The theme today is under $1000!
This build above is able to achieve overclocking with an ASRock board which already has the BIOS update for it already.
With the 212 EVO, a overclock is expected to be stronger than the stock i5-6600K, easily $50 more.
As M.2 SSDs enter the mainstream, the 850 EVO from SAMSUNG has incredible performance as well as great pricing per GB!
For standards, the Case chosen has USB 3.0, and USB 3.1 Supported motherboard.
With an OS included, this is the most performance you can squeeze from your money!

Performance Numbers (PassMark) :
CPU 7040
GPU 6817

Gigabyte 390

not good psu

not good case

Asrock mobo

Spends money on SSD instead of fixing the above

does not get my approval

True, but the focus on the Gigabyte 390 was because there was a deal on it, making it $20 cheaper than other alternatives.

Since M.2 SSDs are going to be the norm this build kinda focuses on new tech.

ASRock mobo is for the overclocking of skylake CPUs since they already have the bios update out, msi doesn't have it yet.

Case wise, the choice could have been better but yet again this is the cheapest case with clean looks possible for a USB 3.0 case.

That's a pretty impressive build. I'm looking to build a machine for the GF at some point. Wouldn't surprise me if I base it around your ideas.

The PSU would be fine. So long as its Bronze rated its pretty safe to use. The case I'd probably swap out for a Bitfenix . And the OS I'd save a few bob and give her a Linux distro as she's more than happy with that on her laptop.

Also I'm actually now half tempted to get that M.2 SSD for myself ^.^
