They are as different as Mac and Windows honestly

I'd say note 3 because I have the Note 2
Forgetting about specs, because phones are fast enough to go on the web, play games, have a nice camera and what not. Except for the spec of 4k video on Note 3, so that means less aliasing and more detail when watching it on a 1080p monitor.

But disregarding specs you have a much much larger screen, an S-pen that you will use occasionally (I use it a lot for swype when texting works better with a stylus IMO), and larger battery. Now if that battery makes a difference is questionable because of the ecosystem Apple has.
You will get more memory from the SD card expansion (wait till Christmas and get a 64gb micro sd card for ~$35).

With the Iphone you get the same features you have now but you get a larger screen (3.5 to 4" which is nice), larger battery, more performance and a finger print scanner.

Where they get you is apps If you spent money on apps it is more likely you will stick with IOS or Android because of that reason you don't want to have re-buy the apps you need.
If you like the Iphone get the 5s it's honestly a very nice phone with some nice features.
But if you aren't afraid of voiding your warranty*, root, and rom you can get some amazing features on android. For my Note 2 I am using something called PAC-rom. It includes 3 different roms all bundled together and is amazing. Because of the large screen I am able to change apps to be in there tablet format even though it's a smart phone so it just works better.

*you can unroot and put back to normal and no one will know so your warranty isn't really void.

So lastly I'd say Note 3 because I feel if you spend the time to learn it and root it with a rom you will enjoy it more than you could with an Iphone.

I have owned a blackberry, IOS, Android, and Windows phone so I am not biased and have experience with all.

Why would you change ? I wouldn't bother personally, You would have to find someone willing to pay close to retail for used equipment if you wanted to make some money back off it... and still why bother ? You bought that card because I assume you wanted to be future proof ? I would personally keep it...
