  1. As someone who owns two 980's they've done well with my Swift but I do have some buyers remorse as the 980ti came out five weeks later but that's the way of computer life. I say 980ti if you can afford it. Me personally since I'm already in the 900 series I'm holding out for Pascal unless one of my cards crap out.
  2. Making a ram choice does th frequency matter that much? Should I save money and buy a lower frequency and what should be the lowest frequency I purchase?
  3. Okay, just get some artic silver and keep it moving..cool. Yes, I already have a h100i.
  4. Getting a R5E tomorrow and after watching Linus' overclocking video on x99 he mentioned the h100i being the bare minimum for overclocking a 5820k, should I upgrade to a better cooler such as the h110 gtx? He mentioned going with 140mm fans as well.
  5. I'm finally going x99 after asking and reading and waiting forever. My local Micro Center has some really great deals on open box buys, this store is dangerous to your budget. Should I get the Asus x99 Deluxe for $220 US or the R5E 3.1 for $270 US. The R5E fits my color scheme and I know Linus loves this board but will it be worth the $50 extra?
  6. I'm getting ready for a new build and took a look at my h100i and its dusty under the 120mm fans. Can I just use compressed air to clean it up? Sorry for the super noob question.
  7. Before I upgrade I do use an optical output logitech system and from what I've read it's a MS problem and it doesn't matter what motherboard. Has this been fixed? Is there someone with a work around? Or does someone with a newer board have it working fine? Thanks for your time.
  8. MicroCenter is the business if you have one near you.
  9. Okay, well we're only a week or so out so I'll just wait and see.
  10. I need more pcie lanes and not for sli/crossfire. Should I wait for skylake or just go ahead and jump to x99. I'm already using a sli setup and that takes all 16 with my 4770k. I want to use the Intel 750 with my sli setup and get full use of the ssd card.
  11. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten the hero and got one with more USB ports but I had no idea going sli would pretty much render the other pcie lanes useless but I do have a lot of external stuff. Webcam, 3d vision gear (don't laugh), game controller, multiple external HDD's for backups stuff like that.Edit: I just found that the Asus z97 deluxe has 10 USB ports in the back that will work and I won't need the cards and I still can use my processor. But damn, for the price of the board I feel like I should jump up to more lanes.
  12. I have two USB pcie cards one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0. From what I've read the USB 3.0 won't work to full capabilities unless it's at x4. X2 is faster than 2.0 but not full 3.0.
  13. The more I research so far, it seems like if you go sli and x4 you lose all other pcie. It seems like it really might be time for an x99 upgrade maybe but I really don't want to but I'm leery of the EVGA board as I don't see many videos of them or know many people with one.
  14. That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure. And you never get the right answer as everyone always assumes you want to do triple sli at 8x and they just go on and on about how bad it is and that's not what I'm looking for. I'll look more in depth at the Formula and EVGA classified. I know the classified has a plx chip.
