  1. Past hour
  2. I looked up the PCB and they all mentioned that I would've had to swap the BIOS IC anyway. Since the board was pretty much useless the way it was, I tried soldering the wires from a sacrificial USB chord I had lying around directly to the PCB. The data pads were completely beyond repair, at least for my skill level, so I had to go for the traces. In fact, you can tell that I had to bypass that one surface mount components (I'm guessing it's a resistor) because I couldn't attach it from the port side and just hoped that it works. I'm terrible at soldering and I probably also don't have a soldering iron suited to working with small stuff like this, but I managed to wrangle the wires in place for the connection to stick and get all the data off of the drive successfully after securing it all with a bit of hot glue.
  3. 13700f real turbo power consumptions might exceed 200W - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/230491/intel-core-i713700f-processor-30m-cache-up-to-5-20-ghz/specifications.html RTX 3070 also might exceed 200W - https://www.igorslab.de/en/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-founders-edition-in-test-ampere-can-also-economic-and-cuddly-small/12/ Other parts consume a bit too. I'd buy a decent PSU before other upgrades. The TDP or 65W or 125W is meant without turbo clocks, which are usually enabled. So yeah.
  4. My guess is they're preparing for RX 8000 later this year. I just didn't post it cuz I didn't think it was that great of a deal considering this was a deal. For that deal you also need newegg+. I know it's free but isn't it a bit weird that a premium membership is free?
  5. @Nayr438 I maybe understand, but that is still a lot of bloat. And either way I still do not care about the source files. I heard there is a way to get only the binary files in yay using some flag idk. As @BoomerDutch, is that possible? But how do I manage stuff? Like I mean how do I redirect the target to the /tmp folder and then where do I take out the binary? The AUR is so great that it is almost needed for regular use but I hate compiling stuff. Also, is yay even the best AUR helper if not good? What does "Search and Download" and "Search and Build" mean at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_helpers ? Yay is only a pacman wrapper.
  6. Backup your irreplaceable data and just send it and see what happens. Thats what I do anyway.
  7. I am upgrading CPU, mobo, GPU, ram. Wondering if I need to do anything with windows, drivers, etc. before breaking down my PC and upgrading it. I will be keeping my storage drives the same. Currently have: R7 2700X B450 MSI Gaming Pro EVGA RTX 2070 Super Upgrading to: R5 7600X B650 MSI Tomahawk ASUS RTX 4070 Super
  8. I know this thread is pretty old, but I'll give my final update in case anyone with the same issue ends up here. The problem was my CPU, Ryzen 5 3600 that's a little under 5 years old. Replacing it solved the problem.
  9. I'm already cringing and putting that video in my cringe folder. Love it!
  10. you can also delete the update from your storage, which, if you have auto downloads off, will prevent it from downloading the update again.
  11. You know – and probably HATE – Shein. They’ve built a reputation for Low Quality Clothes and Questionable business practices. But they’ve become a 3rd party marketplace, like Aliexpress, Temu or Wish – and they now sell COMPUTER PARTS. But don’t buy them – or anything else from Shein for that matter. Watch the video and find out why.
  12. Yes, I really try to believe that I'm 100% the issue here, that I'm just stupid and don't know how to config networks. I might know how to setup load balancers on websites, Pi clusters, but that doesn't matter. I assume that all I know is useless when it comes to Routers and Ubiquiti. I did reset yesterday the AirCube ISP... unplugged it and plugged it back again (needed the USB micro port for something else) I plug it back and I can't access it on https://192.168.1.1 I truly want to make it work, but for now, I would say that Ubiquiti is the worst Networking company in existence. My frustration is too the moooon... Got my Steam Deck OLED, wanted to play, can't because Ubiquiti can't provide a normal user experience...
  13. Budget (including currency): $320 Hey. Right now I have a 600w (524w technically) psu. I was thinking of upgrading it and getting a 13600kf. However, Im now thinking I could get a 13700f for 330 USD. Its tdp is only 65w, so I think it might work. Right now I have a 3070 and a 12100f, so my psu doesn't have a lot of spare room for a 125w CPU. However, would 65w fit? my 12100f takes 60w, so would it be that big of a difference?
  14. While that one is expired, they have the PowerColor Hellhound for $850 after code...
  15. I'm sure you could compile in temp folder it will disappear after reboot. Except if you never reboot. I'm sure it's /temp Do remember to take out binary tho. Kinda sad that every source is placed in wrong folder.
  16. I wouldn't doubt in select models for ARM-native applications (something stupid like that superthin macbook Apple released years ago), but wouldn't expect that to be the case in most. For the good models, in x86 emulation, I am expecting something as bad as 50%.
  17. it never happen before, but I guess my PSU degraded, maybe thats why it is only happening now. Aight, will try with higher Watt PSU, thanks.
  18. Don't buy because of the battery - it has to be changed on both, just one is more urgent than the other, so put it into the cal, since prices might vary. Storage and extra camera might be the main difference - they are personal. Don't care for telescopic and don't shoot many videos - 12. If I'm not mistaken, battery might be slightly better on the Pro, but you have to ggl
  19. I have 2 very similar asus h310m boards and would like a basic post code reader. I’m capable at finding common faults but I’d like a cheap code reader to narrow down faults.
  20. Same. I use motherboard for limits and -30 in CO. I've tried -20 and -25 with no difference in performance but slight gains in voltage and temp.
  21. The Arch User Repository is intended for PKGBUILD's, in other words everything is supposed to be built from source. The exception to this is PKGBUILDs marked as *-bin. As to why yay keeps the source files, its for quicker rebuilds when you go to update. You also likely have make depends being pulled in, these are packages required to build the PKGBUILD but may not be necessary to actually run the compiled package. These may also be other AUR packages. As another note, these PKGBUILD'S are community maintained, which means you need to understand how they work and what each one is doing. As a result they could be poorly made, unmaintained, or even malicious. You should also be aware that these packages may need periodically rebuilt even if there hasn't been a version change. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/System_maintenance#Be_careful_with_unofficial_packages https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_User_Repository
  22. After shipping the Lancer ends up around the same price as me picking up the T-Force from Canada Computers when I get most of the other parts I'm getting. You're probably right about the SSDs, however- I haven't put as much thought into that yet since it's coming later. I could theoretically return the GPU and try to look for an upgrade, I grabbed it a few days ago, but what would my options be on that front? 4060TI? I'm not well versed in the AMD side of GPUs to know what would be comparable.
  23. As an aside, do a tax calculator. Getting a refund isn't proper money management. 7800xt is more than enough. You can spend yourself into the grave by choosing that little bit more for a bit more.
