  1. I don't see any mention of a charlotte location in the article posted. Any idea when this location is coming?
  2. I will try installing an earlier version then updating the only things using my gpu according to task manager are: desktop window manager, client server runtime process, system, and windows shell experience host, but the issue happens every time i wake up the screen after like 30 mins or so, no matter what programs are running or not so i dont think that would affect it at all
  3. I haven't dropped this since i got it, but with it being refurbished on ebay, I'm slightly worried about that, but there were no visible signs of a drop when i got it but the issue has been there since i first opened the laptop. I will try using display driver uninstaller though
  4. i got a dell xps 15 9550 refurbished from ebay a few months ago. It's worked perfectly fine for me with one exception: when i first open the lid or wake up the screen after it has been off for a while, the colors are all washed out and horrible looking, but slowly over the course of 5 or so mins, the color returns to normal and the display looks amazing again. I'm just curious what could be causing this issue, and if there is anything reasonable i could do to fix it. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the nvidia and intel graphics drivers multiple times with no luck. I have the 4k touchscreen model with a gtx 960m if that helps.
  5. It really depends what you will be doing in your daw. Most daws out there offer a similar level of performance, and you shouldn't run into snags with any reasonably sized project with that cpu. Some sampler plugins are ram hungry and a good reliable hard drive or perferrably ssd is good to have. I wouldn't really worry about performance though, just whatever workflow works best for your needs. If you can tell me what you'll be doing I can help you out more though.
  6. What specific models are you comparing? The Dell you are thinking of is 15 inches but I think the hp might be 13. If that's the case you can get a dell xps 13 instead. They have an option for a touchscreen as well (qhd I think) with similar specs. This might be a more affordable option if you don't mind a 13 inch size.
  7. if you don't mind used, older models of 13 inch ultrabooks are super affordable for the price. You can find a nice xps 13 on ebay for around $800 cad (im in the us tho idk what its like to buy in canada). also, checking best buy for refurbished or returned items might be a good option. You can really get a lot for your budget if youre willing to look. Are there any specific features you want? like aesthetics or size or resolution?
  8. I wouldn't recommend the huawei unless you're on a super tight budget. With it being from a Chinese brand, it will be a lot harder to service it when you have problems. I would personally purchase the Dell because it has very high build quality and the 1050ti would be great for that 4k screen. Plus the panel is more color accurate if you're serious about design work enough. However for your use case as a student, having a pen and 2-in-1 might be something that you don't know you want. If it seems really appealing to lay your laptop down and use it as a piece of paper then you should definitely get this, but if you don't think you'll use this feature at all then you're probably better off with the Dell. Also you mentioned that you would only have this hooked up to a monitor? If that's the case why does a 4k screen matter to you?
  9. I am selling my gaming pc to buy a laptop because I mostly just watch youtube and make music. I do some light gaming with friends still but I'd much rather have a portable option for school and to make music with an environment other than my desk. I also do some visual work like photo editing and graphic design from time to time. I already have someone buying it for $700 and I'm looking around for a used laptop within that budget. (I also have a monitor and keyboard I can sell to stretch my budget a little more if necessary) Here's what I'm looking for: -high quality build and design (something that looks sleek and doesnt feel cheap) -qhd or better screen -solid reliable trackpad -good enough performance for music production and light gaming (overwatch and minecraft at 1080p pretty much) -something that will last me a while (I graduate this year and will most likely won't upgrade for college) -decent battery life -15 inches -usb-c That's a lot to ask for I know. Basically my ideal laptop would be a macbook pro 15 inch but that's nowhere near viable. Keep in mind that I'm more of an artist than a gamer and while I do value performance, its not my top priority. I want the best overall experience I can get including visual aesthetics and material choice. I know I will have to make sacrifices but I've found some good options so far -dell xps 13 9343 i can find for around $600 used on ebay. this is with qhd touchscreen option and good specs. this is basically the 13 " version of what im looking for, i'm just not sure if ill be happy with 13" I much perfer having a larger screen plus no option for 16gb of ram (also the design fits perfectly with my headphones so thats nice) -dell xps 15 9530 also around $600. seems like a great choice on paper, but I'm worried about it lasting as it was released in 2013. also I'm not really a fan of the design and the user experience is probably not as good as the xps 13 -2016 blade stealth closer to $700 and lesser specs so theres definitely a razer tax, but i feel like this might be more dependable -some other options are a newer xps 15 with a 1080p screen or a dell inspiron gaming laptop or a chinese brand like huawei although these dont really have any support outside of china Any and all input or recommendations are appreciated. This is going to impact my life in so many ways and I want to make sure I make the best decision I can.
  10. Alright well I emailed him this morning and he hasn't responded yet so it'll be difficult to get more information from him it seems.
  11. Oh really? I haven't looked around locally, where do you think I should go to find one? I'd much rather buy from an actual store since it's that affordable.
  12. Alright I'll ask him for that, what would be an obvious sign that it's not his or that it doesn't work?
  13. I asked if he could drive it to my area for extra money so I'm guessing if he's willing to do that he actually has the laptop. I'm also gonna request to meet him at a Starbucks or a park or something and if he agrees to that I doubt he's going to rob me or anything
