  4. So I bought a Dell Optiplex 3060 with a i5 8400. I need to add a GPU and I have 200$ budget, but I also want a ram upgrade. I was thinking of a GTX 1600 or rtx 3060. Maybe one from Radeon. I am new to this and extremly unsure what to buy.
  5. from what i saw yes everything looked fine and again i aint updated drivers recently ,ive been gaming all day ,temps looked normal everything then this happened display signal just stopped im freakin tf out rn
  6. Your 10 year old GPU is dying, do what you can still do with it, but a brand new hi end PC shouldn't crash at all and especially not when launching a game !!
  7. I wish they would get Hyperion vibes as well as Villeneuve did with Dune Part 1. Low chance, yet I hope.
  8. Well, I installed Mint mostly because my stepson knows the French guy behind it Had no idea swapping GPU was more complicated than reinstalling drivers neither, or rather that installing them was such a hassle
  9. Did the rest of the PC keep running? Fans, lights, peripherals, everything but the display signal? Sounds like you might have had a driver crash.
  10. Yeah, memory context restore and power down were always off. I've tried booting with no GPU, no cpu, no ram, and nothing but the mobo and can't get a successful flash done or even a video output. Tried my known good PSU just now for all of those and no dice. I want to get a new board and x3d in but even with a good return policy it's such an effort. I'm just hoping I got sold a b tier cpu and maybe messed up the motherboard through endless bios flashback
  11. After seeing both movies and reading the book, I have to agree, it was a little disappointing. Part 1 is definitely more true to the book than Part 2. Although I do think they both stand on their own in terms of cinematic quality; they are very well-made films, and I can appreciate them for that. However, they do fall behind in terms of adapting the book, and the quality dips in comparison to the book.

    audio problem

Came across something weird. Why can I hear through both speakers without spatial audio while still being able to tell which side the voice is coming from, but when using the spatial audio settings the opposite side is completely muted? My astro mixamp has a way to select dolby or another type of audio output (looks like a star), and it has it's own equalizer. Dolby Atmos only completely mutes one side when the mixamp is set to the star setting, not the dolby setting, and dolby atmos has it's own equalizer. Realtek also has it's own equalizer. I assume audio goes from Realtek>Astro Mixamp>Dolby Atmos, so does all my audio pass through 3 equalizers? Also, if I'm able to tell the direction when both speakers are active (no selected spatial audio in windows), does that mean my audio is being filtered through multiple spatial audio programs as well? What kind of rabbit hole have you thrown me into?
  13. This is the type of PC you give away to someone in need, it's not worth any amount of money and just barely has some usefulness left.
  14. It's possible that the motherboard just needs a BIOS update to be compatible with the CPU, as the 8700G is pretty recently released. Luckily, it looks like your board has a BIOS Flashback feature - that's what the button on the rear IO is for. The port to insert the USB stick into is the one right next to the PS/2 port at the top per the manual: Here's a video from the official Aorus Youtube channel that explains the process:
  15. Please tell me how to update the BIOS. Look, I know how to update the bios but not in this situation
  16. This is an absolutely correct observation. People need to know what distro they are installing when using Linux. I never said otherwise, but if you do your research you can find an optimal distro just for you. If the hardware manufacturers or resellers do this research for the customers the end result is the same. You end up with an optimal system, personalized for your needs, out of the box. Installing a newer kernel on Linux Mint is the same as installing any kind of drivers on Windows. The only difference is the methodology to do it. As I have said countless times, Linux is not Windows, so if you go in with that mindset you will always be disappointed. This was not your fault obviously but as Linux gets more popular, big distros like Mint will find a way to notify the user of what they need to do or simply apply the update automatically. I personally prefer a Fedora base, stable and cutting edge. Best of both worlds. But if you're claiming that other distros shouldn't exist just because Mint has an issue with newer hardware, that's a big no no from me. Each well known distro serves a purpose and that's the essence of the amazing potential of Linux.
  17. Did you update the BIOS of the motherboard? I would guess the firmware is not up to date for this brand new CPU
  18. but let's use an analogy that's more suitable to this topic: let's say a car brand announces that they tie the headlights to the computer by serial number, to avoid car theft. would this outrage you, or would you gladly buy a new car when the brand decides to no longer offer you headlight replacements? because that's what apple is doing. and no, we're not talking about "stolen phones", we're talking about things that severely limit consumer rights, under the premise of "mathematically decreasing the potential value of stolen goods, wether or not that actually affects actual thefts". you're also baselessly assuming "these parts MUST come from stolen phones", when there's no reason to assume this is any significant portion of the market compared to otherwise broken or 'recycled' phones. there's also no reason to assume that before mentioned parts shops in china buy any stolen phones at all, as opposed to buying 'recycled' phones by weight. blocking the motherboard made a huge impact, from what i can find.. but i havent seen any data suggesting that tieing components together by serial number has had any impact.. while it all but destroyed the consumer's ability to repair their own device if they so desire.
  19. Is there an app like parsec for iphone cause when i search for parsec the app its not there
  20. They can all influence you to do that and much worse. @LogicalDrm The irony of your message is hilarious. This is the type of topic that regularly get brought up on WAN show.
  21. You could call bedrock linux the "one size fits all" distro, but at that point you might as well call Gentoo a beginner distro.
  22. So then my 10 year old gpu that cannot view console screen but visual screen does isn't good at all? I mean it runs with all fps i need. It can run over more years.
  23. Yes. 600w is enough even with GPU overclock
  24. cpu: 5600x, possibly overclocked slightly gpu: 2070 super strix which i will also overclock a lot ram: 3600mhz 2x8gb ssd: 1x nvme 500gb, 1x sata 500gb, 1x 5400rpm hdd 5 case fans 2 cpu cooler fans psu is a thermalright gx2 600w the motherboard is some asus prime b550 atx mobo
