    Today's goal - figure out why the Voodoo2 runs…

apparently we live on opposite sides of the world... its 8pm for me
  3. Yup I think PCPartPicker made a mistake. The motherboard has: The case has: 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (e.g. USB-C) cable 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 cable You shouldn't need an adapter...
  4. Yeah I saw that in the compatibility notes, but am having trouble finding the right adapter I need to order.
  5. UPDATE Sill no fix even when trying to reinstall windows onto a different SSD. I was able to boot into safemode once check devices updated the graphic driver then restarted but still no luck and I can't boot into safe mode again. Maybe its an issue with the bios after updating it to the latest version but the crashes were happening before that as well. Maybe I could try flashing the bios back to a super old version. All the individual hardware components seem to be working from my testing, hardware wise the only think it could be is the motherboard or cpu and to test the CPU I would need to buy a new motherboard, which I really don't want to do just to test my PC. Anyone have any ideas?
  6. I use ShutUp10, which works on 11 as well. I don't like to leave things running, but you can. I just open it every so often, and import my config (it will also warn you if your settings have been changed, if you open it). I normally only check it after major updates.
  7. As the title says, I've used Free for years and only recently upgraded to Truenas Scale, what am I missing here? (Yes it's a small cache, it's a spare intel optane ssd I had laying around)
  8. AKG K371, AKG K361, Shure 440A, Shure 840A and Rode NTH-100 are the closed backs that are actually worth buying. Of the bunch the K371 are imo the best sounding, Shure 840A are a very solid buy and Shure's customer service is outstanding for getting new earpads (AKG are really annoying to get replacement pads from) if you can see yourself doing some console gaming/ need to use a work laptop and need a headset the Rode's are amazing (they sell a NTH-100M that is just the regular NTH-100 with a detachable mic and mic capable cables) Shure 440A and K361 are cheaper than the 840A and K371 respectively, at your budget you can easily get a USB mic with leftover money and not need to worry about microphones again, I highly recommend the Samson Meteor, that little thing is nigh indestructible and the manual is invaluable for learning how to use a microphone if you ever wanted to try voice acting or singing vocals. Yeah the HD560S are pretty high sensitivity, a lot of people talk about ohms in headphones being important, sensitivity is the number you need to look at, 100db and above is completely fine to run without an external amp, 95db-99db is where you might want to use an amplifier but they aren't strictly needed, 94db and below absolutely needs an amplifier. (For reference the 560S are 110db sensitivity, that is completely fine off just about anything)
  9. Going to watch the Simpsons to get an insight into the future

  10. Thank you for the effort put into this reply, those last two may have some extra nuggets of info. As I have volume licensing, and decent hardware. Some of these are not an issue. i.e. TPM and Microsoft Login. I have been aware of making custom Windows boot images for some time. My issue with those, however, is that Windows Updates can roll back some of the work done. Hence, why I made this post asking if there is a persistent tool that I can set and forget. Whenever Windows pulls a dirty, it is there to rid the STDs. I get roughly a 25% internet speed improvement on Linux. There is definitely in itch in the Windows OS
  11. Didn’t do much of a research other than clicking your pcpp link, so I might be wrong. I can see that your case uses USB3.2 Gen1 TypeC and a regular USB A . That would mean you need two of the said Gen1 header and your motherboard only has one. You might want to pick USB3.2 Gen1 to Gen2 header adapters if you want to have both USB A and USB C ports. It should be like a $5 adapter.
  12. 6800 is about 20% faster at 1440p than the 6700 xt. I wouldn't pay $209 for that.
  13. Nobody can answer that. It is an impossible question. It could last 20 years, it could die in 5 minutes.
  14. Bought my RTX 3080 graphics card Dec of '21. Got tired of waiting years for things to return to normal and decided I was tired of gaming on my mobile GTX 1060 laptop. I got one on Newegg for $1800. If that wasn't bad enough, that order was canceled and I then got one for the next cheapest which was $1950. Perfect timing. I can honestly say there was no game I couldn't have waited two months to play...
  15. Essentially, yes. A higher-end Gen3 or Gen4 SSD with more storage over a Gen5 SSD with lower capacity. Also, Gen5 SSDs can run HOT when you push it. Gen3 and Gen4 typically runs cooler. Checking local pricing for me... A Gen5 Crucial T700 2TB is $529, the 4TB model is $899.99... Gen4 WD SN850X 2TB is $234.99 and 4TB is $434.99 Gen4 (tier below the SN850X) WD SN770 2TB is $189.99...

  18. well thanks, that makes it better on me i can get more storage for the same price so I see it as a win

  22. That's good to know that you are using Windows 11, and that you reinstalled the operating system completely already. However, did you let all the updates complete? Sometimes there are Optional updates that need to be installed as well. BIOS Update could be a crucial fix to your issues, especially when tackling memory stability. You're welcome, we're here to help at LTT forums! Great choice on the SSD, I would see if there were any Firmware updates available for it. Please make sure you have all your data backed up before installing Firmware or BIOS updates. Lastly, it's essential to make sure you don't lose power during these updates (Windows Updates included).
  23. Yes, that is exactly what all of us are saying.
  24. So what you are saying is that there is no reason to pay a premium for something you cant even take advantage of, so you would be better off buying cheaper gen 3's to get more storage at an affordable price.
