Day 6 (Yes, I skipped some days, I'm aware)

Cloaked

So after changing my idea for like the 100th time, I had an idea, and the beginning and relative end of a story spanning 100s of millennia. The basic plot for this game is you're a U.S. army soldier that has been assigned to help fight alien invaders in the year 2036 (There's more backstory, but I don't feel like typing it all out right now). The gameplay will be very DOOM-like, except for one thing; a portal system that can also harm any enemies that walk into it. Anyways, all I've done so far is spending 5 hours trying to figure out how to get a rigidbody movement approach to work, which I have now scrapped, because the game doesn't need everything to be 100% bound to the physics engine, so we're going Character Controller instead (Anyone who knows something about Unity should be familiar with those terms). Anyways, I've got that to do, so I'll update you all tomorrow!

P.S. The game will be free on Steam from launch onward. The later games will start costing money though, because I gotta cover the publishing cost somehow!

Edit: So I just looked at the fees for Steam publishing, and I'm sorry, but $135 CAD per game is a lot of money. I'll keep the game relatively inexpensive, probably in the $5-10 CAD range, but I just don't have $135 to throw away. Sorry, guys.

How long have you been in game development? I did try Unity for a bit but fell off it to learn more languages.

About 4 months at this point. I’m a quick learner ;)
