  2. Indeed, cheaper boards make RGB control more of a PITA than it already is. Try Signal RGB if no other avail...
  3. It might be my particular use case, but it's still something that stands some floor with it. Yes, the Fire stick is great. I use it for TV control as well often times. Though, I wouldn't base anything off Netflix given how crappy movies they come up with, and how repulsive documentaries are off on it. Many on the same topic repeating the same formula like HOW TO GET RICH... hurr durr make a budget of your groceries, don't keep your money in pure cash on your account, etc. Well no thank you mister, I'm not going to learn how to get rich from Netflix. My mind isn't dead enough for that, the Dutch can keep their exceeding monthly Netflix payments and movies about animal cruelty to themselves. The Fire Stick is a pretty nifty device though I'll tell you that. It even has stuff like Karafun for karaoke. and IDK if it is still the same but, Chrome looked worse on Netflix than it did on Edge. A broken feature on Netflix. Viewing with PC was not the best idea for long. So I wouldn't base that conclusion on what the common user base do. They probably don't understand about these things either and are paying Netflix to watch cookie cutter shoot'em'up Call of Duty movies. If consoles worked more on their media segmentation, you can be ensured we might not even need these devices like the Fire Stick. The Fire Stick is nothing more than a glorified HDMI stick to make a dumb TV, have a fine smart TV OS and features. I for one truly want a console that outperforms alternatives for media consumption, not gonna lie. Like have at it, cause you have the hardware. In fact, A LOT of hardware for basic media consumption. So why not? The further consoles stay away from being set top box alike devices, the worse they'll get in my conception of view. You shouldn't need two or more things in front of a PC to play media. That is, say Fire stick, Xbox, or even an HTPC. Like what would even be the point of an HTPC if there was a console so good on media consumption anyway? In the older days where CD was still an acceptable media, you could just put a console in front of a TV and roll along. This will no longer be a thing if consoles keep being gamer only toy boxes, even with all the SSD upgradability, 5 nm mumbo jumbo, whatnot.
  4. Stop thinking about it as "fake vs. real", but hardware accelerated vs. software. https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/whats-the-difference-between-hardware-and-software-accelerated-ray-tracing/ If you use the RT cores Nvidia has been packing into their cards as an example:
  5. simple answer: u don't need "rt cores" for raytracing, never did never will, the tech is like from the 80s lmao edit: if anything "rt cores" are "fake" not the other way round, sure they help but you don't *need* them at all.
  6. I’ve been looking for a while but the n3 has 5 not 6 bays, and the n4 isn’t available yet. Also getting them in India is a pain. I’m building my own nas, I’m not going to pay for a prebuilt one These actually seem viable. I’m going to see if I can get them here. a rack defeats the purpose of a compact nas. I don’t have the space for a rack and just want a small compact nas That also has 100% import duty to India as it counts as semi knocked down. again racks aren’t an option eh, to be fair I do have a 250-300 usd budget leftover for this part
  7. I'm sorry that I knocked a SuperPi wall in here, I'd like to use my time loop feature just so I can go back to 2008 and make my Super Pi a thing again. If I'm not hitting at least 5.1 Ghz, I'm doing it "wrong" ? Who are you to tell me what I'm doing right or wrong with my setup? It's currently chilling somewhere around 1v to all core 4 Ghz because I don't need any more performance even in the heaviest games I stopped playing months ago. You pumping 1.51v will just not give you significant performance, that's it. If you honestly think super low voltage 4.75 all core is much worse than that spasmatic overclock, I don't know what else to say here. Maybe you should try going back to TPU where you moderate every news post cringing about AI. Felt like coming up with these since you called me "new guy" as well. What's up with the early attitude? Slow down your cowboy ante.
  8. Merged to Show off your setup megathread.
  9. I've been trying out some Minecraft Java shaders that look like rt, but don't actually use rt cores because Java edition doesn't support rt, and ive just been curious about what it is doing to do fake rt?

My mom's chevette was a "check the gas and fill the oil" type of car. The 3000 mile oil change schedule was for when effectively straight crude and engines burned oil so horribly.
