Maybe I could try adjusting the cooling fan curve of the artic freezer to a more aggressive-louder setting to see how it performs. Unfortunately i think that there is no space to mount a liquid cooler on my 912 HAF case so this option is out of the equation. (It's a big case but there is no space above the motherboard to fit a radiator with fans.)

For some reason I couldn't find any of the duo tower thermaltake coolers on the greek market. I have some coupons and on sale could get the noctua nhd15 for around 80 euros. Or I'll just search for a cheaper duo tower cooler from another company based on availability. For now I'll stick with the freezer duo as I use the pc mostly for gaming and the temps don't raise that much under this load. I might even change my mind in the long run and never upgrade to a bigger cooler. Only time will tell!

Thank you everyone for clearing things up. I think I'll stay with the freezer duo for now and wishlist the Noctua NH-D15NH-D15 chromax.black so I can buy it when it goes on sale!

Thanks for the reply. Can you give me some suggestions on which air coolers would be enough to handle this kind of thermal load?

Hello everyone! I recently upgraded to a i5 14500 with an MSI Pro B760 Gaming motherboard and used my old and trustworthy artic freezer 34 eSports duo cooler by getting the LGA 1700 adapter. I tried to run a CPU stress test and noticed through hwinfo that the CPU reached 100 degrees in 10 seconds while pulling around 220 watts. During idle and normal use the temps are acceptable. Is this normal? Is the cooler really not enough for this CPU? Also I noticed that the p cores only reach 4.6Ghz instead of the rated 5Ghz. Can you please advice?

Making Ram Speeds and XMP clear
Christof1st replied to Christof1st's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I see. So as long as a motherboard supports XMP that means that you can add any speed of RAM you prefer but as you get higher and higher there will be a greater chance of it failing. Right? Also what do you think about what AppleFreak said? -
Hello there! I would like to ask some questions in order to make clear some things about RAM Speeds. I own an ASUS B360-F Gaming https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b360-f-gaming-model/spec/ paired with an Intel i5 8400 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/126687/intel-core-i58400-processor-9m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz/specifications.html By checking the 2 sites above i get this info: Intel states that the max RAM Speed is DDR4-2666 while Asus states: Memory 4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 2666/2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory Dual Channel Memory Architecture Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) * Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs. ** DDR4 2666MHz and higher memory modules will run at max. 2666MHz on Intel® 8th Gen. 6-core or higher processors. Both of the manufacturares say that max speed is 2666 MHz but Asus says that it supports XMP. What does this actually mean? Can i install for example a 2x8GB Kit running at 3600MHz if i enable XMP?

Hello everyone, I just bought a new cpu motherboard ram combo and after booting and installing everything i got on speccy to see the temps and im getting 50 degrees on idle. Is this normal? Im planing to change the thermal paste but i think this shouldnt have hapenned in the first place. The heatsink is correctly possitioned.

As there arent many options in the store i want to buy. Is there anything bad with the first motherboard? (Appart from the overclocking part)

If someone can suggest the best motherboard for this build i would be gratefull. I want it to be good so around this budged im ok! Thanks!

What do u suggest?

Nice thanks. Right now i have a hyper-x ssd so for now its more than ok! But you are right! I am planning to do that in the feature!
