  1. Past hour
  2. <-- Currently running a 13900k and a NH-D15 with almost that same exact RAM (just a faster speed). That's low profile RAM, why was RAM clearance an issue?
  3. Ok, thanks anyways it seems I will have to reinstall windows and/or exchange the Mainboard
  4. I noticed this issue when I was getting huge difference in FPS with the same game(Witcher3) and settings. It could run at 140+ FPS, but some time, it is just running at 60+. I started testing and found out that, by just doing reboot and start the game at the same scene, it could either run at 140 or 60 FPS. After further investigation with HWInfo, I have captured some of the key metrics: When it run at 60FPS: total gpu power [% of TDP] == ~75% performance limit - reliability voltage == yes performance limit - power == no gpu power == ~275 When it run at 140FPS: total gpu power [% of TDP] == ~90% performance limit - reliability voltage == no performance limit - power == yes gpu power == ~340 Any idea what might be the issue here? system spec: CPU: Intel I7 10700 mobo: Z490 Aorus Elite RAM: gskill sniper x ddr4-3200 8GB x2 PSU: CM v750 gold v2 M.2 SSD: intel SSD7 2TB GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10G
  5. Here is someone with the same issue that I have, I'm really conflicted if I should return the parts or not since I can do it in the 2 weeks of getting them..
  6. Hello, My friend wants a new monitor The desired specs are: 32-34 inch curved monitor qhd 144Hz+ He was suggested the following two: 1) Dell S3422DWG 2) Samsung S32CG552EM I told him these might be a bit old model and there could be new and better at the same price though I am not sure which myself I also recommended him not to have curved but he insists. From what I understand most curved are VA and I was thinking maybe IPS would look better, but again, not sure Would you pick any of the two above, or something else? (At the same price range - $300-400) Thanks!
  7. I use bleachbit. Even without a swap partition much of my RAM goes unused, so I create partitions for several folders in RAM that I don't care (or think) should get wiped regularly. This way every boot they are new. (That did take some experimenting though, as some didn't like this, most didn't care.)
  8. Wow so it won't even run at 4000 with the base timings it's still crashing? How about underclocking the CPU or turning off any "performance enhancement"? Checked that the socket doesn't have a damaged contact? I'd say to RMA it but....Asus RMA is, from what I've heard, useless, if you even still have warranty. One more thing to look into regarding downgrading the BIOS, back in ye olde 4th gen Haswell times I ran into a specific error with Asus boards and BIOS flashing. The in BIOS flash utility was broken. The BIOS number shown at boot and in BIOS was updated but the actual microcode was not or not completely. This left certain Haswell refresh CPU's unable to run in earlier 4th gen Asus boards. Long story short, I eventually worked out that the Windows based update utility worked and was able to update the BIOS. It took a lot of snooping and some guessing, buying a couple extra CPU's and motherboards. If you're using the in BIOS flash utility, it's possible that's why the downgrade isn't working. However with unstable Windows...well that would be a really bad issue.
  9. A lot of these guys are "sensitive" to sound. Moving air also makes noise, there is no escape.
  10. One on the back, one on the back of the top. Or just experiment.
  11. I did not expect this but Linux does get bloated over time more than I thought. I have done some tweaks like I prefer to keep journald disabled as I don't care about journaling. With just 3 days of journaling, I saw that the log size was 400+ MB, which was a LOT of bloat. Right now, the knowledge I have about cleanup is the /tmp folder, the system journals, and maybe some .cache folders or something in your home directory. What all places can I check for unneeded files and folders? Above that, I also I have suspicion of what other components might be generated bloat. First comes in mind is Pacman. I am sure it has to be storing some files and I know it also stores some log which should definitely delete. I know I can also clean the cache with a Pacman command. And when we are talking about Pacman, lets talk about the packages installation. To remove a package I used to just use -R, but now I know using -Rns removes dependencies and config files as well. So, if I purposely install a package and perhaps even run it, and then use -Rns, will it be like I never ever installed that package in the first place or is there that twiny winy bit of left over? There is also the command to remove the currently non needed packages but it has a harder syntax. The second program I have a suspicion on is Yay, an AUR package manager. Because it builds packages from source, I am sure it has to have a lot of bloat. Except my home directory, where does it create stuff? I have taken a look at bleach bit but I don't think it can clean all the stuff I have mentioned but there are some good options like cleaning bash history.
  12. You can only update it, to actually interact with the bios you need a CPU and graphics output
  13. Paywalling is entirely the choice of the content creator, as others have said. Some creators require a paid subscription to their channel to access certain videos, just like how this one video requires Premium.
  14. Gigabyte's documentation will tell you how to update the BIOS without a CPU. See page 12 of their "unique features" guide: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_intel700-features_e.pdf?v=d6673418751249dec153085bd2189129

It’s official. I am currently in better shape,…

Lets go!!!! I've been working on getting in better shape too. Put on easily 30ish lbs in a year, but I've lost about 8 in two months which is nice! Staying motivated is my biggest issue
  16. podkall

Scored a new microphone for streaming and vocal…

    why not Altec "electric razor"?
  17. Budget (including currency): 15-20 000kr, around $1500 Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photoshop, Premiere, Avid. I play GTA, Fifa and Red Dead on my ps5 not a big gamer, gamer but love me some Cities Skylines so would love to be able to play the new one in some capacity. Other details: I have a Samsung Viewfinity S5 34'' monitor that I use with my m1 Macbook Pro at the moment. I know I want the Fractal Design North case, but very open to any other components that would suit my needs. Being a Mac user for many years I like things to just look nice and clean, so I really don't want tons of RGB. From my youtube research Nvidia sounds like the better option for creatives, but I'm open for anything! I like the look of the ProArt series but I also know I will not look at the parts when I'm using them so I don't know if they're worth it, like do they have any benefits other than being nice to the eye? Put together this on a Swedish equivalent to pcpartpicker, what do you guys think?

honestly, for 25 dollars, this is a steal. http…

i feel like this screwdriver might come with some camera or something to spy on you because that price seems too good to be true.
  19. what about boot into bios is that possiable without cpu?
  20. Was wondering how you were able to upgrade a mxm gpu as usually that fails due to no whitelist but the second I saw Clevo all was explained Good scores for a mobile chip.
  21. UPDATE: This is what I realistically would have bought ($1826): https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/V3BNwg This is what I'm tempted to go with based off suggestions ($1867): https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/pZj3GP Is $40 worth the difference? (The motherboard is $210 including shipping)

hey all, i have a question for you. do i tell m…

Don't do it unless they don't matter. I'm finishing up my senior year of HS, not going to college, so my final grades don't really matter. The trades don't really care as much about your grades as a college would. For the like 2 exams I have at the end of this semester, I'm just not going, because I will be at work by then. Don't do what I'm doing, unless they really don't matter at all.
  23. In the project, I will use old but really outstanding Cooler Master fans that also fit visually!
  24. This is my 1st time overclocking anything in my life, and I really dont know what's the next step On the video's tutorial on my AMD Overclocking side of my gigabyte bios
  25. True, supports USB flashing, totally forgot that, nevermind getting rev. 2 then
