  1. My thoughts exactly. Pretty much every android flagship manufacturer has been caught in the past. Also, somehow OnePlus magically gets more performance out of the same processor/architecture compared to other manufacturers. No way José There's a difference between a crap phone and a phone where they crank up the clock on their CPU slightly for benchmarks.
  2. Hi LTT community, I recently bought the Yi 4k+ action cam, which is a GoPro but done by XiaoMi. Unlike the GoPro hero 5 however, my cam can also record 4k at 60FPS (yay). After some initial research it's more than clear for me that a simple class 10 card won't have the right speed for 4K and that I need at least a U3 or V30 classification. What I'm not sure about is if a U3 classification is also enough for 4K at 60 fps. Do you guys have advice for me, and maybe even some recommendations for micro SD cards? Thanks in advance
  3. Rumours may have been going on a few months, but this is the first announcement directly from Intel on their high end platform. I'm more curious about what Intel is thinking with these CPU's. Gamers don't need them so they are basically only for people who need high IPC/multi-treaded performance (F.E. Video editing). I think it's time for an upgrade @LinusTech
  4. Stop using those shitty colors Noctua and then I can consider purchasing your products.
  5. next month the OnePlus 5 is coming. SD 835, 4000mAh, (at least) 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB expandable storage. OnePlus uses Oxygen OS, which is a near stock version of Android. Also, OnePlus devices are known to have good support on XDA developers. 450 USD for the base model rumoured. It's probably one of the best price/performance devices of this year.
  6. I set YouTube to dark mode. First time my colleague walks by he asks me why I'm looking at a porn site
  7. The thing is that smartphones are deliberately manufactured to last two years. One of the key factors in this is battery degradation as well as OS updates with poor optimization towards old hardware. It's not only smartphones, fridges, lightbulbs and even stockings are designed to fail over time. Also...... Hyde is right!
  8. I didn't see any post of this here in the LTT forum nor could I find anything by search so I'm posting this. Last year LMG posted a video of the 2nd gen camera of Xiaomi. The YI 4K was basically at that point beating the hero 4 black left and right. LTT review: Main points for this camera were: Half the price of a GoPro Same mounting system as GoPro Longer batterylife Capacitive touchscreen After Linus' review though, GoPro unleashed their hero 5 black on the market, which basically in terms of specs is very similar to the YI 4K camera linus reviewed but with two features that set it above last year's competitor. Waterproof without a case up to 10 meters Voice control Two weeks ago however, YI technology (Xiaomi's camera department) put the YI 4K+ on the market. It's the first action cam with 4K 60fps and 4K 30fps with EIS (electronic image stabilization). Also the price is 299USD Here's a comparison that was made between the cameras: So in short it has 4k 60fps, a larger battery, longer filming time and it costs less. What about image quality you might ask, here's a comparison I found: According to the creator of the video: Time for a 2017 action cam comparison? @LinusTech?
  9. It's easy to forget sometimes that we as consumers can freely enjoy the content of LMG, a company dedicated to providing us the audience with the best videos possible. LMG like any corporation needs to grow to stay relevant and growing means attracting new viewers with innovative videos, interesting titles and crazy thumbnails. Don't get me wrong, personally I hate clickbaity titles or crazy thumbnails but I get why LMG is using them. As a company that needs to grow and make a profit I understand why they do this. These methods clearly work on YouTube, the platform were LMG pretty much depends on. We shouldn't blame LMG for doing what a company has to do, but we should blame YouTube for forcing it's content creators to do this. I don't see YouTube or Google change their behavior in the near future however. LMG has to compete with other channels like MKBHD, JayzTwoCents, Paul's Hardware etc*. for your views and therefore they to have to act upon trends in the market (or in this case YouTube). If crazy thumbnails work they pretty much have to use them for the sake of competition. * I'm not saying LMG (or I) hates MKBHD, Jayz or Paul. They are competitors but they like each other a lot. They have frequently collaborated. As Linus is saying, his passion hasn't changed and I believe him completely. He still loves tech and teaching/telling us all about it. That's also why he started his own business to provide us with the best content possible. This is still the core value of the company, to provide viewers with the best tech related content possible. With the start and growth of this company, his marriage and the birth of this children, his approach to making the videos has changed. This is only logical as he's now a providing father and business owner instead of the NCIX techhead he was 8 years ago. People change, platforms change, companies change LMG as a company has to change to compete with other YouTubers and to keep providing us with the best content possible. Even if we don't like a business decision from LMG like shitty thumbnails, put yourself in their perspective and try to understand why they're doing this. Instead of letting emotions do the talking try to understand and then talk.
