Advice for new members

Please new members, use these things, and use them wisely. I don't care how old or young you may be, you need these more than I do. http://www.merriam-webster.com/ http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/95599-linus-tech-tips-forum-code-of-conduct/ And one more piece of advice: Do your research before you post something, please.

Hardware speculation of the newest laptops of 2014

So Razer has now officially launched their new high end gaming laptops following on with what their target audience wants very thin overpowered gaming laptops in two different models which are hardware improvements over the previous graphics counterparts from either nvidia or amd replacing them with newer models (although my understanding is that nvidia"s new GPU – NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 860M also to be featured in the upcoming Y series from Lenovo rumored appearance and official launch next month April to around May between that time frame) we have a huge beefy kick up the butt for getting a higher resolution panel @ a wooping pixel by pixel count of 3200 by 1800, or 262 pixels per inch—a higher pixel density than even Apple's much-lauded Retina display. On to the topic of display panels they are also rooting to follow the matte panel screen however I think its an optional verdict (which is good) that they have also added a new display technology IGZO reducing the weight futhermore on a large or small display (IGZO may only be supported on the Razer Blade Pro Seventeen inch gaming model which is too bad) Do any gamers really care about ten point multitouch on a display that is as big as the iPhone 5s or maybe slightly bigger I believe the hard buttons above are an essential necessary add on since it looks the part Whether your are interested or not here are a couple links http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-pro http://www.pcworld.com/article/2107281/hands-on-updated-razer-blade-and-blade-pro-laptops-still-slim-more-supercharged.html It has been stated by PCWorld the most top tier model will be featuring the and I quote Support for multi monitors using the latest HDMI 1.4a >_> and video output which also includes fullsize Display port no VGA Now as the title says I will be doing a lite rant or comparison between this laptop to the most anticipated gaming laptops to date These are the following gaming grade or slim line ultra powerful laptops available and coming out The Lenovo Ideapad Y series (upcoming this year 2014) Lenovo Y50 (15.6”) Lenovo Y40 Touch (14")
The Apple Macbook Pro (15.4" LED backlit) @2880x1800 pixels (Retina) Scaled resolutions: 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1280x800 and 1024x640 pixels (13.3") 2560x1600 pixels (Retina) Scaled resolutions: 1680x1050, 1440x900 and 1024x640 pixels
The Dell XPS 15 (9530) with the lower screen size then the Razer Blade Pro but the same size as the the bigger brother Lenovo model
AORUS Gaming Laptop X7
MSI GS70 STEALTH
GIGABYTE P35K
ASUS ROG G750JX
Upcoming comparison coming soon so subscribe to my blog :D

My thoughts on Battlefield 4 Mar 6th patch

Finally BF4 gets massive balance patch. Now I have covered most of this in my earlier post http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/108970-my-thoughts-on-battlefield-4-jan-30th-and-upcoming-patches/ won't comment on same things. There are several things in this patch that I have opinion and I hadn't commented on last time, so here goes. This is only my opinion. I'll quote changes and give my thoughts on them. You can check whole thing in here http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2955065226155386316/ General fixes The most important things. Wait, what? Into what, I ask... Sounds fun. Was there problem....? You can "rapid fire" shells without it being problem. But I've seen few times tanks with too fast firing. And when you don't have it, its annoying. Minor things but welcome ones. Last one particularly. I hate when firing half of clip into someone and they seems to survive without hits. This sounds interesting. I like the part where you push boats back to water. No more waiting squadmate to do so with another boat. If only they would fix that same thing on tanks and apcs. Spectator mode I don't use this feature much and so won't paste anything. Overall there is some good and imo some not so good changes. Since spectating is mostly used for casting matches I feel that DICE has focused more towards general pubbers with these changes. Grenade balances I didn't cover these before and there isn't much to cover. Just this: For now minis have been almost better than M67. Huge change. Makes Metro fun again. Or more fun than it was. Or not. Pistols Last time I didn't have anything to say on these. Now I have something. Good thing. I use QSZ-92 atm and I like it. Its like M9 of BF4 with current M9 being shadow of BF3 version. For weapon and vehicle changes check my post on PC Gaming section (link at beginning).

Apparently Blogs Work!!

To start off my useless and nonsensical rambling I figured the most fitting topic would be, wait for it, Blogs Work! Holy Cow, It is totally awful to create one, and it's super unintuitive in every way, but man is it neat. This is probably going to be a pretty dry post as I haven't thought it out too well, and it's mostly just to set up a Blog in the first place. I may add in my random, probably pointless, thoughts on various things.

