    1. Go for the 1000/35 if you can afford it
    2. Check that you can use your own modem for the gigabit download plan. With Spectrum they hadn't validated any modems aside their own for gigabit so I have a SB8200 doing nothing now since I can't use it. If you can use your own modem and want the SB8200 for like $120 then I'll sell it to you (I'll make a post on the For Sale section soon anyway for it but just a heads up )

Not entirely sure which hypervisor yet, I may try esxi this time. A plex server, some windows instances and a few linux servers for messing with. May use it as a router too.

Get the server first so you can see which orientation the drives need to be in. Some el cheapo adapters don't align properly.

If you want white ram and samsung B-die I'd look at this kit.. Pretty pricey but so is all memory and this is for max performance if you plan to overclock.

The 780ti is just as powerful as a 1060 6gb. If you want an upgrade I'd go with a ssd or 1070.

You're going to need an extremely small screw extractor if they even make it that small unless you can work it out with something like a tooth pick or safety pin.

Oh after a quick googling that looks sweet, I might just add white accents but still. With plasti dip I won't void the warranty either.

The 1070 amor. Not the best cooler but it will work and currently is the cheapest while also fitting my theme. I am not ordering this for a month so that could change to a TI or maybe just the strix but that's besides the point of the post.

i7 8700k performs like r7 especially when overclocked but with much better single core performance.Intel is, again, the king

    i3 8100 >> r3
    i5 8400 > entire r5 lineup and even i5 8600k for most users
i7 8700k > r7 for all workloads, although if you intend to do heavily multithreaded stuff r7 could give the same performance for a little bit lower price and no tinkering with overclocking.

It runs fine, the 8350 gets a little warm while gaming but is also OC'd to 4.4 GHz. The R7 260X leaves a bit to be desired in 2017. It was only ~$50 out of pocket to get it up and running so I'm happy enough with it. It's kind of a conversation piece.

Try something like this. Unless you need monitor keyboard etc, this is a pretty good and well rounded build. You can exchange parts for your use and may be able to squeak out a 1070.

good advice above mostly. All you can really do is
    1. repaste with something like gelid gc extreme, which if you do this, mine as well put new thermal pads on as well such as fujipoly ultra extreme.
    2. undervolting-perhaps the simplest method to try first. throttlestop works quite well for this and you can set it to start with windows through "task scheduler". the 6700hq should have no problem with -125mV offset.
thats about it. unless you want lower temps at the cost of lower performance in which case you could change window power plan settings to utilize less than 100% max cpu performance, which would basically just disable the turbo boost.

Lower clocks but double pcie lanes, also Z370 taichi will be $200+ Getting an equivalent board will put the 8700K 100 bucks more expensive.
I would get the X99 board myself, an 8700K will likely be the best cpu a Z370 board will support but an X99 board will support dirt cheap (and amazing) xeons, 6950X and all the other higher end X99 chips that are already going super cheap.

On top of that, when the X99 style lga 2011 V3 xeons get dumped by mega corporations as part of the refresh cycle the demand for x99 boards will skyrocket (similar to what X58 did) meaning you could easily sell it for more than what you bought it for when you want to upgrade down the line.

i'd say buy some random cheapo fan to test with, that way its no big loss if you kill it, and once you have found the propper way of doing it, you can "upgrade" towards a higher quality product without fear of breaking it.

I don't know about those cases. But I'll say that it really depends on the parts that you have. For example; If you have a GTX 1050, you probably don't need a $100 case with amazing airflow because the card produces so little heat.
