Folding@Home Install Guide and Links - LinusTechTips_Team - 223518

:( I had my FAH running for a couple days and had 12 WU sitting in Send state constantly failing.
I tried allowing firewall rules to no avail and ended up playing with the FAH folders/ reinstalling. I think I lost 2 days worth of work as a result.
I did backup my Appdata folder prior to messing with it so if anyone knows how I can restore 12 WU from that, that would be amazing.

But, as you can see below even after a re-install my jobs still sit in 'Send' status and fail to connect to servers.
For example, I can browse to the 52.224.109.74:8080 that seems to show the server responding even though FAH can't get to it.

Is this normal, taking days to send and fail after fail?

UPDATE:
I somehow managed to recover my saved AppData folder and get them sending.

I gave Admin to FAHClient.exe
Force closed FAH
Replaced FAH AppDate folder
Reinstalled
Opened Advanced control - watched "connecting" for 10 min then it came up

I may have just fluked something but those steps may help someone.

Everyone is having this issue, the stats.foldingathome.com page is just not updating. Web control is also kind of funky, so it's generally recommended to use advanced control (which you have open in your first screenshot)

Thankfully EOC is mostly updated and can be used to track your stats.

This website updates every three hours and has a ton more information than the normal stats page. Keep in mind though, they are still reliant on the official stats, so if those are having an issue in the backend, EOC can't update either.

Here is your EOC page:

https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=1013349

Here is the team information, if you're interested:

https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=223518

I fold in a VM running Manjaro ❤️ on my QNAP-NAS. To view the stats i use an anonymous Chrome Tab and use CTRL+SHIFT+R or Developer Console and Click and hold the reload sign and choose Hardreload to update the stats.

Is my machine properly folding? TY in advance for the help. It says trying in the visualization window but it says the project/work unit in the web control window. New to this.

CPU folding is working, but you'll want to set folding power to full in order to get your GPU folding (you can set it to only fold while idle if you want so that it doesn't bother you when gaming).

How can I set this to only use my GPU?  My CPU is basically useless for folding, but is still turning my office into a sauna.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Sorry, a couple other questions:

  1. Does it hurt anything to pause the folding?  I do need to use my computer occasionally, but I've been trying to schedule it only when the WU are completed.
  2. Are the WU's different length?  It seems like they're getting longer each time.  My first two were both under 2 hours long, and they've been getting longer.  The two I'm doing right now are both over 6 hours.  I'm not sure if my hardware is wearing down.

I've published a pdf guide to install the FAHClient on Ubuntu or Mint 20.

Many changes from earlier versions, includes:

fixing Python and GTK dependencies.

OpenCL install

Updating Nvidia drivers

patching FAHClient (simple, one line of code)

web client access, etc.
