  2. Hello, I recently upgraded some of my gaming PC and I am left with a CPU and motherboard now just sitting around. I want to has a NAS for a plex server because right now I just host one on my current PC. My question is do you think it could be cheaper to use the CPU and MoBo i have (AMD 3600x and B550 Mobo) and buy the parts needed or just buy a prebuilt NAS. I am completely new the NAS and I am thinking from a parts price but also a power draw price in the long term too?
  3. It's just to determine the concentration of oil in the product. The more there are, the longest lasting it will be. Eau fraiche is basically your aftershave. Last 30 minutes to an hour. Cologne tends to last about 2 hrs or so. 5% or less. Eau de toilette usually last a bit longer but not by much, around 3 hrs. Typically around 5% to 10%, some go to 15%. Eau de parfum has a higher concentration and can last anywhere between 5 to 8 hours. Around 20% oil concentration. Parfum, is by itself at the top if we exclude pure oil. Easily lasting a day. Can go to around 30% and even 40% in oil concentration. I don't know if there are actual guidelines in the industry for these. This is just info I found online.
  4. since I bought that pretty recently ill return it and get like a corsair or something. cooler wise I'll have to see especially since I'm kind of short on cash right now. also the case came with all the hardware in working condition as my dad actually bought it when it was new so I have everything working concerning the pcie slot covers my dad already took all of them off
  5. Not at all, ISP provided router is blocked from my access unless I pay them to use their wifi. Since I have no intention of doing that, cannot access it Not specifically Pihole, that is one thing I've heard about. I'd like to have the option to block certain sites, addresses (for example to stop Samsung TV showing ads in the menu). And if it blocks some of the ads itself, even better. To clarify, I have one U6+ AP, so not really dug into Ubiquiti yet. Controller is self hosted on Synology.
  6. I was going to suggest booting into a live instance of either Linux or some lite version of windows... But you have bitlocker, so you're SOL on that side of things. Your best bet would be safe mode and go through entering the recovery key. Along with using a few other anti viruses, including Malwarebytes, to see if they can't help you better than MS defender.

Tim Apple: "OK, we need a cooler for our MacBoo…

Also the southbridge isn't cooled AT ALL. Southbridge cooling is not ultra important, but any competent business laptop at least puts a little aluminum sheet on there or heatsinks it to the metal chassis. Apple didn't. Now THAT is a sign of quality

Sounds like quite the thrilling Job:

I want to see boxers do unboxing videos
  9. Tim Apple: "OK, we need a cooler for our MacBook Pro with an 8-thread i7 and discrete graphics."

Engineer: "Alright boss! My 8-year-old made this model of the fallopian tubes from a tin can for a science project! We should use that as our heatsink!"

This cooler is unbelievably pathetic. Putting CPU/GPU on the same heatpipe is already a sin, combine it with those tiny finstacks and the 0 airflow a MacBook provides and you've got the perfect formula for 87 degrees at idle.

  10. Because I asked how to use yay and instead have an asshat tell me to learn to use pkg build from an aur package before even consider using a helper. Should I also learn to skin my sheep and milk my own cow when I want to make a sweater and eat cheese? It won't change the muscle memory and habits of people who have been pulling doors all their lives. They might be as much annoyed at the designers stupid choice to create a handle-less pushing door as much as you are at their "stupidity". It is one of the reason why Windows people have such trouble with Linux. Some design choices are simply counter intuitive to people who have done things in a certain way.
  11. You mean assuming they're actually reducing the price by the amount they charge and not just increasing the work by the amount of the diagnostic fee? Also, as I've noted before, there is a difference between "It will be $900 for the installation" and "Based on previous jobs a typical installation usually will run between $900-$1000 but that can change based one the following X. " I 100% understand why they wouldn't want to go with the first, but the second gives a starting point and lets me, the customer, know that hey this might be a something I actually want to do or hey, even if its a perfect smooth sailing thing its just too much money so no need to get any further into this. If you can't/refuse to even provide that second one then it just bad faith to scam money off of a job that you don't even know if its remotely doable.
  12. So i downloaded red dead redemption a few weeks back but got bored of it and i uninstalled it. It might have gotten me into trouble of a virus because every time i start my computer I get the pop up "Select an app to open"MyUserName" folder". My windows defender is also showing me this threat for a month now. I have tried watching tutorials to remove it. But now i am running into a problem that i don't have administrator rights. I checked in my control panel that i do have full control of the pc but under the properties of the security folder i can't see my username or even add another account. I wanted to try booting in safemode but i have my bitlocker on which will require a recovery key afterwards. PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS FIXED ASAP!!
  13. I have replaced my own disposal and I wouldn’t try to give a flat price for it. Too many variables, especially on an older house where the drain trap might be installed in an unconventional way, or the electrical hookup is funky. Rolling a diagnostic fee into labor is really common, if for no other reason than it sweetens the deal with a perceived discount at time of the work being completed.
  14. I would suggest getting something with rtx 4080 mobile and i9 until AMD 8000 gpu series come out in Q4, no clue when laptops models will come out.
  15. Correct, the higher the refresh rate, the MORE data is coming out through the GPU. Just to give you an idea...a table pull from Wiki.. From the RTX 4090 spec page....and the fine print.
  16. Yea the US store is so far the only one I can find, but ordering it and shipping, including import fees and tax would be well over 3000 EUR unfortunately, also not sure about warranty when bought outside of the US and I'd need a new power adapter as well, since it won't work in the EU... That's why I'm trying to find one in the EU.
  17. Framework wants to go in other product categories

I hope they aren't trying to go too big too fast.

  18. Probably because you didn't take a psychology or engineering course in college. As someone who did, I strongly believe Linux's RTFM mentality is the biggest thing holding it back. Ever needed to read a manual to figure out how to operate a door? Most people are blind to the amount of thought put into every object we use every day to make them straightforward to use. Like how (well-designed) doors meant to be pushed don't have handles so it's blatantly obvious you don't pull them because it's physically impossible to do so. Ever noticed that? Probably not, because nothing prompted you to think about how to open a door.
  19. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/game-laptops/m18/spd/alienware-m18-r1-amd-laptop/useahctom18r1amd09 Getting it for 2.3k eur would be a steal, checked German and UK stores and some other and none had anything similiar.
  20. Screw you Coolermaster.

    (Video timestamped)

  21. When they do it to me (which is often), yes.
  22. You have too many points of failure, so it's hard to say. Cable Matters is a trustworthy brand, so I trust them to make a reliable 3.5mm to 2x TS Connector with no issues.
  23. Ok, so the refresh rate also has an effect on total bandwidth, cause when I moved one of the display to my IGPU so I have two attached now, then the 360 HZ option is there fine.
  24. I quite like the AMD GPU offerings, and AFMF (frame generation) working outside of the game engine has worked quite well for me with my 7800 XT. I don't really need DLSS or raytracing.
  25. The total bandwidth / resolution limit across the display outputs IS a thing. nVidia GPUs, RTX 4000-series included, have a similar limitation as well. Otherwise....you can have... people trying to run 16K 240Hz+ across multiple monitors.
