  1. I think with the speed pc parts progress you need to keep your motherboard and processor up to date. I suggest this because (at least processors) are made obsolete at a much lower rate than other pc parts and it can be easier to keep up by investing in a good processor. If you have the initiative to learn to overclock then this is the best way to increase your power without cost but i found that you need to know what models are built for such changes e.g: z77 motherboards and K series processors (intel i5 2500k). As has been said, depends what you want from your pc and if it still fits the bill, most upgrades can be seen as luxury rather than essentail when you get to ram, cases and power supplies, but you could view it as spending alot now so you dont have to spend later or spending in small amounts to ease the load on your wallet I will always advocate getting a processor and motherboard that you can overclock cos you can more than double your power for freee thats what youtube is there for, you really understand how to save money and what to buy when you take the time to understand the basics of your pc (as i understand thats partly what your post is about) but using youtube, to me, seems like a more worthwhile en devour rather than taking a class. But its what will help you, maybe do both!
  2. thanks, so would having a monitor with a higher refresh rate make any difference to these games or is it an inevitability because of the game? working on the assumption that putting out alot of power would mean my video card is sending them too quickly?
  3. I'm not overlysure what tearing means, and im having trouble finding anything useful online, but it seems to me that it is either because of how the game is optimised withou vsync or is to do with what settings i have on because of the power of my pc but i am playing games as different aas assassins creed 4 and rising storm on full wack with over 60fps and still getting tearing? Could people please expand on this cos im a bit stumped? i am running a gtx 670 i have oc to the max and is stable and my cpu is intel i5 2500K at 4.1GHz also stable
  4. ROME II, my god that was a knife to the heart after waiting in excitement like a little girl for 2 years!
  5. I find i go through patches aswell but it doesn't help when since 2013 this culture of release and patch later has come up so... although games never really live up to the hype and you expect it, it drags down your enjoyment when its waaaaaay worse, ROME II for a massive example :'( (still not playable). Honestly i think it also depends on what type of gamer you are. It isn't about whether your for example, RTS or FPS. Its whether you want to buy a game to play its story or camp compared to an interest in multiplayer. Youll find people who enjoy BF4 and COD at least find more replay-ability and more games to fall back on when bored compared to those who spend more time on games like the last of us and assassins creed 4, great for the single play through but very little/ not much replay factor. I for example play total wars, civ 5, wargame and i can happily bounce between these depending on what style i want to play. Despite the fact that this doesn't hold true in the wide spectrum of gaming and what people like if you find you fit into a certain category of gaming, then it will effect your desire to play alot more than people who play across a wider spectrum, or play games that are built around a more sandbox style of gaming. I would say a good way to look at it is how AAA titles are loosing some of their flare when companies like Ubisoft and EA continue to dissapoint. Console gaming has seen this with games like RYS and watchdogs where the price makes choices limited. Anyway thats how i see it because i never find myself without something to play. because of the replay-ability of my games.
  6. I have had a mosey through the forums but i cant find my answer so....... CPU-INTEL i5 2500K 3.3GHz MOTHERBOARD- ASUS P8Z77 I am just beginning to overclock my cpu and i have started with 3.3 to 3.6. I am pretty condifdent in that i know how to do this but my overlock is not registered in my control panel system settings but i can see it when using cpuz Is this common or have i missed something along the way?
