Unhandled Exception Error 0x80040707 on Cyberlink PowerDVD

I just downloaded the Cyberlink PowerDVD software from the HP website On my Windows 8 PC. After few days that it was installed on my system, I received a notification that I need to update my software. I run the update but it failed and crashed. And now, when I try to open the program, it didn't work. I downloaded the latest Service Pack but it gives an error:

Unhandled Exception

unhandled-exception-error-0x80040707-dll

Error Number: 0x80040707

Description: DLL function call crashed: CLScan.GetHybridVGAMode

Setup will now terminate.

OK

I'm pretty sure this is you asking, if not:

The error is because there is missing or invalid path in the Windows registry.

The steps to resolve this error are as mentioned below:

1) Click 'Start', Select 'Run' option

2) In the run window, type 'regedit' and the registry window will open

3) Back up the Windows registry present in the system

4) Locate the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' key and expand it

5) Select the key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager'

6) Right click on the 'PendingFileRenameOperations' key and select 'Delete'

7) Close the Windows registry and start the installation process again
