  4. Just a question, how do you plan to solder them? a soldiering iron doesn't work here. just in theory... why wouldn't a heatgun work though? or even the good old oven trick?
  5. Hi guys, pretty much says everything in the title. A couple of years ago I had Pi-Hole running perfectly on a small home server and was pretty happy with the results. Recently though, I decided to get it up and running on my Unraid server and its appears to be useless. From what I can tell from the Pi-Hole dashboard, the correct clients are connected and the dash is reporting various blocks happening but I'm not seeing any tangible results on the client side. Any ideas?
  6. https://www.beatxp.com/smartwatches/beatxp-unbound-neo-super-amoled-display-smartwatch/ This is the watch. It has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a mid-range watch. I could try Amazon, but it doesn't show on my orders. If I go to the product page, it shows that i purchased it, but nowhere on the orders page. I'm in India, if that helps.

who tf managed to make a usb stick that overheats

    oh thats right, literally everyone

because a 2 cent heatsink is too much money to spend on the usb stick

this is a nice one too, bullshit

  8. So ever since I got a new desktop replacement for my old laptop I have been running into issues with the mic input jacks both on the motherboard and front panel. When I plug in my headphones Windows detects them but with barely any input, I cranked up the volume of the mic to 100% in Windows settings and have to talk really loudly for it to pick up my voice. When I recorded myself testing it at full volume all I hear was this really annoying buzzing/static sound and a very like far away from the mic type of voice. The output jack (Headphone jack) works just fine. I thought "Huh maybe my headphone connector has a loose or broken wire in the plug" yeah that's not the problem cause I used my phones audio jack and it just works. Idk if my drivers are bad but when I tried installing a new version of the same drivers (some Realtek High Definition Audio driver) it failed to install. I have no idea if i have to install some kind of AMD driver (laptop was an Intel platform) on the desktop, but I truly don't know what kind of sorcery was used in this build but its annoying. P.s. posting my specs (might help): Ryzen 5 5600x; Gigabyte A520M K V2 (rev. 1.0); Gigabyte RTX 4060 WINDFORCE OC 8G
  9. Lots of slow, power hungry cores. If your focus is solely ML then you'd be better with a newer, single CPU with enough memory channels and that isn't as power hungry. Not a problem if you got it for cheap tho. That seems on the low end given that you'll have 96gb of vram. I'd try to at least double it. That's going to be slow due to the lack of tensor cores, and also no proper FP16 speedups. A 3060 would be able to run models as bigs as this GPU (with mixed precision), while being way faster. But again, if you got it for cheap that's not a problem. Any linux distro of your liking. Maybe just go ubuntu since there are tons of tutorials on how to setup cuda with it. If you're using linux, there's no distinction between the drivers, just install the nvidia proprietary one and off you go. No. Your ML frameworks will do this job. For inference NVLink won't bring much of a benefit, but you can notice a minor speedup if you plan to do training/fine-tuning. Yes, but not that major, having twice the vram and GPUs will offset this (as long as you work with large enough models). Depends on the model size and if you're using quantization or not. You can even run the 70b model with 4-bit quant. I mostly use the 30~35b models for fine-tuning with 2x3090s without problems.
  10. Why not get a smaller monitor for under your main? Or keep REAL sticky notes? Or a task list? Pad of paper on your desk? Or Have your phone sitting under the monitor? Etc etc etc. https://www.amazon.com/HMTECH-Raspberry-Pi-Monitor-Non-Touch/dp/B09MFNLRQQ/ref=sr_1_5?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.S8vgQNp2gbc2OSmaQ_C5cl57LBy8SD2s0445pN279I7u5FXkf0Mm6BGFWF_uWB6hM9veFaBx_r7iIVXdCx2xVtTnXZijrecGn-ZdNaQX7104Joudr4seDyEvDfoWn8A1NsnKqSNrPxhTI2nmjskD4X1zDD3nBU6sWz0i7C6zoT7_jVh-KjOsxYMxPjsaDXHf6v3ZYK0X9xOVfrix3zT289mpMAQHLZUivyawNG4PUrs.9ltas0KRiRnmeKn2rzGk7rHT1KgovCx64yQktvsxelQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=mini%2Bmonitor&qid=1711721196&sr=8-5&th=1
  11. It is a desktop The display port is plugged into the gpu I will try re seating it into another display port to see if that works
  12. OK, as of right now just doing the new PSU I haven’t had any issues
  13. Try running "sudo ecrypts-add-passphrase --fnek" before running ecryptfs-recover-private. This post shows workaround for your error (bottom of page) http://davidsulc.com/blog/2019/04/27/recovering-an-encrypted-home-partition-on-ubuntu/
  14. Never heard of an app to do that, but maybe you can use this trick: Make a folder somewhere, name the folder to whatever you want to be reminded of Right click on task bar, choose toolbar, then new toolbar Select the folder you created. To turn it off, just choose Toolbar again and deselect the folder you've chosen before. Edit : Guess the limit is 39 characters (space included)
  15. should I make it 1333? if so then how? will there be any problem if I change it to 1333?
  16. Yes, an external hard drive would struggle in copying such huge amount of files, especially when executing a FULL backup and/or based on SMR recording. I would rather consider using the USB Copy app to back up off-line, because 1) this app supports INCREMENTAL backup and thus would not require copying the exact same files again, and 2) all files can be accessed on other PCs immediately when failures occur on the NAS. With an external SSD, data would be backed up times as fast as hard drives. However, be cautious that data recovery is virtually infeasible with SSDs, and data degradation or loss may occur with SSDs after prolonged off-site storage. If you have adequate, safe copies of data, just take one.
  17. Is this a laptop? If not, running off your GPU requires plugging your display cable into your GPU, could you check your output is plugged into your GPU?
  18. So youre running at 1067MHz or 2133MT/s whereas you can run at 1333MHz to be at your 2666. If you change the XMP profile over to the 2666 one in BIOs it should start running at that speed. Timings are a little on the slow side but not too bad, everything else seems to be in order
  19. Apple doesn't allow them so you have to use a janky workaround. https://altstore.io/ is one example (never used it myself I don't have an iPhone). You can also find websites where you can just play them online (and I'm not talking about piracy, there are browser-based emulators that you still have to load your own ROMs).
  20. For the record, prices tend to drop over time. Unless you are sniping a huge deal you're just wasting money.
  21. How do you feel about 32:9 aspect ratio? My spouse LOVES the AGON 49" DQHD monitor.
  22. From what I can tell its running off my 3070 because I see no option to swap to the integrated graphics anywhere

This is quite brutal and tragic lesson...

I remember seeing this one. Brutal indeed.
  24. 0.0 I've been running 5950X and 2x16GB@4000 sticks of Vengeance since launch. I'd really like to hear your thoughts...
  25. I have ADHD and my mind tends to scatter all over the place. I realized having a visible text displaying my current task would help me remember and fcous on what I'm doing, especially when doing complex, multi-staged tasks. I've tried using Windows built-in sticky notes app, but it just hides parts my screen and bugs me. Do any of you know of a way to put a short line of text in Windows 11 the task bar itself that can be visible without being obstructive?