  11. I played Call of Duty until World At War and it was fine. Modern Warfare was different but still alright, though I liked the WW2 setting more. I didn't bother with the rest as I've read they were more of the same. And it still is, all of the games are basically the same copy-pasta with new skins and maps, there's nothing new about them anymore, it's just a moneygrab. By the way, those games were already "old" when I got to play them, I didn't play at launch date. But it's not a COD issue, it's a gaming as a whole issue. Which is one of the reasons I don't touch any multiplayer game, cheaters are everywhere and they ruin the experience for everyone else, even more when it comes to "free" games. Once you know how games work, and what the "matchmaking algorithms" do, you don't wanna play anymore, I won't ruin it for you but all the games are basically rigged on purpose regardless of how good you are at them, it's like Casino, the house never loses, it's made in such a way you always try to return or buy passes, boosts, skins or whatever they're selling, "look at this new pass, it's only $1, don't you have $1? come on, buy it". I quit Half-Life because VALVE WON'T MAKE THE THIRD GAME ^^
  12. Redhat -> CentOS ->{yum} RPM round-a-bout Debian -> {apt}/aptitude Arch -> {Pacman} Gentoo ->{Portage} Xlib-> XCB-> Window managers (too many to list, 49 according to wikipedia) Is it too much to ask that "Double click" launch a program or open the document? What the OP experienced was merely a permission issue, but they shouldn't have to come to a forum to figure this out. The OS could have done the obvious look for the magic bytes/script interpreter associated with it and ask if they want to make it executable if it wasn't. Windows does this when you download things and try to launch it. Not everything Windows does is good or even user friendly, but Linux is not the leader, so it should be following the expectations of how Windows or how MacOS deal with things. Is it too much to ask to just download a "linux program", unpack it, and run it without having to do any finagling at all? The closest you get to that is Steam alone. That bypasses 4 different ways a Linux OS may deal with packages, and the 49 different window managers that may want to do things differently.
  13. As long as there is clearance, itl be fine. the air doesn't flow sideways.
  14. Build looks fine. In fact, it is nearly identical to my current build. the 12100f is a great CPU, and I have used it with very little bottleneck to my asus rog 3070. Although the aorus master card is a tad bit better. The mobo is good, although asrock software isn't the best. The nvme drive is fast and cheap, and the psu is pretty reliable and is an a tier. Great build!
  15. that the disk formatting is OK, but it's strange that it doesn't appear from the Internet, it only says em0 em1 and where's the rest
  16. Hello, I'm new to the forum so if this is the wrong place to post this then forgive me. To jump right into it, I’m getting a solid white Q led reading on my asus proart x570 motherboard. It’s completely sudden, up until today it’s been posting with 0 issues at all. I have 2 gpus, an RTX 3060ti and a gt 1030 that run a 3 monitor setup. After solving infinite issues and trying to get it to post, I finally got it to post on the gt 1030 once. I got it to post one time with both GPU's installed and I cannot replicate it. It posts just fine with only the gt 1030. By my conclusive and all knowing research, solid white qled means it’s having connection issues with the gpu This has never happened. Although, when I downloaded msi afterburner to mess around with overclocking my gpu, somewhere along the way I messed something up(I think I put the settings to max and it wasn't happy). So I booted in safe mode, and uninstalled msi afterburtner. Since then no issues up until now. I do have a slight suspicion as to what it could be. The night before, while shutting my PC down, I pressed the restart button instead of the power button (both physical), so then I proceeded to hold the power button to force a power down and go on with my night. Something about that seems like bad PC etiquette, so don't flame me too hard. I've tried various things, and I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestion is welcome and if you need more information I'm happy to provide
  17. Title. Does it exist? I found this, but it doesn't appear to be a keychain and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable drilling into the casing to add a chain/string to make it one. Does anyone make such a thing? Compact, fold out US/CA pins for standard AC outlets, with a USB out? I'd love to find something small enough to carry daily so the next time I'm at the hospital like today, +8 hours now... I have a way to charge! Big thanks for any and all advice!
  18. Try reseating the ram and resetting the cmos. Also try reseating the gpu.
  19. That’s a perfectly fine place to put it. Just make sure it’s not touching a fan and you’re good to go.
  20. It was streamed on Floatplane earlier today and the vod is posted.
  21. Well, for pure performance, The 7900 gre will get better fps, but nvidia cards are better suited for fortnite. However, the 7900gre still gets more performance. Honestly, I guess you'd be better of with a 7900 gre, since it does get a bit more fps. However, If you are spending so much on a GPU, not utilizing all the features, like tsa epic, ray tracing, and a higher resolution, feels kinda pointless. also, after 120, you really cant tell the difference in fps from like 300fps and 200fps, let alone the difference between 257 and 267 fps. Well, if you just want pure performance, which you do, then the 7900 gre is your best bet.
  22. Yeah I am thinking you might want to reach out to Corsair support and see about a replacement cable for this power supply. Their customer care is pretty good and they might replace your cables free of charge.
