About this blog

On April 2nd 2021 a good friend of my mom gave me her old PS3 Slim with 48 Games, two Controllers and Cables for free. In this Blog you can follow me along as I will be deep cleaning the Console and the games, upgrading the Thermal paste and HDD for a Samsung 860 Evo 500GB SSD to put a fresh Install of the PS3 OS on it. My Goal with this Project is to learn more about restoring older Hardware and making it run great again, possibly even delliding the CPU and GPU to swap out the Thermalpaste under the Integrated Heatspreader as well. After having deep cleanend and upgraded it I for sure am keen to try out some of the games such as Portal 2 and will probably keep the bundle for a while but the ultimate goal will be to sell it for profit at some point. So shall you be interested then follow along as I'm more willing to sell to a fellow Enthusiast then to some random Person here on the local Market.

I used my iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit and the official iFixit Teardown Guide to take apart the PS3.   I put a PET Recycling bag on the floor in my room to catch all of the dust and most importantly the disgusting brown smoking debris. I had the Window open all the time and wore Latex gloves in the whole process. I cleaned my iFixit tools afterwards with Alcohol screen wipes. It took me around 2 hours to take the Console completely apart as I had to take breaks to conduct the Guide and make
