"I'll study when it starts being important"
It's been a while! Hi! The main source of inspiration for my posts is school and I'm on holidays, so... yeah...
But I've been thinking, and I wanted to write something about this. Currently I'm in middle school (grade 5 to 9 in Portugal), next year I'm going to grade 9, the last year, and it's a transition year, since in grade 10 you're in high school. Since it's the last year of middle school it's also the last year that won't matter for university access.
And one thing that I hear a lot of people say, especially those who want to get in courses with high averages, like medicine for example, with the highest average of the course at 18.35 (0/20). All but one of the people that say that they want to get into medicine have "poor" grades, from 0 to 100, they get 70's and 80's rarely. When you ask them "How do you plan to get into medicine with those grades?", they say: "These don't matter, when I get to year 10 I'll study and get good ones.". Is it really going to work, I wonder. Even though these grades don't really matter, they are a good way of getting some basic knowledge of some important areas (like Physics and Chemistry for medicine). If you don't get a single thing about Physics and Chemistry now, you'll have an hard time understanding it in hs, and on top of that getting 18's and 20's. IDK, I might be wrong, they might be geniuses that are just hiding, but what excuse do you have to not give a shit about school now? It'll make life easier for you later on.
I don't plan on getting into medicine, ain't nobody got time fo all that stress when getting results and I don't really like it. Currently I'm thinking about CS or some other area connected to tech, which are much more accessible, IDK, I still have time. And maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'll be a total fail and they'll get amazing grades, only time will tell.
