelcase and Herman Miller, both are really good afaik, come with excellent warranties but prepare to dish out a lot more money for them.

I'd rather not, but it seems to be "safe".

The problem I think isn't with the Future/near-future setting itself, it opens up a lot of possibilities for fun game mechanics and whatnot, the problem is that it's the same fuckin game again, with a different coat of paint...While Activision thought they could get away with it infinitely(no pun intended...or maybe?) re-releasing the same game, this definitely shows that people will only swallow so-much of the bullshit. If you ask me COD should just go F2P with microtrsansactions, and expand on that one game for the long-term, it would make much more sense IMHO, than fragmenting their fan/userbase with yearly releases and map-packs. On the topic of BF1, I'm actually intrigued by it and there's not a lot of games covering the ww1 material afaik, gonna be interesting to see what they do with it.
