  1. Every time I try to do a windows update (in the past few months), I always get the error code. I assume it happened because, while updating the 1,000 damn languages, my cat managed to unplug the computer several times (we have terrible plugs). Anyways, I did what Windows suggested I do. -Stop windows update -delete everything under Windows>SoftwareDistribution>Downloads and DataStore -start windows update -do an update That didn't work. Then I downloaded and ran Microsoft Fix It. That didn't do anything.
  2. Thanks guy. Luckily Amazon took care of everything!
  3. Yup, found that out when I was researching my problem. Will do, and I'm returning them. A friend has a headset I can borrow for a while. Check back in 10-15 minutes for the pictures. Third party from Amazon. Look up AudioDeluxe, they have some nice reviews. Check back in 10-15 minutes for the pictures. I couldn't find their email support, but I'm returning them. Could use the extra money for now.
  4. I knew I should of bought new, but I wanted to save the $60. Never again. Thanks, man.
  5. All the other headsets I use sound fine, just these ones. It could be a possibility that they're fake, although their Amazon has 4.9 star rating with over 1.3k votes. I would more than likely bet they're not fake. I don't think they would risk their reputation. I've been having some bad luck lately, so it's possible, haha. As mentioned before, I don't think they would risk their reputation on Amazon for a couple extra bucks. (although sending back fakes sounds like something that would happen ) I am leaning more towards the refurbishment being the cause.
  6. So I purchased Beyerdynamic's DT 770 Pro 250 ohms. Professional headphones (arguably), $170-ish (refurbished); should be godly, right? Unfortunately, that wasn't quite the case. There is little to no bass, and the audio itself sounds atrocious. Apple headphones sound better. The only bonus so far is that they are the most comfortable things I have ever put on my head. So I need help determining the problem so I don't have to return them, because I really want to like them. One problem that could be the cause: they're refurbished. Could be possible that whatever problems it had previously are back. The second possible issue is that I'm using the 3.5mm jack, rather than 6.3mm (6.3 screws off). My computer/sound card does not have the right size jack. Things I've tried: So I messed with the different sound levels and it made the sound bearable, although some parts of songs did a volume dip, which is rather annoying. I also plugged in my crappy $40 sound card, hoping that by some miracle it would help. It did not. It made it worse. I'm also going to contact them directly soon and see if they can determine the problem. Thanks in advance!
  7. In a well-built headset, I assume that the wire is the most likely item to break.
  8. Good advice, thank you. But the only thing I don't like with these is the wire. Unlike the headset I mentioned, it doesn't look like it has a removable cable. Which isn't a big issue, but an issue nevertheless. Is that replaceable also, do you know?
  9. I do like the sound of the surround sound, since I've never had any experience with it. But, because they're cheap, they probably won't be too good with loud music. Or they're break over time (a lot quicker than something that's a bit more expensive). Also, those are more tuned for gaming, which I don't do as much as I'd like. Oh man, that's a very good looking headset (based on reviews). I'm actually highly considering them. Would you recommend at a sound card with this? If so, which one?
  10. Interested in a headset that is amazing with everything I throw at it. Somethings I'm looking for: - No crackling when playing sounds at a loud volume - No microphone - Excellent game, movie and music audio quality - Good bass - Durable, long lasting - Comfortable, not too heavy - Noise canceling would be nice - No one can hear what I'm hearing while it's on - Over-ear, not on-ear - Preferably less than $200, but not a requirement I'm currently looking at Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Headphones (Amazon) for $169. The reviews are decent as well, with most rating it at 5-stars. Got any suggestions? (Personal experience would be much appreciated!)
  11. Yeah, I tried that before. It actually made it kind of worse. I heard the 7.1 adapter fixes the problem, but if I wanted to shell out an extra $20-30, I would've gotten the G430s.
  12. Hmm, that didn't help at all although it helped me learn some things. For example, there's background noise only at 96000 Hz and up. Anything lower than that, my voice sounds like it's from a laptop microphone. edit: at 10 dB boost, there's very little background noise but I'm still too quiet for my liking. At 20 dB boost, my voice volume is perfect but the background noise got louder as well.
