    0.00037680252% chance to win.

    Guess I'll find out tomorrow!

  3. Yo if you need a new dipshit of the month, Adobe is a great candidate.

I was pretty pissed that they turned all their professional products into a subscription services. Then, I discovered the wonderful world of piracy. Premiere Pro would have otherwise gotten surprisingly expensive.

  4. Destiny 2 appears to be one wretchedly screwy game

I've been tuning my girlfriend's new pc all day, because I have the perfect ingredients to make the most roided out Ryzen 3 2200G.

Memory runs at 3466, tight timings, in every game but Destiny 2. The game just crashes with no error message unless the ram is running at stock 2666 (or pretty low, trying to find what I can get away with). Somewhere along the way I started getting green screen crashes as well, which are likely the Vega GPU itself not working with its own OC (poor thing appears to be the weak link)

    1. BlueChinchillaEatingDorito

      BlueChinchillaEatingDorito

Nah man, the game hard crashes to the desktop even when you're just sparowing around patrol zones.

  5. YES.

    So much yes.

    I beat the Qada/Ominas/Mephilia/Yulyana fight!

  6. This fight.

    This fight.

    I remember this fight.

    Took me 2 months.

It still beats me - I only won because of luck.

    This is so much fun.

  7. Damn, benchmarking games can be a royal pain in the ass...

That list will be short, but it will be sweet, as well.  Some popular, high-quality games will be on there.

(I don't have 3Dmark and I don't feel like spending $30 on it, so I'm just benchmarking the GPU using games.  The Ryzen 9 5900HS simply does not bottleneck the RTX 3070 laptop GPU, so I don't have to worry about that.  I say this now because it is not a spoiler, especially given the performance of the CPU's predecessor, the Ryzen 9 4900HS.)

  8. Chapter 8 Eternian Central Command boss rush time.

I've been waiting for a challenge like this.

  9. I'll be finishing up my research today. The local science competition is held virtually this year so I'm actually preparing a presentation for the event first, then writing the report later. I'll keep my research under wraps for now, but I'll do my best to get the paper professionally published.

  10. Now that was an exhilarating fight.

Bravely Default, Chapter 8, Starkfort War Room battle.

    I haven't failed a fight since 2016.

  12. Spent all day installing Arch and setting (almost) everything up. Well, I guess I spent about 10 minutes installing Arch itself, and most of the time just configuring KDE...but whatever, doesn't matter.

Just doing some finishing touches like settting up F@H and making sure I have everything I need as far as Steam and Proton/Wine go, and then I think I'm good! And wow, it feels way better already, especially as I actually spent a lot of time configuring KDE with a new theme...overall it just looks and feels so much more polished. Very pleased, will likely nuke laptop next and copy everything over lmao. Maybe even set up some syncing between my systems but not sure about that.

It also seems that, among other minor problems I had on my old install, the awful memory leak is gone!

  13. I question the intelligence of some of our employees sometimes.

Person: "Hey, this account is stopped and the stop say "<Department> requires contact", This stop needs to be removed but i don't know who put it on"

Me: "....Have you tried to contact <Department>?"

How did these people pass the interview process?

  14. Sold one of my Kiras to a friend.

Got it all cleaned up, switches swapped, and ready for another lifetime.

If I win, I'm taking the 6800 XT and selling it.

It doesn't fit in my case (well I don't think it does at least).

I would take the 2080 Ti but it looks horrible IMO.

Apparently they'll email you within a week of it ending.

Also, usually they'll post the winning entry within 2-3 months of the end date.

  18. Microcenter purchase:

My mom bought a new laptop years ago, but never bothered getting the old data off of it. So I’m transferring the entire C drive onto a flash drive and mailing it to her. Microcenter has to be selling their 256GB drives at a loss at $22:

    image.thumb.jpg.f0cbfe9765190968db9128c874d0b883.jpg

Im selling her old laptop since she doesn’t want it.

A warning for anyone who wants to use microcenter flash drives: They use a weird proprietary firmware and I have never gotten them to successfully boot into any live Linux disto. Windows works fine, for some reason, but nothing else. They’re really only good for mass storage.

And Missouri, you might want to work on that 10% sales tax. Michigan is 6%.

@CircleTech American taxes system is broken but for me it seems little bit excessive to drive from  Missouri to Alaska to save a buck on a $22 USB stick. 😉

Did you forgot to claim the free headphone promotion?

    4. CircleTech

      CircleTech

@James Evens It doesn’t make sense t drive somewhere else for a $30 flash drive. But if you’re buying something in the tens of thousands, sometimes people go to Delaware or Montana to buy it. Take the $40K Mac pros as examples. I’ve run the numbers and for the price of a plane ticket, I could fly to Delaware, buy my Mac, then fly back to my home state and still save thousands in taxes.

  23. Sweet Lenovo education discount with cashback on top.

590€ for a i5-1135G7 base model with fingerprint sensor and back light keyboard. Basically a consumer notebook with ThinkPad branding/TrackPoint. Including the 1 TB Samsung PM9A1 and 16 GB 3200 MHz Crucial RAM this thing is 750€.

Sadly there is no option to order this straight up as barbone as I anyway sourced my own RAM and SSD as it is cheaper. More sad the touchscreen option isn't yet available.

Btw. -120€ for removing the windows licence brought the price into the interesting category.

As a side note you can't buy warranty extension for devices without a windows licence for some reason.

Little side kick towards Dell: The only configurable options on Latitude for consumer in Germany is software, financing and warranty. Basically equal to LTTs secret shopper experience.

Btw. I just noticed that I could have ordered a second PSU at the same time for reasonable 23€ (not even a up sell try from Lenovo, you need to manually look it up and add it to the shopping card) ...

Just a heads up....Lenovo laptops have a lot of issues with external monitors (won't display properly...not even at 1080p).  Depends on your use case so maybe check it out if you have not already purchased the Lenovo.

      Good luck! 🙂

@BillyGoat1776 The Yoga 12/One Link Dock has a problem with the Asus ROG 34" something  but for that I clearly blame Asus as any other monitor works fine (the Asus Monitor also dislikes AMD GPUs).

I could give you a different list of software problems some I have or had with ThinkPads and there are already known ones for the E14 gen. 2 Intel which might mean I must use Windows instead of Debian.

  24. Found this sign at Tipton airport:

    IMG_20210227_153610.thumb.jpg.ed59b35d65f1460f260dc9a0e2444ad7.jpg

What the hell?! Why would catalytic converters be an issue? You can also see the vehicles that likely have unmodified emissions equipment in the background...

The airport also had a Pepsi branded vending machine... that sold Coke products.

I've never been on a runway. Is the asphalt really soft? Because of what they do catalytic converters, and DPFs will be really hot. I wonder if it's to "preserve" the tarmac? Still funny none the less. Especially if you think it's for preserving that amazing road in the background..

Nah, the runways need to be able to support aircraft and the airport lets pilots take civilian vehicles out to their aircraft on the ramp (Tipton is a general aviation airport).

I don't think this part of the road even leads to the runway/taxiway/ramp.

The sign looks dated, maybe it has something to do with the fact that this airport was once part of a military base.
