  5. No, 4070 are good, but 4070 Super are just better
  6. What is listed at the bottom of device manager. Can see large scrollbar. When device manager removed the driver it may have set the device as hidden? https://www.makeuseof.com/view-hidden-devices-in-windows/ Does windows update find a driver? Windows Updates > Advanced Options > Optional updates
  7. Yeah so now I need a new distro... See the problem? Nothing like that with Windows

  10. A couple of our internal apps stop working. I inform IT, they put the updated apps into our internal app store. I download them and check that everything works. I notice that one of them has trouble logging in, so I restart my phone and everything works fine after that. Given the hiccup and knowing the complete lack of tech affinity among my coworkers, I decide to write a short guide on how to go about downloading and installing the apps in question with plenty of screenshots and mention that in order for them to work properly again, they might have to restart their phones too. I send an E-Mail to everybody in my department with all the information. A couple of minutes pass and someone asks me for help with the steps I clearly outlined in that little guide. More people come by asking for help doing the things I outlined in the guide. One person managed to nuke her enrollment in our corporate MDM entirely. I reevaluate my will to live and question why I even bother writing guides for people who are either too stupid to follow them or too disrespectful to put in the effort before consulting me.
  11. Except a book, movie or music can't hack or steal my information, my identity etc.
  12. Yeah, Mint is great and all but for bleeding edge hardware you need something based on Fedora or Arch.
  13. I know this is couple years old but I been having the same issue.....have you gotten this resolved?
  14. HBR3 maximum data rate is 25.92 Gbit/s, which is a physical bit rate of 32.4 Gbit/s. Requirement for 2560×1440 at 240 Hz 10 bpc is 30.77 Gbit/s data rate, which becomes 38.46 Gbit/s bit rate in HBR3 transmission. So it would be outside the limit. But you are comparing the data rate requirement of one against the bit rate limit of the other, which is incorrect If the monitor only supports HBR3, then either it uses DSC, or does not allow 240 Hz and 10 bpc simultaneously. In either case only HBR3 rated cable is needed, anyway.
  15. Under the assumption that Tiktok has nefarious intent behind it, is banning it a good course of action or will it lead to censorship? That's the thing with the other that's doing what it will when it wants with whom.
  16. Seller has most likely lowered "power limits", but why - no idea. 3DMark runs would be perhaps better proof, but also asking why the power limit is decreased might give some info imo.
  17. Sounds like there's a short in the laptop and the brick is shutting down to prevent damage.
  18. Just checked, yeah Linux Mint is fairly conservative with it's kernel updates, in GUI the update manager should have had an option to update kernels.
  19. Almost to page 1337! There was a big storm last night, lightning hit close to my building. Had a guy come to me this morning asking me to repair his laptop, absolutely insistent that something was wrong with the laptop. "What's wrong with it?" "Lightning hit it." "I see. But what's wrong, will it not charge, not turn on... etc?" "Nothing's wrong, but lightning hit it" "So the laptop's fine? It doesn't need any repair then." "Yeah but lightning hit it."
  20. ive settled on a 5600x for 120, strix 2070 super for 230, teamgroup t force 2x8gb 3600mhz rgb kit for 50, asus B550-PLUS AC-HES for 85, crucial p3 plus 500gb for 50, in total for 495. Is that good?
  21. Those OEM systems don't usually use standard motherboard layouts or standard power supplies or standard headers. Outside of fitting an equally sized card in the system, like an RTX 3050 6GB, I'd recommend saving up for a whole new system instead. RTX 3050 6GB uses no AUX power and is the most powerful card that can be low profile without any AUX power. Since its a newer-ish Dell OEM system, you can't simply power supply swap it either to get something with AUX power, if it doesn't have an 8 pin already available.
  22. Its better to make your own thread to get people to help you with this
  23. I have had problems with Bluetooth on my new motherboard, Earlier in the week I was able to connect bluetooth devices without any problem, but now it won't even let me turn on bluetooth in windows settings. Currently, I have: Checked for windows updates Tried installing drivers (MSI will not let me install the Bluetooth drivers) I have checked BIOS to make sure that the device is turned on and selected. I have gone through device manager and uninstalled both the wireless and the bluetooth drivers, and now the whole tab of bluetooth devices is no longer present I have used MSI center to try and scan for drivers Fresh Install of Windows I am currently at a loss for what I should do, I've already spent way to much time trying to figure out what the problem is. Current Specs 7800x3d MSI B650 AM Wifi 2 TB WD Black NVME SSD 32G 6000 Mhz T-Force DDR5 Ram RTX 2060
  24. Crude comparison, they aren't the same in the slightest. Maybe shouldn't have said getting rid of it altogether (I misspoke, sorry), and maybe depends on your definition of what constitutes social media, but denying TikTok wouldn't fall under this. There's still plenty of other social media platforms which people can utilize, and the main point was exactly that, people have a multitude of options for communicating with people worldwide regardless. Now you're just either putting words in my mouth or inferring an extreme standpoint based on a brief comment. Again, people have a multitude of options available to them, and taking one away is in no way comparable to what you've said. If you want to say it's slippery slope because "where do you stop?", fair enough, but I don't think any and all mediums for communication are required to imply support of free speech (which I do). And? I don't think those are comparable to the effect of what TikTok is having, which is well-documented in psychology (something which your examples wouldn't have when those things were stated, or likely used models which are deemed obsolete by today's standards).
  25. IDK how to judge performace based on Furmark bench... Furmark is usefull as a power virus to max out the power on the card as much as possible. I can tell you that the stock power of 6800 XT is 255W and this card is definitely running in a power limited state. In adrenaline SW you can go down to -6% from the stock power limit which would make it run at 239.7W max. Considering this card runs even lower than that suggest that either it's further limited by max clock and heavy undervolt (which on stock is around 2500MHz) or has some other SW or HW modifications. Either way, ask him to run this card in stock config and ask what are both the avg GPU temp and the hotspot temp.
  26. So, is it better to avoid this offer? Given that the card is running at a very low power?