  10. I can't say I blame MS for this decision. Don't get me wrong but they have a clear vision with Win 10. They want only 1 version of Windows instead of having to provide support to Windows XP/vista/7/8/8.1, a situation that is expensive for them. Don't get me wrong, but I'm more concerned with smartphone manufacturers who sometimes don't even provide (security) updates for phones that are older than 1.5 years. Granted, a computer in general stays longer with you than a smartphone and this is a bit scummy by Microsoft, but I do understand them. You're not expecting Apple to provide support a two version old iOS build on their newest iPhone.
  11. A lot of hype but we literally know NOTHING! What we do know is: It will not be in the existing KOTOR realm as that isn't canon, unless BioWare and (*vomits in his mouth) EA can convince Disney otherwise. BioWare's storytelling has deminished a lot in recent years. Yes Mass Effect Andromeda was done by BioWare Montreal but Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3 don't have a tremendous story. Most characters of Dragon Age: Inquisition were forgettable (except Iron Bull of course) and don't get me started on the Mass Effect 3 ending. Probably BioWare will attempt to create a large world that will contain a lot of "Filler" quests. Standard cookie cutter "run and fetch" quests that will get boring with repetition. Both DA:I and ME:A have this problem. You can't make a witcher game like CD Project Red can BioWare! What I hope is that EA won't push the development of this game and that instead of focussing on some kind of new combat system or whatever, they absolutely make sure that the story is amazing this time.
  12. Cracking games will always be a cat and mouse game. A new software or security measure will be taken, however it is only a matter of time until it gets cracked. Good luck finding something new game developers. It's only a matter of time until you find something new and then that will be cracked. Developers need to realize that instead of asking top dollar for every game, pushing pre-orders and selling half of the game in dlc, they should just focus on delivering a good quality product instead of trying to rip their customers off! The reason why games such as The Witcher 3, GTA V, Skyrim and Fallout sell so well even though they get cracked, is because the developers know that they have to deliver a high quality product. Customers expect top quality for the games they buy and games like Mass Effect Andromeda just don't deliver that top level. Bioware should be ashamed of themselves that they delivered a AAA title like ME:A in such a poor condition, with bugs, poor facial animation and apparently a story that isn't on the same level as in other bioware games. Maybe the game industry should look into different revenue models. I'd gladly pay for something like a Steam equivalent of Twitch Turbo/Spotify/Netflix. But then I want all AAA games on 1 platform so EA can suck it with their Origin poop.
  13. Samsung apparently is working on some ultrawide panels according to TFT central, who claim to have gotten their hands on the Samsung Roadmap. Samsung is attempting to go big on curved ultrawide panels, attempting to eliminate multi monitor setups and go into "Surround" screens. IMO I'm not entirely sold on the aspects ratios in terms of software support, however the idea of one big surround monitor sounds really awesome. 14. What may be nice to add to this article is the fact that Blizzard is making the original SC game totally free! Also, for the first time in ages, Blizzard will bring out a patch for the original game, patch 1.18a. The patch basically brings back a workable ladder and matchmaking system and support for Windows 7/8/8.1/10 will be added. other than that not much has changed from the original game except that (finally) custom hotkeys are added. source: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/520460-starcraft-v118a-patch-notes-preparation-for-scr Starcraft Remasterd is basically a skin put over the original game. Both remastered and the original broodwar are compatible with eachother.
