Yo if you need a new dipshit of the month, Adobe is a great candidate.
-
I was pretty pissed that they turned all their professional products into a subscription services. Then, I discovered the wonderful world of piracy. Premiere Pro would have otherwise gotten surprisingly expensive.

@FakeKGB How about just the fact that the RTX 3060 is a steaming hot pile of garbage in an otherwise stellar RTX 3000 series? Or that they put 12GB of VRAM on it for no reason?
Yeah, they've been on my radar...

Destiny 2 appears to be one wretchedly screwy game
I've been tuning my girlfriend's new pc all day, because I have the perfect ingredients to make the most roided out Ryzen 3 2200G.
Memory runs at 3466, tight timings, in every game but Destiny 2. The game just crashes with no error message unless the ram is running at stock 2666 (or pretty low, trying to find what I can get away with). Somewhere along the way I started getting green screen crashes as well, which are likely the Vega GPU itself not working with its own OC (poor thing appears to be the weak link)

Damn, benchmarking games can be a royal pain in the ass...
That list will be short, but it will be sweet, as well. Some popular, high-quality games will be on there.(I don't have 3Dmark and I don't feel like spending $30 on it, so I'm just benchmarking the GPU using games. The Ryzen 9 5900HS simply does not bottleneck the RTX 3070 laptop GPU, so I don't have to worry about that. I say this now because it is not a spoiler, especially given the performance of the CPU's predecessor, the Ryzen 9 4900HS.)

Spent all day installing Arch and setting (almost) everything up. Well, I guess I spent about 10 minutes installing Arch itself, and most of the time just configuring KDE...but whatever, doesn't matter.
Just doing some finishing touches like settting up F@H and making sure I have everything I need as far as Steam and Proton/Wine go, and then I think I'm good! And wow, it feels way better already, especially as I actually spent a lot of time configuring KDE with a new theme...overall it just looks and feels so much more polished. Very pleased, will likely nuke laptop next and copy everything over lmao. Maybe even set up some syncing between my systems but not sure about that.It also seems that, among other minor problems I had on my old install, the awful memory leak is gone!

I question the intelligence of some of our employees sometimes.
Person: "Hey, this account is stopped and the stop say "<Department> requires contact", This stop needs to be removed but i don't know who put it on"
Me: "....Have you tried to contact <Department>?"
How did these people pass the interview process?

This is a tech forum.
This is not a politics forum.
If you get upset because cannot talk Politics, then this is all I have for you

It's so tiny i didn't even know what it was at first....how appropriate.

Isn't that just twitter?
I would hate to see what a "real" "politics forum" would be like

I'm always surprised by what people don't think are considered politics.
-
I'm always surprised with the number of "whataboutism" reply we get ; if you're told by PM, or warned, it's about YOUR behaviour, the fact that others were dicks won't change the fact that you were one too.
Someone is violating the CS? Report and move on.

8 hours to go...
SpoilerIf I win, I'm taking the 6800 XT and selling it.
It doesn't fit in my case (well I don't think it does at least).
I would take the 2080 Ti but it looks horrible IMO.

I actually applied for the Alienware M15 giveaway. How does one know the results of one of these giveaways? It ended a few weeks ago and I haven't heard about the results yet.
Apparently they'll email you within a week of it ending.
Also, usually they'll post the winning entry within 2-3 months of the end date.

Microcenter purchase:
My mom bought a new laptop years ago, but never bothered getting the old data off of it. So I’m transferring the entire C drive onto a flash drive and mailing it to her. Microcenter has to be selling their 256GB drives at a loss at $22:
Im selling her old laptop since she doesn’t want it.
A warning for anyone who wants to use microcenter flash drives: They use a weird proprietary firmware and I have never gotten them to successfully boot into any live Linux disto. Windows works fine, for some reason, but nothing else. They’re really only good for mass storage.
And Missouri, you might want to work on that 10% sales tax. Michigan is 6%.
-
@James Evens In some states it’s zero! (New Hampshire, Montana, Delaware, Oregon, parts of Alaska).
-
@CircleTech American taxes system is broken but for me it seems little bit excessive to drive from Missouri to Alaska to save a buck on a $22 USB stick.
Did you forgot to claim the free headphone promotion?
-
@James Evens It doesn’t make sense t drive somewhere else for a $30 flash drive. But if you’re buying something in the tens of thousands, sometimes people go to Delaware or Montana to buy it. Take the $40K Mac pros as examples. I’ve run the numbers and for the price of a plane ticket, I could fly to Delaware, buy my Mac, then fly back to my home state and still save thousands in taxes.

@Tristerin I stopped at the microcenter in St. Louis.
Dude, this Microcenter is f*cking huge! The store has a section for multimeters, scopes and Lab bench power supplies. They even have model rockets in the back for some reason?

Was just there recently getting stuff for the next PC build - Meshify 2 - but they didnt have one in stock so had to get it from Newegg.
