Day One - And They're Off

GOTSpectrum

Ladles and gentlespoons, We come together today to celebrate Wait, wrong speech.

Here we are again for another year, I'm really looking forward to see what we can do between CUDA and the new 30 series cards for the few that have them. It will also be nice to se some tier two event badges knocking around the forum. I am so happy to see the regulars, and even more happy to see some new names in the list!

In First place we have rodarkone with 34.47 million points, an impressive number and it will be interesting to see if Den-Fi can throw a little more skin into the game as he is trailing very narrowly with 32.3 million points. JoYoung finds himself taking the number three spot with 28.19 million points, as a new face around here he is sure showing he wont be having anyone take his lunch money if his first day in the playground is anything to go by. Fourth place is occupied the well known Miker07 with 21.29m points, Unilevers has no respect for social distancing hovering behind him with 21.05m points. with the top five already pulling away we have Gorgon taking sixth place with 16.7m points. _Rlocke will be looking to see if he can squeeze out some more juice as he is only a stones throw behind with 16.0m points. 8th place is Shouski with 14.3 million points followed up by Justaphf with 13.6m points and the top ten is rounded out by Mr.FoldingDatabase himself LAR_Systems with 10.4 million points.

Please remember that this is a friendly event, but we are all folding away for Science, AND GLORY!

I'm really impressed with the numbers we are seeing here, Thank you to all who are involved and who make this worth while every year.

Remember we are a team first and individuals second, so give thanks where thanks is due and hit that reaction button when someone helps you out.

Be wary of the higher minimum participation requirements this year.

Happy folding,

Spec.

Minimum Participation Requirements For Prizes

20 Days with activity*, 500,000 Points & 40 WU

(*activity is defined as completing at least 1WU for the 24 hour period)

So, some quick math for folks.

If you're only active for 20 days out of the 45'ish available for the event, you need to do 25k points in those 20 days.

If you're active for 40 days of the event, you need to do 12.5k points per day in those 40 days.

If you're active for all 45 days of the event, you only need to do about 11k per day.

To put that in perspective…the lame old dell i5 2 core laptop is putting out 12.5k points per day.

So, even lame CPU only folding on a single crap machine should be able to hit the mark, generally getting a few WU done each day with a couple longer ones that take a day.

I'm actually a CPU only folder on various old hardware, so I'm happy for this and feel the PPD/activity requirement works quite well here.

That being said, to hit the top 200 like I could flirt with in prior years, this year…I'd have to quadruple my output from the 5 systems I run f@h on…which I don't see happening.  So, I'll just be in the background crunching the WU's that your GPUs won't ever get while you all get the glory.

Heya,

Just curious, the spreadsheet you posted, will serve as a leader board for the whole event?

Thanks!

If I were to go by previous events. There should be new spreadsheet for every day. And then combined or final spreadsheet after last day of folding month.

Basically what @Favebook said, I like to post new spreadsheets so the data is available and everyone could theoretically check the work to know nothing dodgy is going on. Also, at the end of the event the master file will be made available in a read only format, once again for the sake of transparency.

You ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?

I have the same folding power as last year, just scaled up with Cuda.

It's pretty easy to see I'm at capacity.

You are the holder of the sheets!

Nooo, i went out for the day only to come back and find my main folding rig had completely crashed...

And that ladies and gentlemen is why you don't apply overclocks and change power limits just before heading out for the day.... Whoops

Well lesson learned I hope.

Now that I am figuring out what is going on (and have positioned my PC so that it will get cooled better), now ITS TIME TO UNLEASH FULL POWER MODE! Up the threads from 9 on the 3900x to FULL POWER, and TURN ON THAT GPU OC! (RTX 2070)
