The CPU

Hello everyone!! I am ridiculously new to this site (well just 5 mins old in this site at the time I was writing!!) and to be honest, this is probably the first blog I've ever written (don't get me wrong, but this blog thing always flies by me!).

Well enough bla bla... let's get to business (I guess)! They say life's hardest decision is to make a career choice and all those that follow. WRONG! The hardest thing to decide is what parts you're gonna choose for your next build. I think you all will agree with me!! :P

And as you guys already figured, I'm in a jeopardy about my cpu choice for my next build. And the problem is caused by two budget oriented serious players; intel core i3 4160 and amd fx-6300. I decided to go for amd. Then couple of hours later, I changed my mind! Well the next morning I assured myself that no matter what I'm getting amd over intel.... (well you got the picture I guess!!)

I researched a lot, watched a ton of videos, read a lot of reviews, user reviews, surfed every corner of the internet for a little more information. And guess what, the decision is even harder now!! :(

Now, like everyone else; I myself have some unique situations going on! Let's break them down...

1. I'm building a purely gaming rig. I have an i7 laptop that does pretty well in other operations. And as I'm not a pro (well might have to do some solid works and designing as my university will force me to), heavy duty operations are out of the window. The rig will be used for gaming 200%!!!
2. I am an upgrader (if that's the word!). So in the long run, I will upgrade things (well not for next 8/9 months). That option is open.
3. In my country, an i3 is cheaper (overall) than the fx. I won't use an aftermarket cooler if I choose i3 (but have to for the fx). So there are some savings!

Now, I will couple my cpu up with an R9 390 and 2X4 DDR3 (1600). I want everything maxed out (in all games possible) in a 1080p with 60 FPS (might consider 1/2 settings medium for the FPS) for the next 12 months (well none may assure me of that, but hey, let's try!!).

I don't care if you're an intel fanboy. I don't care if you're an amd fanboy. I don't care if you're an apple fanboy (if that's a thing!!). Please flood it with your views, opinions, comments and everything else!! I am lost here, and I'll use every bit of info you guys will provide!! Just focus on the cpu, that's the request! Let's put the gpu for another day!!

So, i3 4160 or fx-6300??
HELP... PLEASE!!! :(

My one thought is that if you are going as hardcore as a R9 390 you should be looking at a higher calibre of CPU? Like at least a 4th gen i5 or an AMD 8000 series?

My rig has an i5 4690k and an R9 290x and I know that it is my CPU which is the bottleneck; if you had an i3 or a 6000 series running an even better GPU the bottleneck would be even more extreme.

wow! seriously an i5 4690k is bottlenecked by 290x??

(I might to maintain the budget, go for an i5 with a lower end. then will upgrade the gpu in a year!!)
