  1. Budget (including currency): £300-400 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photo editing with Adobe Lightroom - General Excel/Word - Gaming recent titles Other details - Currently ASUS Prime X570-Pro Motherboard -AMD Ryzen 7 1700X CPU - 16GB (x2 8GB) Corsair DDR4 Ram - AMD RX580 8GB GPU Hi, I am looking to upgrade my PC because I'm noticing certain titles, God of War, for example on High settings I'm getting an AVG FPS of 50 and it is noticeable. I built my system in 2017-18 sort of time, so after catching up with all the new generations of products, it got confusing quickly. My main question is - should I upgrade to AM5 now? then upgrade GPU - this will of course need new CPU and ram and GPU Or should I stick with the same CPU/Ram and upgrade GPU only. I notice the new GPUs have PCIe gen 4 now and I'm getting hung up on the limiting bandwidth if i stick that on a PCIe 3 gen slot (my current board) - would that make a huge difference for FPS performance? I am also aware the CPU being slightly older and so the new high VRAM GPUs and new chips may out-perform the CPU and bottleneck? again not sure if this will be a real world issue for me. I'm wanting to be able to play most new titles with at least High settings, (Elden Ring, Harry Potter, God of War 2, Formula 1 etc) and I may upgrade to a 1440p monitor with a higher refresh rate in the next year or two as well. Any advice would be appreciated, as currently I'm looking at upgrading the whole system and jumping to AM5 - I may change my opinion with some advice though, thanks!
  2. I'm torn between buying the Fractal Design Venturi Fans or just add extra fans to the Fractal Arc Midi R2 case (Fractal Design Silent Series R3) OR Is there much difference in air flow and noise, i do know that the Venturi fans have a superior design but for around £16 each it will cost £77 to replace all the fans in my case. (1 back, 2 top, 2 front) Whereas for the Silent Series R3 fans it will only cost £8 to add the extra 2 fans. (1 top, 1 front) is it worth the extra money?
  3. I want to use the Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU cooler in my build, but with the ridiculous installation process. Is it worth it?
  4. I made some adjustments, hopefully it's all good now I changed the cooler, SSD, RAM and PSU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock pro 3 SSD: Samsung EVO 850 Series 250GB RAM: Hyperx fury black edition 16GB (2x 4GB) 1600MHz PSU: Seasonic S12G-650 650W 80+ Gold
  5. thanks straight to the point (being objective)
  6. i'll switch the SSD, but i'll keep the i7 and HDD but another cooler, thanks for the help
  7. right that was the other thing, what about the Seasonic S12G-650 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasonic-S12G-650-650W-Certified-Silent/dp/B00FW6EIIW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434850116&sr=8-1&keywords=SeaSonic+S12G+650W
  8. People who build their first computer but then pay extra for a company to actually build and ship it, i always would want to build my own pc. I exactly know how it was built, where everything was put and built to my high standards for most things

  10. i did't know that, i'll have to watch that for future references
  11. I would add a CPU cooler, the stock one should be fine for normal usage, but if it's for gaming then get an aftermarket a Cooler Master hyper EVO 412s should do. or a be quiet cooler, they look amazing
  12. i agree people always think they need way more power then what they really need
  13. I did some research and found a data table showing results on testing Performance Benchmark performance using all cores Core i7 2630QM 7.8 Core i5 4200M 7.1 Passmark, GeekBench (32-bit) and GeekBench (64-bit) Single-Core Performance Individual core benchmark performance Core i7 2630QM 7.9 Core i5 4200M 8.7 Passmark (Single Core) Power Consumption How much power does the processor require? Core i7 2630QM 5.2 Core i5 4200M 5.3 TDP Features How does CPUBoss rank the features of each product? Core i7 2630QM 6.6 Core i5 4200M 5.6 Features and specifications that differ between products CPUBoss Score Performance, Single-core Performance, Power Consumption and Features Core i7 2630QM 7.2 Core i5 4200M 7.1 I found this on CPU Boss and it shows that in all of them the i7 wins (except individual core benchmark and temperature) but not by much, plus the final score was, i7 = 7.2 i5 = 7.1 So from the data virtually no difference in the overall score but i havn't either of these processors, so i can only go on with the data. Hope this helped
