  1. Past hour
  2. You better not... cause I still don't like 11 and 12 is going to be AI ridden. 10 is going to be EOL and they'll start asking $58 for every damn security update soon. The security update prices will increase to $570 after a while. I mean, come on here. Are you nuts? If an OS asked me $570 for every security update, I can ensure you I'd ask Dr. Web aka Igor to go back to the Russian MIG-30 he used to work on before anti-virus, take off with it... take a spin from Russia to Redmond, Washington... and drop a homing to the Microsoft Campus at 5 AM when no one is in. Save us from the trouble which will be the future Skynet. Stick with Linux if you can. If no other avail, install WIN 10 HOME and call it a day. Pro version only if you require the extra stuff it gives in the control panel...
  3. Thanks a bunch Jarsky for the reply. Thats encouraging to here about 24.04. So i'll just be patient. Yup i always make snapshots. I was just experimenting to see what 24.04 was like (as an upgrade) before fully committing. So all good -- nothing lost. I am using 23.10. And as far as i am aware 23.10 is not LTS as u mentioned. The last LTS was 22.04, iirc. Could be wrong though.
  4. OK thank you! I ordered one just incase but will return if I don't. New builder trying to navigate all the parts. Appreciate the response!
  5. Pcpartpicker is a bit picky when it comes to USB-C headers and ports. The motherboard header supports Gen 2x2 (20 Gb/s). The case USB-C port doesn't support 2x2, so it will run slower. You should be able to use the case cable without issue.
  6. To be fair, there was an issue not too long ago with Samsung that was remedied with a Firmware update, thus, it's definitely something to keep your eye on. Alongside other persistent updates. I hope you solve the issue in lieu of, and if you don't; we can see what else to troubleshoot to get you gaming again. And no problem, we're here to assist when we can!
  7. You know what, that’s my bad. I have list track if the chronology of the responses
  8. This probably happens due to the over all setup being just... old. F.E.A.R used to be hefty on setups of that era, and the fact that this is such an antic laptop with a HDD adds up. Try with an SSD on the game.
  9. I tried bunch of extensions but all of them are broken in one way or another. Basically I don't want to see shit like this below. Possible to automatically night mode any site?
  10. Here I was joking with people when I first entered this forum, that i'm Snapdragon CPU-chan. Now is Snapdragon the real shit with beating every single laptop CPU out in the market but I have predicted this happening ages ago. All those sales from phones... yes. This is probably quadruple times faster than the 4 core Alder Lake N100 found on my Asus Prime ITX thingy.
  11. I took the screen off a Dell Inspiron 15 3511 because I didn't want to order a screen replacement. Now, I can't connect to Wi-Fi and I think it might be that on this model the Wi-Fi card is wired through the display. Do I need a new screen?
  12. It looks like the 2 data drives are striped, or raid0 basically. IDK why you have 2 spares, I'd just make a 4 drive raid5 / raidz1
  13. Some eBay hunting for a 1TB SATA M.2 SSD (long story, I have a motherboard with a SATA-only M.2 slot) found me this gem:

Yeah, buddy, not a (legit) Samsung... or NVMe... or M.2...

  14. No idea what to pick... but here goes some off my head, A blown Glow Master EL34 hi-fi tube amp for passive speakers DFI X38 Lanparty smoked with a short. Sabretooth Asus board with i7 3820 and Tagan 1200W PSU shorted HD 2900 XT burned GTX 285 cooked and toasted i9 7900X delid job going drunk and demolishing the whole thing, throwing it into trash Taking a literal hammer to a GTX 1080 Ti, murdering the screen outputs and the rear blower end with the whole shell... drunk Giving my mom the sticks to my classic Roland Drum Pad controller, with her murdering the unit thanks to me touching buttons to shut the thing off... Last but not the least, I sell my stuff always for dirt cheap. Yeah, I'm apathetic sometimes... lol.
  15. Sounds good, I'll look into some ssd's and make sure that they are compatible.
  16. You're very welcome. I actually recently did a switch on some of my devices to Linux, so I understand the struggle. I would recommend DoNotSpy11 in that case: https://pxc-coding.com/donotspy11/ Or seeing that you're an advanced user, I can additionally suggest Blackbird: https://www.getblackbird.net/download/
  17. Yes, I have it confirmed they can bridge it for me. They offered proactively after my multiple requests for LAN IP assignement Yes, I know. I had it hosted on my PC at first, but wanted to try docker and hosting it on synology. And in the end just kept it to see the devices connected. For now it seems Cloud gateway Ultra might be the off the shelf solution, then I wouldn't even have to self host the controller. Or since it seems to be hard to get now, maybe Unifi Express, but that has wifi AP that I don't need. Is there anything similar to pihole on Unifi devices? Will have to research that a bit more.
  18. For a gaming headset they're acceptable (as far as headsets under Audeze Maxwell go anyway) but a USB mic + conventional good closed headphones is far better, it's why i mentioned the Rode specifically, if you ever need a headset you can't get any better until you reach the Maxwell (100 euro over your budget minimum)
  19. I am doing that now, with an ubuntu servrer virtual machine. It is for when the home internet is down.
  20. sussy quote without context

    "for complex deep hole applications"

  21. What? The community is not bad its just that the community gets mad at ppl who are using linux the wrong way. I mean to be fair Linux was never designed for the average joe or for gaming. If people rlly start saying that they are fed up of windows and want to move to Linux and play games then just dualboot for the love of god not all games can be played on linux due to anticheats and the market share for linux gaming is not big enough yet.
