  1. Past hour
  2. This might sound crazy, but despite being an Xbox player for quite a while, I cannot stand the 360 or original controller after using the Series X. Its quite annoying as I feel I've become a bit snobbish with my controllers. So I was wondering can a Series X controller be used on a 360 and are there third party controllers shaped and quality like the Series X that can be used on the original? My online search's didn't yield much so I've come to consult with the community that I refer to as the consult of the nerds. Don't worry thats not an insult, I'm on the same forum as you after all. lol
  3. That sucks, sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the Xbox controller, I personally love them. Though I will admit it is so hard returning to the Xbox 360 or goodness gracious the original's controller.
  4. Also yes I did switch from PC to console and switched from PC to a Mac, I know I'm the worse! XD
  5. So first let me establish a couple things: I'm for physical media and like Luke said during WAN show once "real physical media, not just discs disguised as digital download codes". The title could be a tad click baitey as I'm not sure if it is truly accepted on PC, but feel like its been much more accepted, at least from my perspective as someone who actually returned to consoles for the physical media after being a PC gamer for quite a while. I'm not defending digital only, its good for some, but I don't want it to be the only standard, just pointing out an oddity that I've noticed and could be entirely wrong about, hence why I'm asking the community. So in my perspective it seems that Steam and Blizzard being digital only have been wildly accepted as just natural and I can't remember anyone ever really blinking an eye or raising an eye brow at the topic. PC was all digital and console was not. However as modern consoles have begun to switch to digital I've seen a flurry of discussions about media preservation, proper ownership, games being taken away after the fact (thanks Ubisoft) and loss of access due to down servers whether they're for the game or the platform you purchased them on. Those discussion points are great and I want them pushed further as I want physical media to stay permanently, but it feels like it's really only being and only has been directed at the consoles. Perhaps these discussions did take place as physical media for PC gaming began to drop off and I was just too young or not in the scene when it was occurring, but if we're going to have these discussions about media, ownership and online services, should we not have it about ALL forms of media on ALL platforms? How come streaming movies, music and downloading games on PC have seemingly been accepted but we draw the line at consoles. Should the line not be where any possibility of the removal of perpetual ownership of a piece of media is concerned? Perhaps I'm just becoming the old lady screaming at the clouds. lol Would love to know your thoughts on the subject and any information I might be missing. Also just for good measure, f### Ubisoft. lol
  6. Takedown TV shows also okay? Limitless NCIS FUBAR - Episode 6
  7. In The Island (2005), Dr Merrick uses a desk style computer that at the time was thought to be a prototype Microsoft surface. It wasn’t, but was fairly close to the original Surface design idea. This was suspected because of a lot of Microsoft product placement in the movie, with talks about the Surface at the time, people thought this was it. And it wasn’t too much longer later that we see the original Microsoft Surface, later rebranded to PixelSense, show up as a very similar idea.
  8. Bottlenecks are not something to be too concerned about, realistic utilization varies between use cases. Sometimes the cpu will be a major limiting factor, sometimes it won’t. I would not buy any 1660/1650 at this point. Their product tier has been replaced with the 6gb 3060, RX 6500 and arc a380. The 6gb 3060 in general isn’t great but it’ll do fine. It’s what I would recommend in that tier. If used is an option for you, get a used GTX 1080 on eBay. It’ll perform better for less money than a 6gb 3050. Make sure your psu has the required pcie power connectors for the card you choose. And pcie is backwards and forwards compatible, a pcie 1.1 card works on a 5.0 slot and a 5.0 card works on a 1.1 slot, etc.
  9. I have gotten more into competitive shooters lately. Had my 144hz dell 1440p monitor for gaming. I had a second display for my media stuff. I recently upgraded to Alienware AW2523HF 1080p 360hz screen. I notice it feels more grainy, blurry text and games a little pixelated. Is this normal coming from 1440p? Or might their be something wrong with the display? Non competitive game like 7 days to die looks pretty terrible and grainy so i just play it on the 1440p monitor. All shooters and everything else are just fine on the alienware, which is kinda what i really wanted.Just be nice to know if it's normal "down grading" to a 1080p display.