In-progress refinement of my Project M13

TEJI Designs™ Kingsley Wong. - Custom case designer & builder. I would hope to say and guess that this second update will be a bit more refine the the first which there happens to be a link of my first Blog above So what is Project M13 you may ask? It is a custom fully build pc for myself Kingsley Hopefully by the time I have covered all the necessary design improvement flaws and development I can proceed towards the daunting task of purchasing materials & equipment in due time Harnessing the knowledge necessary for me to become a tiny bit awesome. So what I had begun to do last time which was about two months ago was draw up a sorta brainstorm of the mandatory things I would have liked to be in my design I am still disputing whether I should make a couple more incremental adjustments (by which I probably do need to revise over getting myself and other members of maybe this community or friends to place feedback on) I have two very swell good ideas for a future design studio of some sort called TEJI Design and M13 which is a slight deduction for my other logo or branding of my first original name before teji designs called magnitude (thirteen) iota (nine) bear with it ~_~ I cannot type with my numbers since my keyboard on this laptop is broken Furthermore I might plan to change my laptop to another one with a beefier graphics card ram etc but back to my original point I am probably in need of wisdom and knowledge so I am conjuring whether I should not only keep my list of mandatory drafted spec list or make an entirely new one I will probably keep it since writing a new one isnt hard but might not live to my expectations anyway but I will be either putting another system within the case or chassis which will be a whole new challenge to compete with having already wanting a entire Haswell E system inside adding either now an MATX system OR an MITX build too If more cores and low power is possible by the time haswell E revision twenty eleven three point zero and the newer broadwell with maybe six cores vs quad core ugh (u_u) Designing is sorta going well but I have not drawn anything due to my brain refusing to leak any of its ideas in the imperial courtroom of Kingsley"s >_< Back to where I am currently making incremental shifts in motion The motherboard will feature an all aluminium design using a clear transparent or translucent single piece of acrylic to make a glowing effect for aesthetical purpose It might actually be a four piece since I had originally be a single piece which would be reversible due to rotary switches cogs and sliding joints Actually scrap the four piece idea it will be either a two piece motherboard for the front which will show off the haswell e build Sandwiched in the middle piece of acrylic and then another sheet or motherboard tray for a back system The graphics cards will still be using the angled custom bracket with pcie risers Since quad graphics cards is a little absurd I am planning on three + a sound card rather than a pcie ssd however hopefully the rumored haswell e support up to ten sata three six gigabit per sec is actually the unreleased I believe Sata express so that the solid state drives can be pushed far beyond the limited access of their speeds Motherboard concept designs are being developed though it is not the easy thing to express how a mosfet heatsink and chipset + plx heatsink will be like although I hope I can do it In addition to that compatibility with watercooling is essential mineral oil cooling is far beyond my extent right now Still hardly any news from neither the new cpu architectures but they had better smash some sense into amd For ram low latency high density modules with large quantity is more needed If there is a link to a drafted haswell e pdf please send it to me or put a link in the comments belows I guess that is all my talk done for today on what I must cover up till May June or July Hopefully my designs will be done by end of April early May then I can leap forward

Blog Entry #00001

Finally! Guess the feature was there but sure was un-intuitive as could be. Well that's is over with (the blog feature). Issues: 1. GPU Hardware Testing, so few ways to test if your GPU is working as it should, or do those graphics tests with absolutely no numbers or test parameters qualify? I think not, who knows if a pixel has the wrong color? OK did find a few but they are not up to my needs, list coming as I'm still testing them, maybe in a thread. 2. There is no 2, need to get this blog out, times a wasting!

Why I Went Gold.

