Sorry for the noob question... It would seem one of the main assertions of the OP is that the games library was changed for AC Unity, so how do we know this was actually the case? Is this documented somewhere? I find the whole topic intriguing and am trying to understand things better.
-
Ah, then I stand corrected. I did watch a little bit of the video where the statement was made and I had assumed it was someone from the AC dev team commenting while another was playing for the benefit of the IGN interview. Been watching a lot of BioWare showcases like this for DAI which led to that assumption, so my mistake on that. Still, I definitely agree that whoever at IGN made that comment is not absolved from the absurdity of the statement.

That statement of Watch Dogs being held back by the PC is one of the most absurd things I've heard come out of dev's mouth. Even more so than the nonsense about "30fps being more cinematic" and what not since generally, the context was usually in relation to a console experience. But this? Complete and utter lunacy.

Patrick Weekes has been working on Dragon Age: Inquisition since the end of development on ME3. Not sure if he will rejoin the Mass Effect writing team yet as there will inevitably be single player DLC for Inquisition and he may take part in its development.

Then it would seem to be the difference between Z87 and Z97. Going back to your original question - if there are no source options available in Fan Xpert 2, then it would have use CPU temp to adjust fan speed in Smart Mode.

From a quick search on the ASUS support page, I can see a download for AI Suite 3 (which is what I'm using) for your motherboard under Utilities. Although, the version for the VI Impact is 1.00.56 and the VII Hero version is 1.00.79.

There should be a drop down table labeled "Source" in the section where you would set the fan profile individually. Mine was default to CPU.

I used this guide to set up SSD cache on my HDD: http://www.overclock.net/t/1227655/how-to-set-up-intel-smart-response-technology-ssd-caching

Perhaps give Memtest86 a try since the error you mentioned was regarding "Memory Management". Run a few passes of Memtest and see if there are any errors.

I have built two rigs with nearly all the components purchased from NCIX and have not had any issues. I had to exchange some cables once and even though I did it at a location that was not the original place of purchase, had no trouble.

The cooling performance and noise level from the Zotac cards seem quite impressive. Not to mention the beefed up power delivery. I am a sucker for lights so the Extreme appears to be built to suite me .

I just recently got into BF4 too and have enjoyed it immensely. I tend to avoid most multiplayer type games but when I gave BF4 mp a try, it just became so addicting. The game has run extremely well for me with no issues. I guess it worked out with getting the game so late.

I wanted to know this as well and emailed EVGA support. They confirmed that the EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 (part # 04G-P4-2981-KR) does use a reference PCB.

The thing about non-reference cards that are factory OC'd is that you least know the card you're getting will reach a minimum overclock. For some people that's worth the extra $100 (along with the typically better cooling performance) and any overclock further than what the factory has done is just gravy.
