  1. Just got some SW1 fans for my birthday and tried to install them just now. Seems like they use an odd mounting mechanism: they want you to stick a mounting pin (with washer) through your case's fan mounting holes, then through some rubberized holes in the fan itself. Problem is: all of the holes in my case are threaded, which doesn't let the pin through. Any idea's on how to fix this? I really don't want to zip-tie them in...
  2. I would love to use this as a streaming pc combined with some media!
  3. A Corsair K70 MX Brown, a single Enermax Twister Pressure 120mm fan, two 1-to-4 PWM splitters and a new plexiglass monitor stand. Hooray!
  4. Aww, yea! Sweet giveaway! Of course my favourite item would be the Kuhler 1250, because let our framerates be high and our temperatures low!
  5. Probably GTA San Andreas. My friend owned a copy on his PC so I as you can imagine I went over there quite often
  6. I'm going to sell my old CPU and buy a 256GB SSD with it. It'll be my first :3
  7. Oh, my toughest problems have been thrown out of the window already I used to have a weird problem where I had to reboot in order to get full performance on my PC but the new mobo seems to have fixed it.
  8. Yesterday my new i5 4690k CPU and ASUS Z97-P motherboard arrived in the post, I then spent the afternoon and night installing it all. It was the first time I installed a CPU and mobo, but it all happened without too many troubles (did forget to plug in one cable, but found out within 15 minutes). I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. I even got a little bit emotional about my old stuff going into retirement. My good old i7 860 will be missed. I knew the GAME24 event was coming up at that time (for me it started at 2 AM), and was looking forward to seeing the 900-series announced. And boy it did. The pricing absolutely blew my mind: the GTX 970 seems to have an amazing price/performance ratio and the GTX 980 is just straight up baller while still affordable. Damn, I should look into getting a job now. For some reason I felt like getting up early this morning. I started installing Windows and stuff while watching the stream and being amazed by the benchmarks. I did have to go to school this morning, but I only had classes from 11 AM to 1 PM. Not that it mattered, I was smiling all the way through it. The rest of the day was mostly spent installing Windows and all of its bloody updates. All of this while conveniently having the MOD24 stream open. Loving it so far. Maybe i'll even stay up to watch it to the end. Hell, it's weekend anyway. Altogether, these few days have launched my hardware hobby through the roof. It may take some saving but one day I will run all the Skyrim mods!
  9. My motherboard is like 5 or 6 years old. It's a MSI P55M-GD45. I got it from my dad when I got my first PC (yes I'm young). It's successor is coming in the post tomorrow though . Waiting on an ASUS Z97-P and an i5 4690k. Next step is adding an SSD to that friendly guy!
  10. LMG is truly the best source for hardware stuff IMO. If I want to learn I watch Techquickie. If I want random lols I watch ChannelSuperFun. If I want a mix of both, it's LTT. And THEN if I want more I go to the forums where I can find any of the above mentioned things.
  11. I think I'll be going for a non-SLI board, probably ASUS. I'm thinking of the Z97-K right now.Again, thank you for sharing your opinion. It really helped me make my decision.
  12. And why is that? I thought I saw they had some kind of fan control.
  13. I have a single GTX 770 right now. I am (maybe was) planning to buy a second one later, but it might take me a while (realistically like 1.5 years) to get the money together. I want to buy an SSD first. Not sure if they will even be available by that time, so you may be right not recommend an SLI board. Thanks for giving your thoughts.
