    New build, when?

Thanks for the opinion mate... I'm saving a few money, and doing some extra work at home to save what I can... but, when I have a few money some s*** appear to screw me up... or some extra stuff for the kid, or some appliance that got broke... or the car...

what to do with my old pc

plus it's near where I live of course would be a good buy to put a cheap 8gb gpu card in the intel rig to sell for a new pc or old user.

ThinkPi - Old Chassis, New Tricks.

Update #3 The display controller extension cable is here ! (LVDS) Here's a size comparison with the 25cm one (new is 40cm) (Fig.1) Also, I have been using this Bluetooth keyboard+trackpad combo since I got news from the maker of the keyboard converter, he doesn't have any to sell me but told me he was working on updating his design. I also fit the power cables inside the laptop (Fig.2) so that I don't have to take it apart to plug anything in. This however is temporary and I have ordered panel-mount extensions so that the cables can be externally plugged in, rather than looking like the laptop is carrying an IV bag around Here's a link to the LVDS extension (This link has been hard to get, believe met though if you order the board, simply tell them that you want the 40cm cable). As well as the panel-mount extensions I have ordered : LVDS Cable Barrel Jack (12v input) USB adapter (I used the B to microB because it's got a better connector imo) USB Left right angle extension cable (since the usb on the pi is so close to the side of the laptop, might only be able to use 2 tho) Here's the laptop turned on with the screen upright and the electronics in their correct position (Fig.3) And with the panels on top (Fig.4) And finally, All screwed down ! (Fig.5) I really love that it's got some sort of "IV bag" to carry for it's life support (the power adaptors ) (Fig.6) And I even brought it to college ! (Fig.7) However, it seems I have messed up something closing it down, since the screen turns on but not the pi (Probably one of the pins is shorting, but really an issue.. I just need some more electrical tape That's it for now ! Hopefully I get the rest of the parts soon so that it's easyer to carry, I will probably just edit this post once it's back in working order (It's only 8 screws, some tape and voila!) Thanks again for taking the time to read
  7. I am using a software called luminon to render but suddenly this happened. https://photos.app.goo.gl/PiduvvBSFQrq79pd9 I tried disabling the GPU (mx150)
  8. between 2 PCs, 5 cards tested, all exhibit the exact same behavior. 3 were from one retailer, 2 were from a completely different retailer. when under load (>90%) the fan rpm keeps dropping and sometimes spike to 3500rpm. even if set to manual fan mode, doesnt matter which speed I set it to, fans will run fine until I give it a load >90% such as playing a game. doesn't happen when doing desktop work, or even running realbench. gaming/graphics benchmarks only. tried latest and past drivers. tried setting custom fan curves, manual fan settings all speeds, doesn't make a difference. the sound is annoying with it constantly revving during gaming. just curious what it could be? it'll run for 5-10 seconds, then starts getting these spikes and drops, and it keeps repeating.

    watching this right now.! https://www.ebay.ca/itm/XFX-Radeon-RX-570-RS-8-GB-GDDR5-memory-XXX-Edition-Video-card-for-gamer-use/223486298924?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1431.l2649
  10. I dropped a pencil lead under the left shift key of my XPS 15 (9550) . Unfortunately I did not realize how delicate the plastic clips were under the key and ended up breaking them trying to remove the lead. Where can I get replacement keycaps/clips? Would a site like this work? I'm unsure what hinge type I will need.

    New build, when?

I will have to wait until Lisa talks a gain on May 27th.
  12. I was about to install the system but when it tried to boot I just get a stop sign icon. However it slowly spits out more text that is unable to be read and after awhile it prints out blank lines for ethernity. I've recorded the boot up which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m16298PmNTI I've done this 5 years ago on a physical system but I broke my computer (seemed to be unrepairable) while doing that. That's why I wanted it to try it this way with GPU passthrough. Also I've tried the -f and -x flag as well but the same output occurred. Since I can't see any error in the output I have no idea where to look for an answer. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do next? I've attached my xml configuration of my hackintosh. I think that's all the relative info I have. hackintosh.xml

    Windows Update

Here are some other steps to follow, specifically the DISM command that may fix some underlying issues. https://support.microsoft.com/eu-es/help/947821/fix-windows-update-errors-by-using-the-dism-or-system-update-readiness

    Need suggestion on picking parts

Also know that the RX GPUs tend to be blast furnaces so air movement is Critical to help keep it cool and not Throttle. So be ready to add a fan or two if need be. But they are cheap for the most part
  20. Hello, my friend received his first PC parts to build a PC today, but he bought a Intel Core i7 9700K and a Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO motherboard. On the box of the motherboard stands *Requires eligible 8th gen Intel core i7 or i5. Is this a problem?

do any headsets work properly on windows 10 at all?

Ever had a turtle beach or kingston headset that have a dongle with a 7.1 button/switch? Those are stereo headsets with shit audio quality that advertise turning stereo magically into 7.1 to hear your enemies around you. That is what I'm calling a marketing lie/gimmick. You can simply buy those creative headphones and a USB mic then use SW to accomplish the same thing those shitty headsets accomplish. It's also not going to boost your KD which is part of the lying advertising.
  24. Today I saw one of the biggest oxymorons I've seen in a long time 😄

    ....................

A SouthEastern Javelin "HighSpeed" train going about 5 miles per hour across a level crossing. 🤣

For context a SouthEastern "Javelin" looks like this:

    Spoiler

    image.thumb.png.54ff756c5bb354e3292ac29a9ab4555c.png

Image isn't mine but the license allows re-use and sharing according to Bing.

    Also extra context:

    Spoiler

3 out of the 4 barriers at the crossing were broken and/or non-functioning so some NetworkRail engineers and a security guard had to stop people from passing by when lights and sounds came on and the train went through.

Usually the train at the crossing probably goes around 30-50 miles per hour.
