Thats probably a good idea. Isopropl alchohol will evaporate quickly preventing parts from getting ruined too. So do that and probably avoid water if you can...

OP included in his part list, its just helpful to include it in yours for comparison with the price. Some people want to pay full price for windows.

Zalman Aluminum Mouse Pad $7.99 shipped

Interesting. It is a bit annoying sometimes with tiny pieces of some random material getting in the way of moving the mouse using cloth. This aluminum you speak of basically seems much easier to keep free of tiny things and is much smoother as a result. Good to know. I'd be interested in buying it if I played more games with a mouse. It also looks like the area where your hand rests is super comfy. That would be what I would want most from it because when I do use my mouse a lot, that bone on the bottom left of my right hand really needs cushion or it turns a little red and even causes aches and pains.
  7. What kind of budget are you dealing with, because going AMD is gonna require at least a new board, possibly new RAM as well. I like recommending AMD as much as possible HOWEVER there is always a cost/benefit factor to consider.

Show off your old and retro computer parts

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. While I love making my daily machine as quiet as possible, for my XP/98 rigs I just love hearing the hard drives whirring and thunking away (especially the one in my 98 rig as it's just plain loud).

    liquid Damage on Laptop

I would say mostly yes, but then on top of what they did in the video you might want to take the keyboard (separate from anything electronics or batteries) and wipe it down/ wash it off.
  10. Lol. Thought I shared this video on here but I guess not. Been so long since I drove this car I forgot how obnoxious it was. and anyone good with photoshop wanna chop these wheels gold and/or bronze since I'm not digging the blue as much as I thought I would.
  11. Hello just looking for some opinions before I pull the trigger and buy the LG 27UL650-W 27 for $400 from Amazon. I need a color accurate monitor for content creation which is what I spend most of my time doing. I play games every now and then and tried out the asus mg279q 1440p 144hz monitor but it wasn't bright enough and costs $525 so I sent it back. Now I'm thi oh g about getting this monitor recommended from rtings https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/by-usage/photo-editing-graphic-design . It has freesync to which is cool! I was thinking about getting the asus pb278q and the benq GW2765HT but I the lg is a lot more exciting and a better choice? https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/7a3eac106 Thanks for reading! What are your thoughts?

    900D Build In Progress

posting a build does not leave you exempt from criticism i tried to word my criticism in a way that was minimally offensive, if you would like to see the unfiltered opinion, its basically this: this build looks bad because its a mismatch of parts sizes and the majority of the pc is going to empty space, its built in an out of date eatx case and the same end performance couldve been achieved, both in game performance and thermals, in a 20$ micro atx case with a decent air cooler i understand the desire for cosmetic appearance, but if youre going to build a PC with aesthetics in mind, actually build a PC that looks good, dont half ass it and i have a personal gripe against anyone who does this, especially in large, expensive cases like the 900D, because its a waste of what the case can do its my opinion and you dont have to agree with my opinion this also very much so not the context of my signature, thats specially for people who are asking questions and getting answers that dont apply to their question, there was no question asked here inb4 "nobody asked for you opinion"

    Are you strictly gaming?
  14. If it's sugary your going to need to tear down the laptop and properly clean the PCB and surfaces with isopropyl to remove any residue and ensure there is no corrosion.

    Dual Channel wont work

I would send back the ram and get some that's on the supported list.

Why are you a computer enthusiast?

I Guess the main reason is that I spend a lot of work-time and personal time behind my computer, and I always research ways to improve workflows and spend the limited free time I have as efficiently as possible. Even though it's hard to classify gaming as an "Efficient" use of time.
  17. Does that work on pop drinks cause then the sugar would remain sticky inside right?

This is a pretty good video. I think there are a few other similar ones on youtube as well. I havn't done something like that before, but taking it apart and letting it dry is probably a good idea.

All right here me out for this

Yeah, the vids they do are nothing really new. Hence, I don't really bother watching those vids. The crazy chaps over on OCN, TPU, etc. have done many nutty setups and still do crazy stuff that have me going.....wtf.....is that thing? A case in point, this from a chap over on OCN doing a full system TEC cooling setup:

    How well can Threadrippers game?

You can just use 4 sticks in an AM4 board, and the R7 1700 is really cheap right now. Quad Channel is only useful for a small number of applications. Should set you up just fine to upgrade to a 12 or 16 core AM4 CPU whenever they launch, or you could buy an X570 board at that point. CPU upgrade

Hi, just joined the forum and I do have a question. I built my first gaming rig with money that was given to me, but due to unfamiliarity with the concept I kinda mess up my machine to a degree. I have a GTX 1080 but only an i3 8350k CPU and ive noticed it being a bit of a bottleneck in a variety of games. So I was wondering would it be best to upgrade it to a i5 9400F, or just wait and go all the way for the i7 8700?
  22. Thank you, Linus, for listening (and compromising) with your community. Regardless of my thoughts on content, being able to search through videos allows us to find a specific video through the plethora of content you guys have. TLDW so far: They're keeping some of the click-bait titles, but also including product information and the type of video in order to improve researchability. (As the livestream isn't done yet, I'll keep updating this with more info as it comes out)

    1400-1600 Stream/gaming Build

If clearing the CMOS didn't work, you could try to re-seat your RAM. They might not have been seated 100% properly which could have also been the cause of the BSOD as well as why it isn't posting now. Remove the sticks and then put them back in.
