  2. Yes but the difference is those are all American owned companies. ByteDance has to do what the Chinese government tells them. So if you have TikTock on your phone, the Chinese government has any information you have on it.
  3. Not sure what's going on with it now but whatever I try and do or change it just isn't keeping any settings. Just defaults back to tpu1 and keeps the cpu at 4ghz. Gonna go ahead and cry now this damn machine
  4. 7900X3D isn't great because of the 6 cores CCDs x3D chips don't need much cooling, you can save on it Board was crap, don't get a A620 board for a high end chip RAM was slow, and not even cheap Drop the 1TB HDD, useless now, and get a bigger faster Gen4 SSD PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2 GHz 16-Core Processor ($599.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($35.90 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ATX AM5 Motherboard ($209.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-5600 CL30 Memory ($187.99 @ Newegg) Storage: SK Hynix Platinum P41 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($141.99 @ Newegg Sellers) Storage: Seagate BarraCuda Pro 4 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive ($0.00) Video Card: Gigabyte WINDFORCE V2 GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card ($1699.99 @ Newegg) Case: Thermaltake Core P3 ATX Mid Tower Case ($74.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: be quiet! 5. your budget is a bit on the "low" side for this, but cases do exist at a reasonable price:

It’s official. I am currently in better shape,…

Yeah, in about 7 weeks, I went from getting pretty winded at the too of a hill, to hills not bothering me much. It took pretty considerable toil to get there though. In those 7 weeks, I’ve been walking hills in my area every day, for 6-7 miles, as well as adding in occasional HIIT sessions. I’ve also recently added miles during work breaks as well, bringing up the miles considerably. Yesterday, I ticked over 11 miles total, on a work day at that. The diet has changed pretty greatly too. I generally target between 1100-1300 calories/day, with emphasis on lower carbs. Some days I’m a bit higher, and sometimes a bit lower, though even on “cheat” days, I’m pretty close to the mark. Pretty drastic improvement from before March though. Tbh, I can likely do much more running than a mile, as I am now, if I can get my mind into gear. I’d also like to procure a weight vest at some point as well, to add further intensity.
  7. Unfortunately you're kinda hooped. The Apple Ethos is to remove as much user control as possible in the name of protecting them. I like to equate it to using a computer with boxing gloves on. I'm not saying your annoyance is your fault or anything, Apple makes solid hardware, I just loathe their software
  8. You chose Apple, so now Apple chooses your setup and what you can do or not with it, it's how things work with them, they're the guards of the walled garden you're in ! For more freedom get Windows, for full freedom get Linux (the one you want, cause you're free)
  9. Well if you think about it Minecraft isn't exactly tough on the graphics card (without mods).... it's very CPU dependent. And this is the problem with bottlenecks: There is ALWAYS a bottleneck, and it changes depending on what you are doing. The best you can do is try to avoid extreme bottlenecks causing unsatisfactory performance. And Minecraft will run just fine on those specs.
  10. Intel, AMD and Nvidia are rumored to be dropping new GPUs around autumn or Q3/Q4 so prices should drop further then, especially with all 3 brands releasing around the same time and the competition that brings
  11. I know, overall build was a gem - rest of the build (incl motherboard and PSU) would have been solid for a 5800X3D and something like a RX7800XT/RTX4070Super over the next couple of years! Mouse is also a gem: about €60 and those G502 last forever (I'm still using my G502 Proteus Core from about 2011!). However... the problem with Oz:
  12. You need more power! (lightning bolt crackles) A 3080 is gonna struggle a bit on 750W. Not so much that you're boned, but def gonna be power limited. 850 should be fine though
  13. Yes, it does, the AF3's mounting mechanism also doubles as a contact frame, tis real handy
  14. Oh thank you! Didn't know there was a local version, that's real good to know. Picking the parts for me was mostly not taking the cheapest option and taking brands I've heard the names of before lol. You picked a less expensive version of the 4060 ti, is it not enough difference between the two not to spend the extra bit of money?
  15. OK. I suppose it it best not being err recovering from the previous night when replying. Anyway I have been playing around with zerotier more. I plan to have my router as the only machine on the home network connected to it (opnsense). Appropriate ports will be forwarded to a virtual machine with reverse proxy manager (nginx) - then on to services I want to access (https) It is possible to add routes to the your home network it seems, from within zerotier. I also expect within tailscale as well. There are claims that no data is collected by zerotier. It is probably the same with tailscale. I DO NOT TRUST THEM. I am using truenas scale at home, with standard windows shares. Your NAS does the same I assume. I intend to access windows shares through a key only secure shell access through the zerotier network (to the Virtual machine), with the appropriate port forwards to the NAS.

    Status Update

I hated broccoli's taste so much when not too many years ago, still it's taste today doesn't really resonate with me, just doesn't taste disgusting anymore.
  17. Honestly decent build, though I'd fix the RAM issue, you can buy significantly lower latency ram than you currently have, either CL30 6000Mhz or what I have on my slightly altered list, you also probably want a better motherboard, while the one you have isn't bad it's nothing great, the Gigabyte A620M Gaming X AX has: 5+2+2 power design The MSI B650-S WIFI has: 12+2+1 power design (which is overkill, but why should you get stuck on weaker MB on already overkill build?) The MSI also has 2 8pin power connectors for CPU instead of one, despite the current AM5 only needing one it's a nice to have and maybe contributes for more fluid power management? (I might be making this last part up) And finally SSD, I included slightly more expensive NVME that should be more worth it's price, the P3 Plus isn't anything slow, but they do tend to fall back in sequential tasks that handle large files, regardless of their rated speed. The TI-59 calculator from '79 takes about as long to plot a graph as a human would to draw one out.
  19. Yeah so I think the Liquid Freezer III comes with one. https://www.arctic.de/en/Liquid-Freezer-III-360/ACFRE00136A#:~:text=Contact Frame for Intel LGA1700 and LGA1851
  20. You're not going to get HDR monitor for cheap. Need that HDR1000 rating at least so it's HDR1000+ rated LCD monitors that are obscenely expensive, imo a waste or OLED monitor.
  21. yeah, I know that. I don’t want them to force me to though. They already make me enter my password every day to tell it to not update, and I don’t want it to be taken to that page every other time I launch the app.
  22. yeah i have 2 years of production warranty. but strangely enough does this not happen when i’m plugged into the 200W charger, so i still have no clue what may have caused it. i’ll hit up the support later. thank you so much for your help.
  23. Do you have any DRAM gen 4 recommendations or should I just go for the NM620 given my budget? I most likely won't tell the difference anyway so I would prefer longevity. Thanks for the advice.
