If you have a 2nd device available that has a gigabit ethernet port, you can try seeing if that device has the same issue.  If the issue is still present, it is most likely an issue with the network.  If the issue goes away, it is most likely an issue related to the device itself.  Just a way of isolating variables.

It probably would have been a good idea for them to contract out the work.

Ive used so much enterprise hardware that I sometimes struggle to figure out how to use some consumer network devices.  If only I do a sh ru on consumer hardware.

Yes, a lot of routers still have 100meg ports. Also a lot of low/mid tier routers can only route 2-300mbps regardless of gig ports.

I do take it seriously because viewers should also know the facts and I dont want Linus to spend time and money for nothing. This swap to 10gig for them could result in hours or days of downtime which is terrible for LTT.

Good luck with your CCNA, its a bitch because of Cisco and their way they do the exam but be prepared for the amount of information thrown at you. Take it step by step. Once you get it you will realize how little you actually knew before and when people begin pointing things out in comments or videos it will drive you nuts.

Check out r/homelabs or r/networking for pfsense configs. There really are not any guidelines for pfsense and its recommended hardware.

For routing ONLY with a single default route you can handle a gig off a single i3 with like 16gb of ram. This is mainly what people use for home networks with only have one route to go (your ISP)

Take that same hardware and say you want to add a few ACLs for security or some routing protocols, you might go from 1gig to 50mbps instantly. Layer 3 is very CPU intensive and this is why dedicated hardware with ASIC chips are necessary.

If you make a laptop, it should be functional, reliable and tested to ensure that it works.

You don't excuse the fact that it runs unsuitably hot by saying it is because it has an i9, Apple knew what they were getting themselves into when they decided to release it, and should have made the correct and suitable cooling solution to cope with it. There is no excuse.

You were asking for suggestions on what to do with your hardware.  I was providing a suggestion.
Lots of companies use virtualization.  If you are going through the effort to get three certs, you might as well get familiar with virtualization (the real stuff).  Monolithic architectures are a thing of the past.

It seems like you just want to point a finger at one box and say "WSUS server", then point at another box and say "Domain Controller", "SQL Server", but I would highly discourage doing that.  Its wastes resources, and does not represent a modern real world situation.

I would encourage you to try making a cluster with your servers and experiment with hypervisors while also getting familiar with the software that you are using.

While I praise your effort to get three certs, I would also like to make the point that most employers are looking for previous work experience and not just certs.

Its fine.  I get most of my networking hardware used.  You should be fine if you just perform a factory reset on the device.  It will clear all the existing configurations and set it to factory defaults.

I was adding more sticks of memory to a hp server while in an university datacenter.  I popped in all the sticks of ram into the server.  When I powered on the server, it would post and showed that both cpus have failed.  It took arranging the sticks of memory into certain slots, in a special order, to get the machine to power on.  Was not a fun time.  10/10 would never want to do again.  I guess I am grateful that there is iLO and iDRAC that make remote management tolerable so I will never need to physically go to a datacenter.

Hello, this is my first posting on this forum so I hope that someone will find this "How To" useful.

In this guide, I will demonstrate how to remove the plastic video card cover on a EVGA 760 so that it is possible to remove a build up of dust.
This particular card that I am using is the 4GB model, but I think that the 4GB and the 2GB board designs are the same.

Tools That are needed:  Phillips screwdriver.

Step 1.  Remove the highlighted screws displayed in this photo.  Notice that the one screw that I highlighted is a different length.
Try to keep all of the screws sorted to remove any possible headaches.

Background Information:  Macbooks are one of the many types of popular notebooks.  People spend lots of money for Apple hardware, and in this guide/tutorial I will show you the steps of setting up fancontrol on a Macbook Pro.  By setting up the fanspeed to something reasonable, it will greatly increase the notebook's lifecycle.  In this guide/tutorial, the Macbook I am using is the Macbook Pro 13"(9,2).  The steps that I am demonstrating should apply to most of the Intel based Apple portable notebooks.  The software that I am using is free, and it is called smcFanControl.

    Requirements:
An Apple branded notebook.(Hackintoshes, you are on your own) Internet connection Administrative permission Computer running 1.4.x or higher. Step 1: Aquiring the software
Go to http://www.eidac.de/ and download the most upto date version of smcFanControl.

If you CPU idles at 75C (which I find hard to believe), then there might be somehting wrong with it. You are worried about warranty, so I assume you still have it. Might give Apple Care a call.

Replace your thermal paste too, people. It'll make a difference. It's very poorly applied on Macbooks.