It's a glorious moment when you are proud of your current achievements, no matter how apathetic you were when they were accomplished or never really put thought into it. But when you do, realizing how you've actually, truly, ended up with jobs your childhood dreams conjured up, it's a joyous moment. I've now worked at Activision at 18, straight out of High school, was payed $50 bucks a pop for building Pc's via craiglist, and now, I find myself in a young company that distributes video game accessories. It's usually at this point where you truly appreciate your teachers. At each point, I've learned that Linus tech tip videos/NCIX had some hand in helping me obtain these jobs. I did not have the environment in which technology was a topic. East LA is my pride and joy, but there was rarely people who appreciated pivotal leaps in technology by foreshadowing their potential. So, the curios mind must tend seeking this knowledge their own way. Luckily, i was somewhat internet savvy as any fellow minded tech-geek, to know free education was available on youtube. Finding How-to's, explanations, and every question answered. Then I came across this weird gold-haired Canadian doing a Computer build. Dont remember which Video but I knew it was that. I was seeking an answer to "What is a computer?" and the video didn't help much since it merely touched on what components where and not how they operate, but it was uncomplicated and a good start. Some time after, after learning a bit more, I started searching for more specific questions "What is a better processor?" Mind you, I'm young, so nothing incredibly complex. BAM! That Maple-lover again (said in a throw-away tone, not racially offensive haha) and he's comparing two brands which get repeated over and over again in other blogs/sites/videos. Whatever, I'll watch. Later, same thing again, "What is an SSD?" "What is good RAM?" and I said fuck it, just start searching "linus" as a tag in the search and whatever other keyword. "Linus Computer cases" "Linus processors" etc. And damn, this guy had it all. Sweet! So i learn everything I wanted to through these videos. This guy could be an actor, maybe he's not tech savvy as portrayed, pfft, I can care less of the reality that he might have been because the other situation meant that this was enjoyed, and it always felt like the latter. Easy to digest instruction and providing information for that fateful day I'd be able to buy my first PC. Making it optimal to do everything. Especially gaming. Because of those videos, I was able to make my choices wisely. Sure, I basically went for "The 'Highest' Price I could afford (lol)but at least I was able to compare brands incredibly easy and chose those that would've suited what I needed and wanted. Why would I wanted 'Eyefinity' over sweet ass 'PhysX'! And knowing now, that I was able to discern my choices, because of those videos, makes me appreciate them. Now, mainly this appreciation would've stopped at a consumer level, but I never bought anything from NCIX, never used their affiliate codes, or even lived in the same country! But I came back to the channel when new technology arrived. Always learning. Keeping up to date. Knowing things I know i'll never be able to afford. Then, after constant resumes to only Video Game publishers and Developers, i got a hit! Activision was hiring for a CS rep. Nothing big, just have people skills, be able to troubleshoot, and know the games you play. I Really wanted this to help me gain a lead in a QA job which are hard to obtain. Eventually, i dabbled a couple days from time to time in QA and loved it. During the interview, they asked me "What would your gaming dream machine be, and why?" I knew my answer already because my casual NCIX videos always had price comparisons and benchmarks. So I knew the high-end cards, processors, cases, so it was an easy question answered with enthusiasm. I know for a fact, that was the question they use to decipher the truly passionate gamers. Please note that I do not insinuate a "PC-Master race" was asked, rather saying it was the evaluation question to know who pursue more than just wanting to work at a videogame company call center, assuming that it was all you need to troubleshoot. After Three years of helping people troubleshoot, helping them realize how their technology works I.E "My Game is Lagging whenever my sister is on the internet, will this be patched?" - it's funny to the informed, but it was an honest question, and I was happy to explain the answer, I had to quit. This was because I wanted to pursue learning how to write and program in my spare time of which I had none! Full-time job, Part-time school, and still stuck with mandatory GE classes. So i decided I'd rather find a Part-time job. Don't get me wrong! Activision considers their employees school hours, at least my department did. But I really wanted to see what I could learn with more time. It's going well. Now I have been hired at a up-and-coming Video game distribution company as a QC specialist troubleshooting peripherals and help chose what we should distribute next! Keep in mind, this is all video game accessories, video-game memorabilia, and toys. Fucking' sweet. I know this little company hired me of the skills i learned in Activision of which in turned, I only had, because of all those videos I watched. And this brings me to why I mentioned appreciation of teachers. I live in a time where the free education we'd once find at a library (and still do, support your local library! Knowledge is power!) is readily available to those who seek it, and we can choose where/who to learn them from. I chose to learn all I know now from Linus. Knowledgeable, funny, and seems to enjoy what he's doing. And it definitely influenced where I am now. I give my thanks to NCIX as well! So I definitely want these videos to continue. Not only for me, but for everyone who wants to learn anything and everything about technology. So here's $25 bucks my friend to the north! Help someone else achieve their goals indirectly, You're a huge help! I can't promise it will be continuous or even permanent, but know that I made the decision without giving it a second thought and will only spare what I can haha.

My multiplayer experience

My first game on a computer was “wings of fury” on a Amiga 500. I was 8 years old at that time. Since then I changed to PC a few years later and been playing games till this day (27 years old). Since my amiga times games were always something that fascinated me. I spent a lot of time playing the original Age of Empires II – the age of kings, I own the first copy of need for speed and everyone since then & I spent a lot of time playing FPS games like Call of duty, Unreal, Half-Life, counter strike & of course the Battlefield series.. What actually brings me to my original motivation for this post. All this time I spent in my life with computers in generall one “big” thing was missing. That would be playing online. My multiplayer experience was non existing till 8 weeks ago. Battlefield 3 was a gift from a friend for my birthsday in 2011. Since then I played the game in single player all the way thrue, multiple times. 8 weeks ago I had a small LAN-party with 3 of my friends. We were playing Call of Duty and a friend reminded me that I have a copy of Battlefield 3 and suggested we play a round or two online. Logically I went online and started to play. Now that was a big eye opener for me... How did I never play online? How did I miss this experience? It is so much more interesting, more active, its non-linear and you can choose what to do to benefit. And the best thing about it for me is the teamwork! This may apply more to Battlefield series of games, but my mind was blown how much fun it is. And I'm proud to say that in these last 8 weeks I managed to level up pretty good. Currently my game-tag is rank 43 what took me little more than 90 Hours. Now I understand that I'm late to the whole online playing culture but better late than never. To conclusion I would say that the online bug got me hard and I feel very confident that it will do for year to go... If anybody wants to play a round of Battlefield 3 please let me know :) game-tag: Ismaelharvester on battlelog

Justin Timberlakes album 20/20 Experience

Call me crazy but I think his new album called the "20/20 experience" sound very good. I started to listen to it just yesterday and it surprised me. I like how Timbaland laid low a bit with the beats. His previous beats were too much tempo and ufci ufci for my taste but this one sound much improved! Sounds sleak and sexy. Easy listen... I'm impressed !