  13. So my G230's have come in yesterday and they're awesome, so far. The only problem I have is the microphone is really quiet. I can make them louder using microphone boost, although there would be an annoying background noise. (Uploaded the background noise as a file attachment.) -I'm using the on-audio driver (Realtek HD Audio) -Tried it on an Asus Xonar DGX sound card, same problem. -Tried it on my laptop, same problem -Tried the front port, same problem -Tried 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) all the way to 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) -Contacted Logitech and no response as of yet -All drivers are up-to-date -Used Audacity, Skype, and 'Listen to this device', so it's not software. -The background noise doesn't cut off when I talk I don't want to return a second headset so hopefully one of you kind people know the solution. background noise.wav
  14. Yeah, I did a calculator too and got 630 min, 680 max (overclocked). I have no idea how I got 900+ last time. Thank you for trying to help and all, and I understand why I should get a lower wattage one, but I'm stuck on 1200w. It's one of things I'm stubborn about.
  15. Not quite. Like I said, it'll take 4 months minimum before I get it. Besides, these are just plans for now. I might never get it, who knows. Way. (Read next quote reply, too.) I should have mentioned that I input two graphics cards (which is what I was planning before I decided to get the single 780 Ti instead, which I might double later on). I forgot which one, but this one calculator gave me 980 watts as the answer after I input everything. I also didn't include the 2nd watercooling system (since I decided to l. cool the GPU afterwards). I'm sure a 1k will work, but I don't want it to be under 98% load when I'm using the heck out of my computer, as it will reduce its life-expediency (not sure if correct term). I'm sure a 1200 watt under 80-90% load will last much longer than the 1k. If you want, I can do another Wattage calculator; but I don't know which one I should do, so if you have any recommendations, lemme hear it. One more question, should I have the fans on top of the radiator or should the radiator be on top of the fans?
  16. Every wattage calculator I did estimated 800-1000 watts. And I picked 1200 watts because I don't know what kind of upgrades I'll be doing and I want the PSU to handle everything I throw at it for the next several years. And thanks for the 4790k suggestion. I looked it up and it looks a lot better.
  17. Note: I won't be getting these parts for a long time, estimated 4 months minimum. This will also be my second build, ever. Build type: Gaming/editing/Facebooking It all starts out with the case: the BitFenix Ghost. For some reason, I am stuck on this case and, because of my stubbornness, will not be changing it. All fans will be replaced with Noctua's 120mm fans. (5 fans total. A 6th fan might be added at the bottom of the case depending on how much room there is after I install the PSU.) Inside will be the ASUS Z97-A motherboard, planted with the Intel Core i7-4770K (OC'd to 4.2-4.5 Ghz). To keep that badboy from overheating on an intense game of Minesweeper, I'll be liquid cooling it with the Corsair H100i at the top of the case. (Quick question: should I screw the radiator on top of the fans, or the fans on top of the radiator?) Next comes the RAM. There will be two sticks of G.Skill Trident X, for a total of 16GB (might add another two sticks in the future). The graphics card might be the most challenging part of this build. To make sure I get an average of 30-35 FPS on Solitaire at 360p, I'll be including the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti. To keep it cooler than Johnny Depp going to children hospitals in full Jack Sparrow attire, I'll be liquid cooling it with the help of NZXT's Kraken G10 GPU Bracket. Attached to the bracket will be Corsair's H105, which will be placed in the front of the case. I'll be removing the SDD and HD drive mounts to make this possible. Note: according to a NZXT rep on some forum, the Kraken G10 supports 780 Ti cooling; and according to the Kraken G10 site, it supports the H105 system. Depending on how much space there is, I might include an additional GTX 780 Ti at a way later date. To power everything, I'll be installing Corsair's AX1200i (1200W) power supply. Because I plan on getting into photography, I'll be including a Rosewill SD Card reader. Please, if there's anything you would rather recommend, let me know. Additional info: - One Samsung 840 EVO 1 TB SSD - One Western Digital 1 TB Hard Drive (Blue) - 3-5 plugged in USB devices at all times - One DVD-RW optical drive Estimated build cost (for those that are too lazy to do the math, no s/h or tax): $2847. I'm choosing some of the best parts so I can play games for the next several years without needing to upgrade.
  18. So I'm currently planning my future build, and I'm trying to plan everything so that I have little to no complications. I'll be liquid cooling my GPU with the help of the NZXT Kraken G10 GPU Bracket. What I want to know is: Is there enough room to place the Corsair H105 in the front of the case? I'm fairly sure it'll fit vertically and horizontally, but what about the thickness (63mm total, and HD/SSD drives mounts in place)? Will I need to remove the drive mounts? From the videos I've watched, the SDD mount can be removed, but what about the HDD (no video takes it out or mentions if it is removable or not)?