  10. Budget (including currency): $1000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft(RLCraft Modpack), Valorant, Overwatch, 7 Days to Die, Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3 Other details i have a InWin A1 Plus with the built in power supply of i believe 650W, I have a stock cooler for a 3900x, i have a athlon 3000G and an Asus rog mini itx motherboard i would like to upgrade to a 5700g for the time being and play less intensive games until i get a dedicated gpu, i have extra corsair fans a friend gave me and i have an nvme ssd (1tb) with windows on it already so i have almost everything just wanted to see if my plan to go with a used 5700g and buying a dedicated gpu a month or two from now whether used or new is a good plan? I would also like to know if i need to buy a different cpu cooler or if my old stock cooler from a 3900x would work with a 5700g
  11. Hey, can someone help me find a rgb hub or some fans that come with a rgb hub. Basically my motherboard doesn’t have a rgb header but I want to use some rgb fans. Anything under like $170 would be good. thanks!!
  12. Mr Robot - too many examples Eagle Eye Enemy of the State Gamer Hotel Artemis (medical tech/3d printers) Independence Day Jurassic Park (park automation/Nedry) Lara Croft Tomb Raider (IT support guy scenes) Minority Report Ready Player One Real Genius Wargames
  13. Adding on to what @wasab said about emulators, emulators for nintendo, sega, ps2 games etc. All perform better on linux compared to windows since 99% of those games were designed to run on some sort of fork/modification of linux rather than windows. Another benefit is that on lutris I believe you can basically drag n drop your game ROM without having to even do any further configuration like you would have to do on windows.
  14. I tried this and it worked! Thanks for the help. I was nervous to mess around with it since I had gotten stuck in a boot loop by changing that previously, but now that my BIOS is up to date that wasn't an issue. Also if anyone else has the same issue and sees this, make sure you restore the default keys once you enable secure boot. Otherwise, it will be enabled but not active.
  15. Im going to be upgrading my pc ( dell vostro 3268) having a i5 7400 with 12 gb ram . I will upgrade it to 16gb ram but the problem is i dont know if i ahould buy the 1660super or the rtx 3050 6gb, the motherboard supports pcie 3.0 and since these 2 gpus are almost at the same price range im both confused and worried about bottleneck
  16. I’ve had my ASUS rig strix g16 for under a month and all of a sudden, the next day, the temps increased by 10c or something. Here’s a picture of what the temps were before, and after. The programs I’m running are the exact same and this is like a 1 week difference. The fans are louder and the temps are increased. I opened the laptop and checked the fans, they were clean. The laptop is also lifted using these. This is the second time I’ve purchased this laptop. The first one also overheated a month in. I have the laptop raised using these things and temps decreased by 5c which is good when I first elevated the laptop. I had this problem with my old model a month and a half in. I’m thinking about sending it for a rma for them to repaste the laptop. The laptop is undervolted by -80mv using the bios IMG_0607.heic IMG_0607.heic
  17. With a Ryzen 1600, RAM speed won't matter. The CPU is quite old. Like asking if you should use Premium or Regular gas in your 2007 Civic. If you need more than 16GB RAM, add the 2x4. If not, just use the 2x8.
  18. Yep Another one: which settings in BIOS can help me work with the lowest voltage? I know the CPU needs what the CPU needs (SILICON LOTTERY) but is there any way, I could consume less power and work with lower temps?
  19. Not crashing = stable Crashing = unstable
  20. Today
  21. So I'm redoing, and hopefully simplifying what was my massive backup scripts for my computers here at the house. I hit this problem where the the script kept crashing for no apparent reason. However most of the commands would work on their own. I spent way too much time trying to figure it out before it dawned on me, I was was trying to reference variables that hadn't been defined...  They originally would only get defined if you selected options that needed those variables. Whoops.

  22. I've had this happen to me with my Asus board, flashing the bios can help, mine had to be flashed twice to really get it working right, also do not try to use old bios profiles with the new BIOS, screenshot any settings and copy to a new profile, using the old profile seems to be how I broke mine...
  23. Have you tried getting an older version of a windows ISO? Perhaps the one you're using is corrupt in some sorta fashion or just flat out borked?
